Stephanie Heron

Stephanie Heron, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Peace River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Charlotte.

She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Jamaica, West Indies.

Stephanie moved from Jamaica to Port Charlotte in 1994. She was a homemaker.

Stephanie is survived by her sister, Dorothy Parris of Port Charlotte; and brother, Ewun Heron of Leesburg, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte.

Interment is private.

Arrangements are by Kays-Ponger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Port Charlotte Chapel.

Edwin M. Dickelman

Edwin M. Dickelman, 84, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2005.

He was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Manchester, Iowa, to Frank and Marguerite (Sheppard) Dickelman.

Edwin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then worked as a purchasing agent for Rockwell International in Chelsea, Mich.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Geneva; daughter, I. Jane (James) Zollicoffer of Cabot, Ark.; sons, Donald L. (Bonnie) of Fort Smith, Ark., and Lee A. of Crested Butte, Colo.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Caroline P. Madsen

The family thanks her very caring neighbors.

Caroline "Stormy" P. Madsen, 98, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 17, 1907, in Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Madsen moved to Port Charlotte from Brookfield, Ill. She was a Catholic.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy J. (Richard) Doman of Port Charlotte; two nieces, Kathy (Richard) Alm of Lake Worth, Fla., and Georgiann Gardner of Lake Wood, Colo.; a nephew, Ted Schmecht of Naperville, Ill.; and many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Madsen.

Services and interment will be private at a later date in Illinois.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel.

Mary J. Murray

Mary Jayne Murray, 81, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Peace River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 27, 1924, in Baltimore, Md.

She was a sales clerk for J.C. Penney Interior Design department. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinellas Park, Fla., and St. John's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., and the Legion of Mary at both churches. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a Cub Scout den mother. She moved to the Port Charlotte area in 2002 from St. Petersburg, Fla.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Inman of Port Charlotte; four sons, Thomas Turner, Mark Turner and A. Arthur Turner, all of St. Petersburg, and Gerald Turner of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Osgood-Cloud Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Pinellas Park.

Clark E. Hamme

Clark E. Hamme, 76, of Englewood, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

He was born March 2, 1929, in Hanover, Pa., to Charles and Mammie Hamme.

Mr. Hamme served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to the Englewood area in 1987 from York, Pa., where he retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company as an inspection supervisor. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Loyal Order of Moose, both in Englewood, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Port Charlotte.

Mr. Hamme is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Coldsmith of Fayetteville, Pa.; two sons, Kevin Hamme of Spring Grove, Pa., and Claude Hamme of Dallastown, Pa.; one brother, Wayne Hamme of East Berlin, Pa.; three sisters, Fairy Myers of East Berlin, Jane Grim of Thomasville, Pa., and Annabelle Seig of New Oxford, Pa.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and his brother, Larry.

Memorial services will be held in Pennsylvania.

Donald J. Ellwood Sr.

Donald Joseph Ellwood Sr., 82, of North Port, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, in Venice, Fla.

He was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Ellwood served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a motion picture machine operator. Mr. Ellwood moved to Florida in 1988 from Minneapolis. He was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks and American Legion.

Mr. Ellwood is survived by his wife, Lulagean A. Ellwood of North Port; three daughters, Mary Manning of New Hope, Minn., Patricia Cyr of Burchwood, Wis., and Dawn Northway of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; two sons, Donald Joseph Ellwood Jr. of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Patrick J. Ellwood of Crystal, Minn.; stepson, Daniel C. Kilker of Mentor, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port.

Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Nick M. Rowenko

Nick Mykola Rowenko, 83, of North Port, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005.

He was born May 20, 1922, in Hruszka, Ukraine.

Mr. Rowenko was the owner of Luba Corporation, a construction company in New Brunswick, N.J., before he retired in 1983. He moved to North Port in 1996 from New Jersey. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port and the UKKA of North Port.

Mr. Rowenko is survived by his wife, Vera Rowenko of North Port; daughter, Luba Nykyforuk of North Carolina; son, Walter (Janet) Rowenko of North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Uri and Lana.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at the North Port chapel of Farley Funeral Home, with a Panachyda service at 6 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at the funeral home and continue at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Venice Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Farley Funeral Home, North Port.

Betty J. Kabrich

Betty Jean Kabrich, 64, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005.

She was born March 26, 1941, in Jennings, Fla.

She moved to Arcadia more than 45 years ago.

She is survived by three brothers, W.H. Altman of Valdosta, Ga., J.T. Altman of Argyle, Ga., and Louie Gray of Statenville, Ga.; two sisters, Nora Lee Henderson of Statenville and Alice McClelland of Arcadia; two sons, Mark (Elizabeth) Kabrich and Darryl (LaDonna) Kabrich, both of Arcadia; two daughters, Melody (Larry) Patton of Arcadia and Julia (Joseph) Sweet of Michigan; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, J.L. Altman and Niola Humphrey; and one son, Randy Kabrich.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Robarts Funeral Home, 163 N. Brevard Ave., Arcadia.

Robarts Funeral Home, Arcadia, is in charge of the arrangements.

John Matthew

John "Jack" Matthew, 68, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005.

He was born June 12, 1937, in Center Line, Mich., to Alymer and Ella (Singer) Matthew.

Jack served in the U.S. Air Force. He moved from Michigan to Punta Gorda in 1983. He had been a handyman in Charlotte County since 1983. Jack was on the Board of Directors for the Tropical Gulf Acres Civic Association and was of the Methodist faith. He loved gardening and playing cards, and was everybody's friend. Jack loved his companion dog, "Scamp."

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 40 years, Shirley; brothers, Donald (Rose) of St. Clair Shores, Mich., and James and Kenneth (Sharon) both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; brother-in-law, Michael Goodison of Northhampton, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services, with a

memorial service in celebration of Jack's life to follow.

William Guttendorf Jr.

William "J.R." Guttendorf Jr., 48, of Gulf Cove, Fla., passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005.

He was born Dec. 31, 1956, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to William Guttendorf and LaVerne Persinger.

J.R. moved from Pittsburgh to Gulf Cove in 1980. He worked for Lemon Bay Truss as a designer for 23 years. He had a CB handle and was known as "Secret Agent Man, 007." J.R. was of the Catholic faith.

He will be greatly missed by his significant other, Pam Stewart; father, William (Annette) Guttendorf Sr. of Bradenton, Fla.; mother, LaVerne (Richard) Persinger of Pocono Mountains, Pa.; son, William P. III of Grove City; brother, Jimmy (Denise) of Delaware, Ohio; and sisters, Lynn M. Heyl of North Hills, Pa., and Sandra (Randy) Guttendorf Goucher of Rotonda West, Fla.

A memorial service in celebration of J.R.'s life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services, with the Rev. Bob Carlson officiating.

Willis D. Moyer

Willis D. Moyer, 81, of St. Michaels, Md., died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at his home.

He was born May 23, 1924, in Lancaster, Pa., to B. Willis and Cassandra Durgin Moyer.

After graduating from Franklin and Marshall Academy, he received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. He was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. He received his honorable discharge as a second lieutenant of the Army Air Force in 1944, after serving as a flight engineer and pilot during World War II. On Nov. 27, 1946, he married Lois Horning. He retired after 25 years with the Union Camp Paper Corporation and became an independent sales representative until 1995. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michaels, Harbourtowne Country Club and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. He loved woodworking, boating, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; three children, Sandra M. (Eric) Kunkel of Sebastian, Fla., Barbara M. (Leo) Kennedy of West Chester, Pa., and Willis D. (Heather) Moyer Jr. of Malvern, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Christ Church in St. Michaels. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster.

Memorial donations may be made to a hospice of the contributor's choice.

Marjorie A. Lewis

Marjorie A. Lewis, 60, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005.

Marjorie was born April 20, 1945, in Hartford, Conn., to Stuart and Helen (Prezekopski) Munro.

Her family moved to Fort Myers in 1952. Marjorie married Charles Lewis Sr. on March 17, 1965. She moved to Punta Gorda in 1976. She worked for the Department of Environmental Protection in computer technology. She enjoyed studying genealogy and was a past Worthy Matron of the Punta Gorda Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Catholic.

Survivors include her loving husband, Charles Sr.; three children, Trent (Lyn), Tonya (Ron) Yeager and Tim, all of Punta Gorda; grandchildren, Tyler, Kristin, Caleb, Tammy, Beau, Owen, Kelsey and Kyle; brother, Jack (Lam) Munro of Punta Gorda, brother-in-law, Gary Phreed of Cape Coral, Fla., aunt Jo Woolett of Vernon, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home of Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Kay-Ponger Funeral Home, Punta Gorda chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Williams

Harold "Hal" Williams, 81, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital.

Hal was a retired U.S. Army officer. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, the military Officers Association of America, American Legion Post 110, the VFW and the DAV, both in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. He lived in Port Charlotte for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Blanche Williams of Port Charlotte; daughter, Pamela (Gereth) Stillman of Eagle River, Alaska; grandchildren, Charles, Joshua, Patrick and Carrie Anne Stillman, all of Eagle River; sisters, Mae (Ernie) Smith of Brewster, N.Y. and Virginia (Louis) Williams of Patterson, N.Y.; and a brother, Charles Williams of Carmel, N.Y. He was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

At the family request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be at the Florida National Cemetery.

Danny J. Miller

Danny J. Miller, 4, of Arcadia, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005.

He was born Aug. 30, 2001, in Prince William County, Va.

Danny moved to Arcadia from Virginia just over two years ago.

He is survived by his father, Kenneth R. Garris; his mother, Belinda B.M. Miller; and brother Jeffrey K. Miller, all of Arcadia; sister Kendra R. Latson of Dale City, Va.; and maternal grandmother Catherine V. Randall of Arcadia.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.

Ponger-Kays-Grady of Arcadia is in charge of arrangements.
