Eloise M. Boyles

Eloise Marian Boyles, 77, passed away on Jan. 4, 2002, after an extended stay in the Charlotte Harbor Healthcare nursing home.

She was born July 18, 1924, in Ericson, Neb., and moved to North Florida with her parents in 1926. She graduated from Suwanee High School in Live Oak, Fla., and Florida State College for Women, where she played basketball and soccer. Upon graduation, she taught physical education at Ocala High School for five years. From 1951 to 1961, she served with the Army Special Services service clubs as a club director, serving in Okinawa; Korea, during the Korean Conflict; later serving at Fort Gordon, Ga.; and finally at Ulm, Garmish and Frankfurt, Germany. Miss Boyles returned to Live Oak in 1961 and taught physical education at Suwanee High School and social studies at Suwanee Middle School until retirement in 1986. She was selected as Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 1978. Upon retirement, she was elected to the Suwanee County School Board, where she served as vice chairman and chairman during her tenure. She also owned and operated Hilldale Ranch, where she raised purebred Angus cattle, until 1995, when she moved to Punta Gorda. Miss Boyles was past president of the Suwanee County Education Association; a member of the Gamma Theta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teachers's sorority; a member of the District Juvenile Justice Board, Suwanee County Retired Educators Association, Florida Retired Educators Association and Community Presbyterian Church in Live Oak.

Miss Boyles is survived by a sister, Eleanor B. (Kris) Webb; a brother-in-law, Sankey E. Webb Jr.; six nieces and nephews; 11 grandnieces and nephews; and several great-grandnieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at First United Methodist Church, 507 W. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Community Presbyterian Church, 830 Pinewood Drive, Live Oak. A private Burial service will be conducted for the family immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Expansion Program, or the newly established Boyles Scholarship Fund with Community Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by the Punta Gorda Chapel of Kays-Ponger Royal Palm Funeral Home.

Ruth A. Nilson

Ruth Ann Nilson, 46, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Jan. 5, 2002, at the H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa.

Born on May 2, 1955, in Boston, Mass., to David and Ruth (McGlynn) Barry, she had been a resident of Port Charlotte for five years, coming from Belmont, Mass. Mrs. Nilson was a purchasing agent for Baystate Automotive in Watertown, Mass., for 12 years and then for Copley Pharmaceuticals in Canton for five years prior to her retirement to Florida. She was an active member of the Lemon Bay High School ROTC.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Gary B. Nilson of Port Charlotte; sons, Scott C. Nilson of Englewood, Fla., and J. Joseph Nilson of North Port, Fla.; parents, David and Ruth Barry of Watertown; sisters, Joan McDonough of Watertown, Kathleen Fraser of Newton, Mass., and Patricia Trun of Saugas, Mass.; brothers, David Barry of Maynard, Mass., and Michael Barry of Watertown; mother-in-law, Charlotte Nilson of Port Charlotte; brother-in-law, Kenneth Nilson of Port Charlotte; 12 nieces and nephews; five grand-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 S. McCall Road. Funeral service and Burial will be in Michigan through Brown and Sons Funeral Home in Belmont, Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Development Office, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612, in memory of Ruth Nilson.

Clayton D. Misner

Clayton D. "Don" Misner, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Dec. 27, 2001.

He was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Florence Misner, and has been a resident of Port Charlotte since 1969. His wife, Marion Jean Misner preceded him in death.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Ellen (Rick) Kipper of Port Charlotte; sons, David Misner of Shelby Township, Mich., and Richard (Tracy) Misner of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Christopher L. Misner, Pete Misner, Corinne Butts, Matt Misner, Mark Misner, Alex Kipper, Rich Misner and Chris D. Misner; and two great-granddaughters, Emily Misner and Paige Misner.

A private memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 12. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, 3880-A Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Barbara Roberts

Barbara Coker Roberts, 74, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at home.

She was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Auburndale, Fla., the daughter of Carmon Poncho Coker and Louise Braddock Coker. She married John Thomas Roberts on Jan. 16, 1952. John died April 24, 1994. Barbara was a descendent of pioneering families who settled in Florida prior to the Civil War. She was a direct descendent of David Cutler Braddock, who in 1756 charted the waters of the west coast of Florida from the Keys northward, including Boca Grande and Tampa Bay. On her father's side, Barbara was descended from Daniel D. Coker who was buried in 1886 in the Coker Cemetery, Limestone, Fla.

Barbara was a retired schoolteacher who specialized in elementary education. In 1987, she moved from Palm Bay, Fla., to North Carolina, and returned to Florida in 1999, residing in Port Charlotte.

She is survived by two daughters, Jaynellen Roberts Ward of Palm Bay and Angelique Naomi Roberts of Chicago, Ill.; three sons, John Thomas Roberts of Pittsford, N.Y., Jefferson Davis Roberts of Port Charlotte and Joshua Edward

Roberts of Washington; two brothers, Carmon Paul Coker of Punta Gorda, Fla., and James Edward Coker of Winter Haven, Fla.; five grandchildren, Carmen-Louise Iervasi, Jefferson Davis Roberts, Jeremy John-Thomas Roberts, and Amber Christine Ward, all of Palm Bay, and Rachel Ariel Roberts of Pittsford; and two great-grandchildren, Bradley and AnnaMarie Iervasi of Palm Bay.

A Memorial Mass was offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan, 7, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. Interment will be in Coker Cemetery, Limestone.

Marie L. Schoenle

Marie L. Schoenle, 85, of Deep Creek, Fla., passed away Jan. 5, 2002.

She was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Anthony and Lucrezia (Fioretto) Muscia. She worked as a payroll clerk for many years before retiring. Marie loved to dance and made the best cheesecakes. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is predeceased by a granddaughter, Donna Marie Cline.

Marie will be greatly missed by her daughter, Patricia Marie (Harold) Cline of Deep Creek; son, Robert Edward Schoenle of Port Charlotte; grandchildren, Karen Marie (Ramon) Rosario, Robert Dee (Beth) Cline, Thorpe James (Kara) Schoenle, Steven Patrick (Kimberly) Cline Sr., Laurie Ann Schoenle, and Christine Antoinette (John) Kennison; great-grandchildren, Shanon Marie Rosario, Kassi Marie Rosario, Heather Nicole Cline, Gina Marie Cline, Steven Patrick Cline Jr., Samantha Marie Cline, Ashley Victoria Schoenle, Colin Matthew Cline, Jeanette Christine Banaszak, Jessica Marie Cline, Adam Thorpe Schoenle, Chloe Ann Banaszak and Brookelynn Grace Schoenle; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. The service in celebration of Marie's life is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services, with Burial following at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.

Carmine Domenick Filleti, 78, of Englewood, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Englewood Community Hospital.

Born Oct. 19, 1923, in Manhattan, New York, he had been a resident of Englewood for 14 years, coming from Dundalk, Md. Mr. Filleti was the owner and operator of Filleti's Pizza and Subs in Dundalk for 23 years and retired in 1987. He was a life member of VFW Post 10178 in Englewood and a member of the Englewood Flyers Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a communicant of St. Raphael Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elaine Filleti of Englewood; two sons, Frederick and Jean Filleti of Dundalk, and Domenick and Mary Filleti of Dundalk; a brother, Sebastian Filleti of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34223, in memory of Mr. Filleti. Englewood Community Funeral Home has been selected to handle arrangements.

Sharon W. Burnett

Sharon W. Burnett, 52, of North Port, Fla., died Jan. 5, 2002.

She was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Hackensack, N.J., and had lived here for 19 years.

She is survived by her husband, David C. Burnett of North Port; stepson, Gregory Burnett of Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Susan Crocitto of Hackensack; and brothers, Garry, Scott and Gregory Weedo, all of Port Charlotte.

Mychajlo Lysak

Mychajlo Lysak, 78, of North Port, Fla., died on Jan. 5, 2002.

He was born May 18, 1923, in Zborew, Ukraine. He came to this area in 1989 from Buffalo, N.Y. He worked for Trico Co. in Buffalo until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port. He was a member of Organization of Defense of the Four Freedoms of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Lysak of North Port; and a sister in Ukraine.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel. A Panachyda will be offered at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel, and continue on to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Mass will be conducted by the Right Rev. Mitrat Archpriest Wolodymyr Woloszczuk. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
