James Prescott, 77 Marietta, Ga.

James Hiram Prescott, 77, Marietta, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001.

Born in Jacksonville, Mr. Prescott moved to Marietta in 1966. He served during World War II and was an Army first lieutenant. Mr. Prescott retired from Federated Department Stores. He was a member of Gulf to Lake Church, Crystal River.

Survivors include his wife, Marie J. Prescott, of Marietta; a daughter, Becky Sullivan, of Newport, N.H.; two sons, James M. Prescott of Metropolis, Ill., and Steven Prescott of Cumming, Ga.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two aunts; nieces; nephew; cousins; and friends.

Kathleen Reilly, 86 Beverly Hills

Kathleen E. Reilly, 86, Beverly Hills, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Hernando. A native of Ireland, she came here in 1980 from Long Island, N.Y.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Irish American Club of Beverly Hills, the Catholic Women’s Club at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. She was Catholic.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Phillip Caffrey, 80 Sugarmill Woods

Phillip A. Caffrey, 80, Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, in Crystal River.

Born March 31, 1921, in the United Kingdom, he came here 18 years ago from Islip, Long Island, N.Y.

Mr. Caffrey was an auditor for New York Telephone Company. He was Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. (Geary) Caffrey of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa.

C. Joe Falcone, 83 Floral City

C. Joe Falcone, 83, Floral City, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Avante at Inverness.

He was born May 28, 1918, in Flushing, N.Y., to Raffaele and Marie Falcone.

Mr. Falcone was a retired sheet metal foreman. He is survived by his brother, Robert Falcone of Bayside, N.Y.

Lydia Hill, 81 Danville, Ky.

Lydia Marie Hill, 81, Danville, Ky., died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, in Danville.

Born July 14, 1920, she was a daughter of Albert Lee Pittman and Georgia Ann Hendren.

She was a retired Genesco employee in Danville.

She was a member of the Salt River Baptist Church. She was the widow of France I. Hill.

Survivors include a son, Donald Hill of Crystal River; two daughters, Frances H. Marcum of Danville, Ky., and Alberta H. Willis of Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Walter Himes, 80 Crystal River

Walter J. Himes, 80, Crystal River, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at his residence under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.

Born Nov. 18, 1921, in West Lebanon, Pa., to Charles and Amanda M. (Staffor) Himes, he came to Citrus County in 1958 from Ohio.

He was a retired boilermaker with Union No. 433 in Tampa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving six years in the South Pacific.

He attended the Red Level Baptist Church in Red Level.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jessie P. Himes of Crystal River; two daughters, Eudora F. Elliott of Steubenville, Ohio, and Kathy Jo Miller of Crystal River; and eight grandchildren.

Marie Lotzvie, 90 Tavares

Marie Lotzvie, 90, Tavares, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at the Sunshine Christian Home in Tavares.

She was born July 24, 1911, to Anton and Teresa Graupp. She moved to Leesburg in 1996 from Pompano Beach. She was Lutheran.

She is survived by her son, William Lotzvie of Inverness. Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness.

Raymond Mars Sr., 52 Laurel, Md.

Raymond Paul Mars Sr., 52, Laurel, Md., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in Maryland.

He was born Nov. 30, 1948, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Raymond T. and Frances (Ring) Mars.

He was employed as a program manager.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa (Nichol) Mars; son, Raymond Paul Mars Jr.; parents, Raymond T. and Frances Mars; brother, James T. Mars; aunt, Theresa Ring; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Eva Nichol.

Michael McCord, 39 Homosassa Springs

Michael Forrester McCord, 39, former resident of Hawthorne, N.Y., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at his home in Homosassa Springs where he had lived for five years.

Mr. McCord was a mason in the pool construction business. He attended Westlake High School and was a member of the varsity football team. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, but most of all, for his devotion to his son, Michael Jr.

He is survived by his son, Michael, of Homosassa Springs; his parents, John and Susan McCord of Hawthorne, N.Y.; sisters, Cindy McKeon of New Fairfield, Conn., Nancy Tucker, Debra McCord, both of Hawthorne, N.Y., and Linda Olson of Danbury, Conn.; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Howard Miller, 82 Crystal River

Howard Joseph Miller, 82, Crystal River, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.

He was born May 2, 1919, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charles L.C. and Bertha (Gfroerer) Miller and came here 10 years ago from St. Augustine.

He was a retired general manager with the Summers Fertilizer Company in Baltimore, Md.

He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Crystal River Village Homeowners Association and a senior member of Crystal River Village Golf League.

He was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Crystal River.

Surviving are his beloved companion, Harriet McKnight of Crystal River; son, Alan Miller of Citrus Springs; daughter, Susan Ferrier of Waldoboro, Maine; brother, Robert C. Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Robert Morton Jr. 57 Hernando

Robert Joseph “Bud” Morton Jr., 57, Hernando, died at home Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001.

He was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Oak Park, Ill., to Robert J. and Veronica Morton. He moved to Citrus County in 1979 from Georgia.

He was a real estate broker affiliated with Morton Century 21 offices.

He received his undergraduate degree from Beloit College, his master’s degree from Logan, Utah, and his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.

Survivors include his mother, Veronica Reich Morton of Hernando; two brothers, Jim Morton and his wife, Karen, of Inverness and Donald Morton and his wife, Cindy, of Lake Oswego, Ore.; one nephew; five nieces; and close friend and business associate, Jeanie Worrall. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Morton Sr., in 1980.

Douglas Ripley Sr., 80 Dunnellon

Douglas Edward Ripley Sr., 80, Dunnellon, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Dunnellon.

Born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, on Oct. 8, 1921, he came here from Levy County five years ago.

Mr. Ripley was self employed in the pool construction industry.

He served with the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. He was a veteran of World War II and was wounded twice and received the Victory Medal.

He was a Mason with the Unity Lodge No. 280 F&AM. He was a member of the Blue Cove Homeowners Association. He was Methodist.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Majeski Ripley of Dunnellon; son, Douglas Ripley Jr. of St. Cloud; daughters, Patricia Ann Domenico and Jeannie Lynn Stufflebean, both of Orlando; brother, Gordon C. Ripley of Ocala; sisters, Trudy E. Anderson of Ocala and Jean Davant of Sulphur, La.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mercer Rowan, 88, Inglis, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.

He was born March 5, 1913, in Atlanta, Ga., to John and Florence Rowan.

He was a retired nurseryman. He enjoyed the great outdoors. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clark Rowan, and sisters, Mary Wells and Wenonah Bell.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Rowan of Inglis; and sister, Alice Oates of Miami.
