Richard ‘Dick’ Roberts, 63 Hernando

Richard LeRoy “Dick” Roberts, 63, Hernando, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 15, 1938, in Kosiosko County, Indiana to LeRoy and Frances (Ward) Roberts, he came here two years ago from Wolcottville, Ind.

Mr. Roberts retired from General Electric as a wire winder.

He was a member of the Albion Eagles Club Aerie No. 2455 of Albion, Ind., and an avid bowler.

He was Catholic.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Martha R. (Fox) Roberts; four sons, Roy, Robert and Randy all of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Ricky of Kendalville, Ind.; two brothers, Ron of San Diego, Calif., and Don of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sisters, Shirley Puskarz of Inverness and Sandi Galloway of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

Mildred Zebendon, 91 Inverness

Mildred Zebendon, 91, Inverness, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002.

She was born March 30, 1910, in Karyville, Fla., to Charles and Lizzie Porter.

She came here in 1969 from Gary, Ind.

She was a retired food service manager.

She was Protestant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Zebendon, in 1991.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry Zebendon of Inverness and C.A. Zebendon of Bloomington, Ind.; one daughter, Fran Masters of Inverness; two brothers, James Porter of Burnsville, N.C., and Bobby Porter of Mims; three sisters, Jennie Cameron of Jacksonville, Mary Julia Benefield and Lola Counts both of St. Petersburg; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

James Cochran Sr., 80 Beverly Hills

James Vernon Cochran Sr., 80, Beverly Hills, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at the Surrey Place Convalescent Center in Lecanto.

He was born March 8, 1921, in Arcadia to James D. and Winifred (Alderman) Cochran.

He was a retired tugboat captain.

He moved to the area in 1999 from Brooksville.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army/Air Corps during World War II.

He was Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Amanda (Davis) Cochran; a son, James V. Cochran Jr. of Gibson; a daughter, Jenine Jackson of Lakeland; two brothers, J.D. Cochran of Leesburg and Kenneth Cochran of Brooksville; a sister, Mildred Cawvey of Tampa; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John Ennis Jr., 81 Ozello

John B. Ennis Jr., 81, Ozello, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River.

He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Matoon, Ill., to John and Mary Ellen (Leich) Ennis.

He was a retired carpenter.

He moved to the area 20 years ago from Orlando.

He was veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union of Orlando.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine Ennis of Ozello; a son, James L. Ennis and his wife Cheryl of Winter Garden; a daughter, Carol Brenneman of Orlando; two brothers, William Ennis of Alton, Ill. and Carol Ennis of Anaheim, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Nestor, 83 Beverly Hills

Mary V. Nestor, 83, Beverly Hills, died Friday, March 1, 2002, in Lecanto.

Born in Cambridge, Mass., she came here in 1982 from Needham, Mass.

Mrs. Nestor was a retired executive secretary for Scott & McDonald Paper Box Co. in Boston, Mass.

She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth College, Covenant Station, N.J., and a graduate with honors of Burdett College of Boston, Mass.

She was Catholic.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, a member of the Council of Catholic Women and a volunteer teacher at Our Lady of Grace religious education program. She was a member of the Irish American Social Club and the New England Social Club of Beverly Hills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Nestor, on Jan. 19, 1991; her brothers, James, Thomas and John Haggerty; and her sister, Helen Hoey.

Survivors include her sister, Catherine Borgstrom, of Beverly Hills; her brother, Joseph Haggerty, of Arlington, Mass.; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Margaret Rae Zoller, 90, Inverness, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Inverness.

She was born Sept. 15, 1911, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Raymond and Margaret Colsher.

She moved to the area in 1998 from St. Cloud.

She was Lutheran.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Franklin Zoller, a daughter, Ethel Travers and a grandson, Dennis Travers.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Gene Travers of Inverness; a daughter, Joan Sullivan of Inverness; two brothers, Jack Cauker of Port Lucie and George Cauker of Pocono, Pa.; two sisters, Lillian Gearhart of Philadelphia, Pa. and Rita Thompson of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Barbara Herold, 97 Yorktown Heights, N.Y.

Barbara Herold, 97, Yorktown Heights, N.Y., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. She was a homemaker.

She was born Aug. 30, 1904, to Henry and Constance (Endress) Hofmann in Nuremberg, Germany.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Croton Falls, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Herold, in 1997 and her son, Joseph, in 2000.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Prieto of Inverness and Barbara Enright of Somers, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Marie F. Ingram, 87, Bushnell, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in Inverness.

She was a retired restaurant manager.

She was born July 15, 1914, to Harry and Laura Frey in Moscow, Ohio.

She moved to the area in 1980 from Fort Lauderdale.

She was a member of the Indian Hills Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, George E. Ingram of Homosassa.

Kathryn Collins, 92 Sebring

Kathryn Gimble Collins, 92, Sebring, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in Avon Park.

She was born Sept. 5, 1909, to Albert and Thomasina Gimble in Savannah, Ga.

In 1973, she moved from Miami to Inverness, where she lived until 14 months ago when she moved to Sebring.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima, Inverness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Collins.

She is survived by three sisters, Ann Dowsey of Montrose, Colo., Winifred Nichols of Palm Beach and Tillie Nichols of Fort White; along with several nieces and nephews.
