Joseph Sala, 93 Inverness

Joseph Sala, 93, Inverness, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. A native of Harlem, N.Y., he came here 35 years ago from Baldwin, N.Y., and was a retired lithographer for a printing company.

Mr. Sala was Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Sala of Inverness; and brother, Louis Sala of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his son, Rudolph Sala.

Oscar Schellert, 86 Homosassa

Oscar Leo Schellert, 86, Homosassa, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Crystal River.

He was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Old Monroe, Mo., to Casper and Mary (Matzbacher) Schellert. He came here 19 years ago from Greenville, Mo.

Mr. Schellert was a retired crane operator. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Schellert, on Jan. 15, 2000.

Survivors include three sisters, Helen Leifield of St. Louis, Mo., Marie Kinser of Old Monroe, Mo., and Virginia Craig of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs.

Lula Tincher, 88 Dunnellon

Lula Mae Tincher, 88, Dunnellon, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness.

Born Feb. 26, 1914, in Dothan, Ala., to Robert Z. and Laura (Bodiford) Strickland, she came here 32 years ago from West Palm Beach.

Mrs. Tincher was a retired professional seamstress.

Survivors include her son, Walter J. Faison of Dunnellon; four grandchildren, Renee, Adam, Tracey and Randy; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Zalmer Faison, September 2001.

Manley Wood, 96 Inverness

Manley Joseph Wood, 96, Inverness, died Sunday, March 31, 2002.

He was born Dec. 20, 1905, in Wallagrass, Maine, to James and Delia Wood.

He came here in 1981 from Orland, Maine.

Mr. Wood retired as a supervisor in 1968 after 38 years with International Paper Mill.

He loved hunting, fishing and playing cards.

He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ida Arseneault Wood of Inverness; one son, Joseph Wood of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; two daughters, Joan Wynn of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Catherine Hoeing of Inverness; and six grandchildren.

Doris Eich, 73 Inverness

Doris Jane Eich, 73, Inverness, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County.

Born March 14, 1929, in Jersey City, N.J., to William and Hilda (Forsell) Peters, she came here in 1974 from Ridgefield Park, N.J.

Mrs. Eich was a homemaker. She attended the Gulf to Lake Baptist Church of Crystal River.

Survivors include four sons, Roy Heymer of Colonia, N.J., Paul Heymer of Blairstown, N.J., Richard Heymer of Belford, N.J., and Alex Eich of Inverness; four daughters, Susan Gawlick of North Bergen, N.J., Ellen Sanders of Inverness, Claire Lewis of Palm Harbor and Pamela Burns of Inverness; two sisters, Barbara and Virginia, both of New Jersey; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eich, Feb. 22, 1989, and her son, Billy Heymer, Sept. 4, 1985.

Nancy Gloetzner, 69 Dunnellon

Nancy E. Gloetzner, 69, Dunnellon, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

She was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Flint, Mich., to James and Margaret Pearson. She moved to Dunnellon in 1998 from Fort Lauderdale, where she had lived for the previous 35 years. She was a former nurse at Doctors General Hospital in Plantation.

Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Gloetzner of Dunnellon; two daughters, Marta Schuchard and Heidi Gloetzner, both of Dunnellon; four sons, Chad Gloetzner of Phoenix, Ariz., Tim Gloetzner of Dunnellon, Hans Gloetzner and Kurt Gloetzner, both of Fort Lauderdale; brother, James Pearson of Fenton, Mich.; two sisters, Katie Bussey of Ada, Mich., and Mary Painter of Downing Town, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Lane, 74 Homosassa

Mary Catherine Lane, 74, Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Woodland Terrace of Citrus County in Hernando.

She was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Redkey, Ind., to Forrest and Flossie (Bergdoll) Pursley. She came here in 1989 from Fort Wayne, Ind.

Prior to retirement in 1968, Mrs. Lane was manager of Chestnut Ridge Country Club of Towson, Md., for seven years. She had also been manager of Fort Wayne Country Club of Fort Wayne, Ind., for eight years.

She was past president of The Embassy Theatre of Fort Wayne, Ind. She inaugurated the Festival of Trees, a fund-raiser, in 1970-71.

She was a member and past board member of Sugarmill Woods Country Club and was active in community affairs and fund-raisers. She was director and treasurer of Cypress Village Property Owners Association Inc. from 1990-93.

She was Methodist.

Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Joseph A. Lane of Sugarmill Woods; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Willis Brannon of Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, all of the Baltimore, Md., area; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean Manzer, 74 Phelps, N.Y.

Jean A. Manzer, 74, formerly of Inverness, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at the Geneva General Hospital. She was residing in Phelps, N.Y.

Mrs. Manzer was born June 6, 1927, in Middletown, N.Y., the daughter of Bruce and Maude Ennist Archibald.

She retired after 17 years as a bus driver for the Phelps-Clifton Spring School District. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the New York State Public Employment Association.

She is survived by her children, Forrest (Jane) Manzer of Buchanan, N.Y., Judy Gelder of Phelps, N.Y., Jan (Don) Davis of Waterloo, N.Y., Joyce Frederick (Vic French) of Waterloo, N.Y., Bruce (Tina) Manzer of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Bryan Manzer of Geneva, N.Y.; brother, Andrew (Lorraine) Archibald of Scotia, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Manzer was predeceased by her husband, Albert W. Manzer, who died in September 2001.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to the Community Home Care, 3019 County Complex Drive, Canandaigua, NY 14424-9514 or the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance, 7 Exchange St., Phelps, NY 14532.

Christine McDonald, 86 Singer Island

Christine M. McDonald, 86, Singer Island, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Cypress Cove Nursing Home in Crystal River.

A native of Bayshore, N.Y., she was born July 5, 1915, to Edmund and Grace St. George.

She came to Florida five years ago from Bayshore, N.Y.

She was a retired school nurse. She was Protestant.

Survivors include her niece, Julie Ann Kelleher of Singer Island.

William Schreiber, 86 Inverness

William John Schreiber, 86, Inverness, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Inverness.

Born Feb. 6, 1916, in Bronx, N.Y., to William and Catherine Schreiber, he came here in 1988 from Danbury, Conn.

Mr. Schreiber was a retired insurance salesman. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of Grace Gospel Fellowship, Hernando; American Legion Post No. 77, Inverness, and Union Masonic Lodge No. 40, Danbury, Conn.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Campbell Schreiber of Inverness.

Adele Thompson, 80 Homosassa

Adele V. Thompson, 80, Homosassa, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her home.

Born Oct. 21, 1921, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she came here 21 years ago from Indian Rocks Beach.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Hernando and Order of the Beaucant of Tampa.

Survivors include her son, Steven A. Thompson of Homosassa; daughter-in-law, Becky Thompson of Homosassa; sister, Sandra Dean of Tampa; son-in-law, Keith Dean of Tampa; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary Vecchiarelli, 84 Crystal River

Mary Vecchiarelli, 84, Crystal River, formerly of Beverly Hills, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Crystal River.

Mrs. Vecchiarelli came here in 1994 from her native Bridgeport, Conn.

She was a homemaker. She was Catholic.

Survivors include two daughters, Camille Fields of Beverly Hills and Antoinette Rossi of Fairfield, Conn.; three granddaughters, Dawn Conrad of Beverly Hills, Dr. Lisa Murphy of Connecticut and Laura Totten of Rhode Island; one grandson, Philip Rossi Jr. of Washington, D.C.; and a great-grandson, Ryan Thomas Conrad of Beverly Hills.
