Henry Neuhauser, 89 Inverness

Henry William Neuhauser, 89, Inverness, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Inverness.

Born April 30, 1912, in Orange, N.J., to John and Julia (Augustine) Neuhauser, he came here in 1970 from Berkley Heights, N.J.

Mr. Neuhauser was a retired truck driver.

He was a member of Woodsmen of the World.

He was Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Neuhauser, on June 2, 1994.

Survivors include his daughter, Alberta Nigo of Easton, Pa.; one brother, Tony Neuhauser of Miami; and two sisters, Julie Filler of North Carolina and Kathryn Cole of Union, N.J.

Adele Thompson, 80 Homosassa

Adele V. Thompson, 80, Homosassa, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her home.

She was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Fort Wayne, Ind. She came here 21 years ago from Indian Rocks Beach.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Hernando, Homosassa Springs Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 319 and Social Order of the Beaucant of Tampa.

Survivors include one son, Steven A. Thompson of Homosassa; daughter-in-law, Becky Thompson of Homosassa; daughter, Sandra Dean of Tampa; son-in-law, Keith Dean of Tampa; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Alfred Bayer, 92 Homosassa

Alfred R. Bayer, 92, Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Sunday, April 7, 2002.

He was born March 12, 1910, in Riverside, N.J. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received his masterís of science in chemistry at Lafayette College in 1933.

Mr. Bayer was employed as the chief chemical engineer by Brooklyn Union Gas Company in Brooklyn, N.Y., for more than 30 years, and lived in Chatham, N.J., with his wife, Helen, and daughters, Marilla and Gayle. He then consulted for numerous gas companies and taught at Cooper Union in New York City. At the age of 67, he was a professor at the University of Algiers in Algeria and taught the students in French.

He and his wife moved to New Port Richey in 1970 and then to Sugarmill Woods, until her death in 1986. Mr. Bayer resided there until his death and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a sister, Caroline of Philadelphia, Pa.; his daughters, Marilla Falley of Dana Point, Calif., and Gayle Joas of Hampton, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Edith Berry, 80 Hernando

Edith M. Berry, 80, Hernando, died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Green Cove Springs.

She was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wis., to James and Goldie Slicker. She came here in 1998 from Tuckerton, N.J. Mrs. Berry was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Richard W. Berry of Hernando; two sons, Kenneth Berry of Annapolis, Md., and Howard Berry of Tuckerton, N.J.; two daughters, Shirley Ocks of Pleasant View, Tenn., and Diane Dixon of Spring Hill; and three brothers, Glen Slicker of Grass Valley, Calif., Carl Slicker of Hesperia, Calif., and Robert Slicker of Milwaukee, Wis. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Slicker.

Max Brandenburg, 83 winter resident

Max Allan Brandenburg, 83, winter resident of Homosassa from Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at his Homosassa home.

He was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Hagerstown, to Cyrus and Annie Brandenburg.

Mr. Brandenburg was a U.S. Army Master Sergeant after 23 years serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a driver for Hagerstown Motor Express before joining the Army.

He retired from Mack Trucks after 22 years of service.

He was a winter resident of Homosassa for five years.

He was a member of the Mack Truck Retirement Club. He was Protestant.

Surviving are his wife, Margaretta Keller Brandenburg of Hagerstown, Md.; and one sister, Freda Johns of Hagerstown, Md. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

John Covich, 82 Beverly Hills

John Covich, 82, Beverly Hills, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, in St. Petersburg.

A native of Chicago, Ill., he came here from Round Lake, Ill., 18 years ago.

Mr. Covich was in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II in Philadelphia, Pa., for four years. He retired as superintendent for a construction company.

He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for 20 years in Chicago, Ill., and was the district commodore with the 9th Western Region in Chicago.

He was a volunteer with the Beverly Hills Surveillance Unit for 15 years and former captain.

He was Protestant and attended Beverly Hills Community Church.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary Beth Covich of Beverly Hills; two sons, Lawrence Covick and wife, Shu-Chin, of Athens, Ala., and Gary Covick and wife, Carol, of Wycoff, N.J.; one daughter, Linda Veglia and husband, Ronald, of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; one granddaughter, Dara Covick of Wycoff, N.J.; one sister, Louise Brandel of Chicago, Ill.; and three nephews, Roland Brandel of California, Richard Brandel of Chicago, Ill., and Robert Brandel of New York, N.Y.

Anne Hedrick, 84 Whittier, Calif.

Anne M. Hedrick, 84, of Whittier, Calif., formerly of Homosassa, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002.

She was born May 8, 1917. She was a Navy nurse stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, where she met her beloved husband, James, during World War II. After settling in Needham, Mass., and retiring from a long career in nursing, she was involved in the Needham Garden Club, Postcomers of Needham, Republican Womenís Club, bridge, square dancing, and was an active member at the Needham Golf Club. She continued her passion for golf in Florida at Sugarmill Woods and Southern Woods. Anne touched many lives in many places and her memory will be cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hedrick Sr. Survivors include her daughter, Darlynn Halliday and husband, Thomas, of Needham, Mass.; son, James Hedrick Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Buena Park, Calif.; three granddaughters, Kimberly Slachta of Medfield, Mass., Jennifer Osman of Montclair, Calif., and Christina Hedrick of Buena Park, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Paige Slachta.

Katrina Hinkle, 41 Crystal River

Katrina Louise Hinkle, 41, Crystal River, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.

She was born Feb. 18, 1961, in New Port Richey to C.L. and Catherine (Long) Cross. She was a lifelong resident.

She was a waitress at Dillonís Restaurant in Crystal River and attended the United Pentecostal Church of Crystal River.

She is survived by two sons, Nicholas Wayne Pharr of Crystal River and Brian Scott Hinkle of Biloxi, Miss.; one daughter, Christina Renee Pharr of Crystal River; her parents, C.L. and Catherine Christina Cross of Lecanto; two brothers, Charles L. Cross of Forrest Park, Ga., and James H. Cross of Homosassa; two sisters, Patricia A. Daniels of Young Harris, Ga., and Anna M. Hawkins of Carrabelle; three grandchildren, Seth John Michael Ferris, Sabrina Renee Ferris and Tyler William Harold McCorkle; and many nieces and nephews.

Emily Lee, 84 Beverly Hills

Emily J. Lee, 84, Beverly Hills, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, in Hernando.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she came here 30 years ago from Levittown, N.Y.

She was a retired beautician with 40 years of service.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills and the Catholic Womenís Club. She was a former member of the Sunshine Bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Lee Jr., on March 23, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie E. McHugh of Beverly Hills and Jeanne Telesca and husband, Ben, of Ocoee; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Glenn Shaver, 77 Meridian, Idaho

Glenn L. Shaver, 77, Meridian, Idaho, former resident of Inverness and Ocala, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City.

He was born March 25, 1925, in Ingram, Ark., to Alvin and Mary Shaver.

He was a retired evangelist in the Church of Christ. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and a graduate of Harding University in Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Danner Shaver of Meridian, Idaho; two sons, Dennis Shaver of Nashville, Tenn., and Robert Shaver of Meridian, Idaho; three daughters, Priscilla Vickory of Conway, Ark., Glenna Hess of Chicago, Ill., and Celeste Shaver of Beverly Hills; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jonathan Norman Bissonnette, 25, Spring Hill, died Sunday, April 14, 2002.

He was born Jan. 25, 1977, in Woonsocket, R.I. He was a pipe layer.

He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.

He was an avid fisherman and woodcarver, specializing intricate walking sticks.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leon W. Perron and Eugene Bissonnette.

Survivors include his parents, Joseph and Janice (Perron) Bissonnette of Spring Hill; a sister, Janna M. Bissonnette; and grandmothers, Marion Perron and Theresa Bissonnette, both of Spring Hill.
