Delwin Hines, 74 Inverness

Delwin Denzel Hines, 74, Inverness, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice.

He was born April 28, 1928, in Wilmore, Ky., to Harland and Evelyn Hines and spent most of his life in Windsor, Ohio. He came to Inverness in 1997 from Upper Marlboro, Md.

Mr. Hines was a retired general contractor, having owned and operated Del-Raeco Construction Company in Adelphi, Md., for more than 30 years.

He was affiliated with the Hernando Church of The Nazarene and the Citrus County Republican Committee. While living in Maryland, he was active in the Republican Party, as well.

A brother, Walden, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vivian Bullis Hines of Inverness; two daughters, Cyndi Noell and her husband, Larry, of St. Leonard, Md., and Valerie Hines of Lusby, Md.; five brothers, Wendell of Inverness, Daryl of Warren, Ohio, Rolland of Mentor, Ohio, Myron of Orwell, Ohio, and Lowell of Jefferson, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Donald Markey Jr., 76 Crystal River

Donald Markey Jr., 76, Crystal River, died Monday, April 7, 2003, in Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River.

Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Ashland Ohio, to Ruth and Donald Markey Sr., he moved here in 1973 from Hawthorn, Calif.

Mr. Markey was a retired draftsman engineer for Mattel Toy Factory and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Markey of Crystal River; one son, Ralph James Markey of Golden Gate; one daughter, Ruth Neiss of Rock Island, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Clarence Rice, 80 Crystal River

Clarence J. Rice, 80, Crystal River, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at his home.

Born Oct. 27, 1922, in Hitchins, Ky., to Clarence K. and Lena (Rucker) Rice, he came here 30 years ago from Kentucky.

Mr. Rice was a retired Baptist minister and chaplain of the Disabled American Veterans.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II under General Patton.

He was Baptist. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, on Feb. 3, 2001.

He is survived by his caregiver, Bettie Jo Byrd, with whom he resided.

Orville Robinson, 89 Inverness

Orville F. Robinson, 89, Inverness, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Life Care Center of Citrus County in Lecanto.

Born April 30, 1913, in Akron, Ohio, to Humboldt and Ida (Cather) Robinson, he came here 17 years ago from Atwater, Ohio.

Mr. Robinson was a retired foreman for B.F. Goodrich Co. with 38 years of service.

He was a member of the Foreman’s Club of B.F. Goodrich. He attended Calvary Baptist Church of Crystal River.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred G. Robinson.

Survivors include two sons, Gary F. Robinson and wife, Kristen, of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Kevin L. Robinson of Akron, Ohio; one brother, Ralph H. Robinson of Port St. Lucie; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Mina ‘Minnie’ Rouse, 97 Inverness

Mina “Minnie” O. Rouse, 97, Inverness, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Mariner Health Center in Inverness.

Born May 12, 1905, to Joseph and Mary Tetlus, she came here three years ago from her native Elizabeth, N.J.

Mrs. Rouse retired from C.N.A. Insurance Company with 30 years of service.

She was a member of the Evangel Church in Scotch Plains, N.J.

Survivors include her son, Wesley Rouse of Oviedo; her daughter, Dorothy Esposito of Inverness; a sister, Edith Hering of Sarasota; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joanne Sutherland, 88 Inverness

Joanne Elsa Sutherland, 88, Inverness, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness.

Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Germany, she came here in 1983 from Anna Maria.

Mrs. Sutherland was a retired owner and operator of a variety store.

She was Protestant.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Neil Sutherland; one stepson, Lee Sutherland of Hernando; one stepdaughter, Lila M. Church of Bushnell; one brother, Werner Sonntag of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mildred Williams, 89 Crystal River

Mildred Williams, 89, Crystal River, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.

Born Oct. 11, 1913, in Homosassa, she was a lifelong resident of this area.

She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church in Lecanto.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Williams, former mayor of Crystal River, and a daughter, Linda Bunts.

Survivors include three sons, Don Locklar (Sally) of Jacksonville, Tony Williams (Kim) and Tim Williams (Sarah) both of Crystal River; one daughter, Diane Chester (Chet) of Casselberry; two brothers, Ronnie Brown of Satellite Beach and J.C. Brown of Bartow; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

John Chorney, 86 Carle Place, N.Y.

John Chorney, 86, Carle Place, N.Y., died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Crystal River.

Born Sept. 13, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John and Mary Chorney, he was a Beverly Hills seasonal resident since 2000.

Mr. Chorney retired from General Electric in Brooklyn as a foreman in the sheet metal division. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

His memberships included the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic War Veterans and the Holy Name Society, all of New York.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Kohut of Carle Place, N.Y.; two daughters, Theresa Hrobuchak and her husband, John, of Beverly Hills and Marie O’Connell and her husband, Geoffrey, of Valley Stream, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Chorney and sister, Barbara Welki, both of Floral Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Don Lamerson, 73 Hernando

Don Kendall Lamerson, 73, Hernando, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Inverness.

A native of Lansing, Mich., he came here in December 1997 from Leesburg.

Mr. Lamerson worked as a shoe retailer from 1980-1991 and owned the Naturalizer Shoes, Lake Square Mall, Leesburg. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He enjoyed woodworking, especially making country furniture.

He attended the House of Power Church, Dunnellon.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Connie Lamerson of Hernando; four sons, Don Lamerson II of Farmington, Mich., Ken Lamerson and wife, Theresa, of Lakeland, James Lamerson and wife, Julia, of Hernando, and John Lamerson of St. Petersburg; one daughter, Karen Reynolds and husband, Tom, of Butler, Ky.; a brother, Robert Lamerson of Plymouth, Mich.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mary McCauley, 82 Lecanto

Mary Virginia McCauley, 82, Lecanto, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Brentwood Health Care Center.

Born in Kentucky on June 30, 1920, she came here nine years ago from Pine Run in Ocala.

Mrs. McCauley was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, William V. McCauley; three sons, Nash McCauley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Walter S. McCauley of Fort Lauderdale and Richard J. McCauley of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

James ‘Buddy’ Risher Jr., 41 Inglis

James “Buddy” Risher Jr., 41, Inglis, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa.

He was born March 1, 1962, in Brooksville to James V. Risher and Carolyn A. Risher. He was a lifetime resident of Inglis.

He worked at Risher’s Auto Parts and Wrecker Service with his father for 27 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Mercedes, family and friends. Some of Buddy’s best times were spent in the woods hunting and on the water fishing.

He was Baptist.

Survivors include his daughter, Mercedes, of Inglis; maternal grandmother, Lucille Neeld of Inglis; his parents, James V. and Carolyn Risher of Inglis; four sisters, Brenda Jensen of Vermont, Jewel Lamb of Crystal River, Alicia Buzbee of Inverness and Sabrina Cole of Citrus Hills; four brothers-in-law, Cary Jensen of Vermont, Steve Lamb of Crystal River, Don Buzbee of Inverness and Rob Cole of Citrus Hills; three nephews; and two nieces.
