Henry Craig

MAYO - Henry Craig died Tuesday at Shands at Lake Shore. He was 77.

Mr. Craig was a custodian at Lafayette Bank of Mayo.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Williams Craig of Mayo; sons John Henry Craig, Ricky Craig, Vance Craig, all of Mayo, and Michael Craig of Madison; daughters Betty Craig and Biddie Craig, both of Mayo, and Angela Davis of Veto; brothers Willie Morgan of North Carolina and Allen Jones of Selma, Ala; and sisters Classie Carr, Catherine Meriweather and Roberta Feagins, all of Cincinnati.

Mamie Lloyd Dickerson

Mamie Lloyd Dickerson died Sunday at her residence in East Orange, N.J., following a brief illness. She was 80.

A native of Capps, Ala., Mrs. Dickerson was a member of Sardis Temple Baptist Church in Newark, N.J.

Survivors include a son, Paul Dickerson of Gainesville; daughters Mary Hornes of Gainesville and Shirley Bennett of Jasper; her nephew and caretaker, Edward E. Lloyd of East Orange; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Frances Miller Doby

MICANOPY - Frances Miller Doby died Oct. 7 at Gainesville Heath Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was 67.

Mrs. Doby was born in Clearwater and moved to Micanopy 35 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Ellah Baptist Church.

She attended Alachua County public schools.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Doby of Micanopy; sons Steven Doby of Jasper and Curtis Doby of San Diego; daughters Amy Adams of Ocala, Neomia Doby of Gainesville and Michelle Doby of Micanopy; brothers Arthur Miller Jr. of Clearwater, Andrew Miller of Mechanicsville, Va., and Ernest Campbell of Titusville; sisters Gertrude Clark and Alice Ray, both of Clearwater, Idella Anderson of Baltimore, Gwendolyn James of St. Petersburg; and seven grandchildren.

Wyatt Knoxie Dunnam Sr.

OLD TOWN - Wyatt Knoxie Dunnam Sr. died Tuesday in Gainesville. He was 82.

Mr. Dunnam was born in Green County, Miss., and moved to Dixie County from Lucedale, Miss., in 1960.

He was a retired Baptist minister and a member of Suwannee River Baptist Church.

He worked for Continental Turpentine and Rosin for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Louise Dunnam of Old Town; sons Rayborn Dunnam of Perry, Andrew Dunnam of Cross City, Dallas Dunnam of Bakersfield, N.C., and Wyatt Dunnam Jr. of Old Town; daughters Lanell Muzzarelli of Old Town, Weida Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Bettie Lou McCall of Folkston, Ga.; sisters Ovela Dibbly of Pensacola and Bertha Wally of Richton, Miss.; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Beverly J. Gustafson

Beverly J. Gustafson of La Porte City, Iowa, died Monday in Iowa. She was 79.

Mrs. Gustafson was born in Magnolia Corners, Wis., and lived in Gainesville for 20 years before moving to Iowa in 1998.

She was a homemaker and a secretary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Folke "Gus" Gustafson.

Survivors include daughters Jo Gustafson of Gainesville and Jan Walker of La Porte City; and two grandchildren.

Lynda Lee Hatman

Lynda Lee Hendrickson Hatman of Charlotte, N.C., died Sept. 30 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She was 57.

Mrs. Hatman was raised in Gainesville. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1962.

She retired from the Medical Staff Services director position at Presbyterian Hospital earlier this year.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Hatman of Charlotte. Local survivors include a son, Robert Cox of Gainesville.

Ozena L. Hendry

LAKE BUTLER - Ozena L. Hendry died Wednesday at Lake City Health Center following an extended illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Hendry was born in Lake Butler and lived most of her life in Jacksonville before returning to Lake Butler in 1982.

While in Jacksonville, she was a dress maker with Amy's Burial Dress Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hendry.

Survivors include a daughter, Anna Marie Barfield of Brooker; sons John M. Hendry of Lake Butler, William R. Hendry of Jacksonville, James W. Hendry of Ladson, S.C., and Roland G. Hendry of Maxville; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

George Hicks Sr.

The Rev. George Hicks Sr., a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Oct. 11 at Shands at the University of Florida following a brief illness. He was 71.

Mr. Hicks was a retired custodian at Santa Fe Community College. He volunteered as a foster grandparent. He was a member of the Fairbanks Church of God by Faith, where he served on the Deacons Board, the Finance Committee and the Home Mission Board. He also served as Sunday school superintendent.

Survivors include his wife, Nazalee Hicks of Gainesville; a son, George Hicks Jr. of Gainesville; daughters Patricia Hicks, Dorothy L. Williams and Sharon L. Danzy, all of Gainesville, and Sharon Hale of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Gladys Manchion McKenzie Holmes

Gladys Manchion McKenzie Holmes died Tuesday at her residence in Gainesville following a brief illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Americus, Ga., and moved to Gainesville from Trenton, N.J., in the early 1950s.

She was a homemaker and a retired self-employed children's day care provider.

She was a member of the Southeast Tenth Avenue Church of Christ.

Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Holmes Sr.

Survivors include daughters Barbara J. Perry, Jacqueline Chever and Jeannette Holmes, all of Gainesville, and Gladys M. Holmes of Atlanta; sons Willie Holmes Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Timothy and Alphonso Holmes, both of Gainesville; sisters Elizabeth McKenzie, Mary Grace McKenzie and Lillian McKenzie, all of Trenton, N.J.; brothers James "Abe" McKenzie and Charles McKenzie, both of Trenton, N.J.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Allen Douglas Holt Sr.

SUWANNEE - Allen Douglas Holt Sr. died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 83.

Mr. Holt was born in Pineview, Ga., and moved to Suwannee from Valdosta, Ga., 20 years ago.

He was a retired Pepsi Cola bottler and an avid sportsman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Griner Holt; and a son, Bill Holt.

Survivors include sons A.D. and Tom Holt, both of Valdosta, Ga.; a sister, Evelyn Goodbread of Lake City; a brother, Howard Holt of Valdosta; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Inita Crawford Lillie

Inita Crawford Lillie of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 49.

Mrs. Lillie was born in Immokalee and moved to Gainesville from Naples in the 1970s.

She was a Pentecostal and a senior word processor in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida.

She graduated from Naples Senior High School and later attended the University of Florida.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Lillie Jr. of Gainesville; daughters Patonya D. Lillie and Pamela S. Lillie, both of Gainesville; a stepdaughter, Patricia A. Lillie of Gainesville; stepsons Phillip Lillie III, Patrick R. Lillie and Prescott E. Lillie, all of Gainesville; her mother, Irene S. Sanders of Naples; sisters Juanita C. Riggins of Naples and Cynthia Doualehi of Gainesville; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
