Clifford Eugene Cason

Clifford Eugene Cason of Hawthorne died Wednesday at home. He was 59.

A native of Atlanta, Mr. Cason moved to Hawthorne in 1990. He was a truck driver for W.G. Johnson and Sons, and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing pool.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Cason of Hawthorne; five daughters, Robin Cason, Valli Cason and Dana Andrews of Atlanta, Joan Picard of Shiloh, Tenn., and Robin Hritz of Orlando; three sons, David Barker and Scott Bradley, both of Atlanta, and Karl Haag of California; his stepmother, Betty Jean Cason of Hawthorne; a brother, Spencer C. Cason of Gainesville; a sister, Kelly Hunter of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four nephews, Daniel and Thomas Lewis and Graham and Cody Cason, all of Gainesville.

Eugenia Jones Heathcott

Eugenia Jones Heathcott of Gainesville died Friday of natural causes. She was 82.

Born in Swifton, Ark., she moved to Gainesville from Fort Walton Beach 14 years ago. A graduate of Texas Womens University, she had worked as an executive secretary until her retirement. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, James Heathcott; a daughter; and two granddaughters.

Grace Angeline Madden

Grace Angeline Madden of Truro, Nova Scotia, died Thursday at her home. She was 89.

Mrs. Madden lived in Gainesville from 1960 to 1979. She was administrative dietitian and later assistant director of the food service department at the University of Florida.

Survivors include a sister, Elsie McCabe Findlay of Truro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

William Nelson Middleton

ARCHER - William Nelson Middleton of Archer died Wednesday at Hospice House in Gainesville. He was 87.

Mr. Middleton was born in Lexington, Ky., and moved to Archer in 1968. He was a nursing assistant with the Veterans Affairs hospitals in Lexington and Gainesville, and retired after 37 years. Mr. Middleton, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the Kentucky Colonels honorary organization and of Tower Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and coin-collecting.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice H. Middleton of Archer; three daughters, Ellen Stollings of Detroit, Phyllis German of St. Augustine and Susan Teijeiro of Gainesville; a son, William N. Middleton II of Archer; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Juanita Johnson Moreland

CHIEFLAND - Juanita Johnson Moreland of Chiefland died Thursday of cancer. She was 64.

A native of Jackson County, Ky., Mrs. Moreland lived in Pinellas Park until 1992, when she moved to Chiefland. She was a Protestant and a former assembler for the Zero Corporation in Clearwater.

Survivors include her husband, Harold S. Moreland of Chiefland; a daughter, Sara Segraves of Dade City; three stepchildren, Becky Hoffmeister of Boston, Viki Tremmel of St. Petersburg and Lee Moreland of High Springs; four brothers, Bill Johnson of Trenton, Richard Johnson of Demerest, Ga., Lester Johnson of Trenton, Ohio, and Kenneth Mullins of PainLick, Ky.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John R. Norris

John R. Norris of Fort Lauderdale died Wednesday after a car accident in Fort Lauderdale.

Born in New Orleans, Mr. Norris lived in Alachua before moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1976. He was a self-employed boat repairman. Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Norris.

Survivors include his father, James B. Norris and stepmother Mary Norris, both of Alachua; a sister, Jerri K. Norris of Miami; and three brothers, Jim Norris of Pace, Jeff Norris of Alachua and Joe Norris of Valparaiso.

Mary Francis Lamar

CROSS CITY -- Mary Francis Lamar of Cross City died Saturday at Shands at the University of Florida. She was 66.

Mrs. Lamar was born in Samson, Ala., and moved to Cross City 31 years ago from Avon Park. She was a registered nurse and a Protestant.

Survivors include four daughters, Jean Ridgeway of Trenton, Lynn Dunnam of Old Town, and Carol Lee and Janice Campbell, both of Cross City; one son, Danny Lamar of Old Town; one sister, Odell Scoggins of Old Town; and 11 grandchildren.

Alfred Tilleson

Alfred Tilleson of Gainesville died Wednesday at Gainesville Health Care. He was 99.

The Wisconsin native moved to Gainesville in 1987. He was a farmer and a Presbyterian.

He has no immediate survivors.

Williams-Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charlie Hill Jr.

Charlie Hill Jr. of Gainesville, also known as "Puzzle" and "Junebug, " died Friday at Shands at AGH following a lingering illness. He was 58.

Mr. Hill was born in Lake City and moved to Gainesville in 1963.

He was a self-employed painter and a member of Simmons Grove Bethelite Baptist Church of Orange Heights.

He attended Alachua County public schools.

Survivors include sisters, Lillie Mitchell, Mary H. Lynn, Esther Johnson and Eva J. Stephens, all of Gainesville; and brothers, Michael Johnson and Eddie Johnson, both of Gainesville.

Duncan Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

G. Howard Crocker

HAMPTON -- G. Howard Crocker died Wednesday at his residence in Hampton. He was 56.

Mr. Crocker was born in Sumter, S.C., and lived in Gainesville for 25 years before moving to Hampton four years ago.

He was a comptroller, a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War veteran and a member of First Baptist Church of Starke. He graduated from Florida International University.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Susan Herb Crocker of Hampton; a daughter, Christine Crocker Tomlinson of Savannah, Ga.; a son, Greg Howard Crocker of Ocala; sisters, Ruby Crocker Frownfelter of Columbia, S.C., Susan Crocker Starker of Sumter, Donna Crocker Kline of Woodsboro, Md.; his stepfather, Ottis Babb of Burnsville, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Milam Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

F.W. Dougherty

WALDO -- F.W. "Bud" Dougherty of Waldo died Tuesday in Gainesville. He was 58.

Mr. Dougherty was a lifelong resident of the Waldo-Orange Heights area.

He was the retired owner of Sonny's Bar B Q in Jacksonville Beach and the former manager of Sonny's on Waldo Road.

He was a member of the Orange Heights Baptist Church, the Waldo Lodge No. 10 F&AM;, Jacksonville Shrine Club, Morocco Shrine Temple in Jacksonville and Ocala Scottish Rite Bodies.

Survivors include his wife, Sally A. Dougherty of Waldo; daughters, Tammy Bergsund of Pensacola and Lisa Robison of Green Cove Springs; sisters, Viola Yates of Statesville, N.C., Anne Thigpen of Orange Heights, Dorothy Byrd and Debbie Granger, both of Waldo, and Grace Narron of Daleville, Ala.; brothers, Harry Dougherty of Waldo, and George Dougherty and Clark Dougherty, both of Orange Heights; and five grandchildren.

Mary Elizabeth Davidson Floyd

CROSS CITY -- Mary Elizabeth Davidson Floyd died Wednesday at her residence in Cross City. She was 73.

Mrs. Floyd was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a retired banker, working over the years for Dixie County State Bank, Levy County State Bank and Capitol City Bank. She was a former chairwoman and an active member of the March of Dimes. She also was a member of the Dixie County Cattlemen's Association.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Floyd of Cross City; daughters, Debbie Terry of Argyle, Texas, Linda Hatch of Cross City and Benjie Bowman of Jacksonville Beach; brothers, William Davidson of Watertown, Mass., Donald Davidson and Alvin Davidson, both of Virginia Beach and John Davidson of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Anne Davidson Koelling of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren.

Harold O. Freeney

ALACHUA -- Harold O. Freeney of Alachua died Monday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. He was 66.

Mr. Freeney was born in Columbia County and lived in Gainesville most of his life. He moved to Alachua two weeks ago.

He was a retired maintenance worker at the University of Florida.

Survivors include sons, James P. Freeney of Newtongrove, N.C., Ulysses Freeney of Fort Lauderdale; daughters, Vonceal Freeney and Michelle Freeney, both of Fort Lauderdale, and Ramona Esson of Alachua; sisters, Quinell Stephenson of Reno Valley, Calif., Eloise Aaron of Coral Springs and Shirley Bynes of Fort Lauderdale; brothers, Namon Freeney of Daytona Beach, Roosevelt Freeney and James Freeney, both of Alachua, Joe Louis Freeney of Gainesville and Frankie Freeney of Fort White; and three grandchildren.

Chestnut Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

David Wiley Weaver

David Wiley Weaver of Gainesville died in Gainesville on Thursday. He was 76.

A native of Milledgeville, Ga., Mr. Weaver moved to Gainesville from Jacksonville in 1965.

He was an insurance agent with Cannon-Treweek, a Methodist and a member of the Quarterback Club and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed boating.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Weaver of Gainesville; daughters, Bobbie DeLashmutt, Terry Hill and Jeannine Weaver, all of Jacksonville, Donnie Green-DiVito of Micanopy and Pat Hope of Alachua; sisters, Martha Leake of St. Augustine and Jewell Cox of California; brothers, Pete Weaver and Jimmy Weaver, both of Milledgeville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
