Dolores H. Henning

Dolores H. Henning died Saturday at her residence in Gainesville. She was 74.

Mrs. Henning was born in Jacksonville and moved to Gainesville from Ocala more than 10 years ago.

She was a retired warehouse manager with Barnett Bank and a member of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Rainey of Gainesville.

Pearce Walter Hunt Sr.

Pearce Walter Hunt Sr. of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH. He was 78.

Mr. Hunt was born in Baltimore and moved to Gainesville in 1937.

He was a retired machinist with White Electric and a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Hunt, who died in 1985.

Survivors include daughters Sylvia Wall of Alexandria, Ala., Candace Hintermister of Gainesville and Dixie Ford of Alachua; a son, Pearce Walter Hunt Jr. of Rockville, Md.; a half-brother, Richard Kuhn of Orlando; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

John Simmeon Hussey

ISLAND GROVE - The Rev. John Simmeon Hussey died Saturday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 87.

The Largo native was a former pastor of New Hope Baptist Church and Windsor Baptist Church. He was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, James Hussey of Island Grove; a stepson, Alfred H. Hollie of Madison; and brothers Harold Hussey of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Charles Ray Hussey of Georgia.

Donald Edwin Meier Sr.

STARKE - Donald Edwin Meier Sr. died Monday at Shands at AGH. He was 64.

Mr. Meier was born in Louisville, Ky., and moved to Starke in 1973.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. He was also a retired correctional officer at Florida State Prison and Lawtey Correctional Institution.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Smith Meier of Starke; a son, Donald Meier Jr. of Starke; daughters Tina Kelley of Brooker and Sharie Acosta of Orlando; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Edward C. Rockenstyre Jr.

HAWTHORNE - Edward C. Rockenstyre Jr. died Saturday at his residence. He was 53.

Mr. Rockenstyre was born in Jacksonville and moved to Hawthorne from Middleburg 18 years ago. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Linda Rockenstyre of Hawthorne; sons Calvin Eugene and Edward C. Rockenstyre III, both of Hawthorne, and William Edward Rockenstyre of Bell; his mother, Ruby Mae Rockenstyre of St. George, Ga.; his father, Edward C. Rockenstyre Sr. of Windsor; sisters Geraldine Tucker of St. George and Linda Bennett of Jacksonville; and eight grandchildren.

Troy Phillip Thompson

OLD TOWN - Troy Phillip Thompson died Saturday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. He was 36.

Mr. Thompson was born in Melbourne and moved to Old Town from Savannah, Ga., a few months ago. He was a sheet metal mechanic and a member of the Cross City Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his parents, Thomas D. and Geraldine Thompson of Old Town; brothers Thomas Thompson of Springfield, Mo., and Daniel Thompson of Old Town; sisters Dixie Flowers and Darline Thompson, both of Old Town, and Crystal Thompson of Oxford; his maternal grandmother, Elsie Thompson of Old Town; and his paternal grandparents, Henry Thompson and Evelyn Godfrey, both of Old Town.

L. H. Warren

LIVE OAK - L. H. Warren died Sunday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. He was 79.

Mr. Warren lived in Live Oak most of his life.

He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal for his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Baptist and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 49 F & AM.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Anderson of Live Oak; a son, Lewis Warren of Jasper; brothers Numley Warren of Fort Stockton, Texas, and John Henry Warren of Newry, S.C.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Betty Jane Bucher

Betty Jane Bucher of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH. She was 74.

A native of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Bucher moved to Gainesville in 1987.

She was an inspector with American Home Foods and a Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton Brown, and her second husband, John Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Daniel Bucher Sr. of Gainesville; two sons, Terry Lee Brown of Gainesville and David Williams Brown of DeWitt, Pa.; two stepsons, Chad Bucher of Mifflinburg, Pa., and Richard Bucher of Philadelphia; a sister, Edna Mae Sykes of Henderson, Nev.; a brother, Leroy Aikey of Youngstown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Laura Callie Chase

HIGH SPRINGS -- Laura Callie Chase of High Springs died at her home Tuesday. She was 66.

A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Chase moved to High Springs from Worthington Springs 15 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of High Springs.

Survivors include her husband, John Chase of High Springs; three daughters, Deborah Krawzik of Collinsville, Ill., Dendra Long of Sylva, N.C., and Laura Stills of High Springs; two sons, Greg Pugh of Jacksonville and Mark Stills of High Springs; a stepdaughter, Holly McCormick of Hampton; a stepson, Vincent Stills of Starke; two sisters, Billie Sue Melton and Mildred Witt, both of Nicholasville, Ky.; and a brother, Charles Lewis Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.

Mildred W. Evers

Mildred W. Evers of Gainesville died Sunday in Gainesville. She was 74.

Mrs. Evers was born in New Haven, Conn., and moved to Gainesville in 1950.

She was an administrator and an Episcopalian.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Evers of Gainesville; a son, Mike Evers of Gainesville; and a brother, Allison Thribodeau of Holiday.

Betty Hudson

STARKE -- Betty Hudson of Starke died Saturday at Shands at the University of Florida following a brief illness. She was 87.

Mrs. Hudson was born in Inverness and moved to Starke from Brooker 60 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Starke.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Charlie Hudson of Starke; three daughters, Alice Harris and Corine Howard, both of Miami, and Barbara Samuel of Ocala; seven sons, Roosevelt Hudson of Lawnside, N.J., E.C. Hudson and Matthew Hudson, both of Miami, John H. Hudson, Clifford Hudson and Rudolph Hudson, all of Starke, and Willie Hudson of Ocala; a sister, Cloia Thomas of Tampa; 45 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.

Marie R. Joyner

Marie R. Joyner of Inverness died Monday. She was 88.

The Jacksonville native was a nurse and an Episcopalian.

Local survivors include a daughter, Susan Marie McKinnon of Gainesville.

Aden Keeter

Aden Keeter, the co-owner of the Shaw and Keeter Motor Co. in Gainesville, died Sunday in Gainesville. He was 75.

Mr. Keeter was born in Talking Rock, Ga., and moved to Gainesville in 1952.

He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, Stetson Law School and New York University. He had a master's degree in law.

In 1953, a few years after practicing law in Gainesville, Mr. Keeter joined his uncle, Patrick C. Keeter, his aunt, Minnie Lee Sparks, and his brother, Preston Keeter, in operating Shaw & Keeter Motor Co., the local Ford dealership. He was instrumental in developing and strengthening the dealership finance company, which allowed customers to buy vehicles with non-conventional loans. He guided the dealership during its last years until it was sold in 1986.

Mr. Keeter was a founding participant in the formation of Oak Hall School, The Heritage Club and the local Junior Achievement programs. He was active in the Kiwanis Club. He was a contributor to the University of Florida and an ardent supporter of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Wilson Keeter of Gainesville; a daughter, Alison Keeter Fiol of Tampa; three sons, Robert Aden Keeter of Gainesville, James Wilson Keeter of Winter Springs and Thomas Shelton Keeter of London, England; and eight grandchildren.
