Clifton Wayne Kiser

HORSESHOE BEACH - Clifton Wayne Kiser of Horseshoe Beach and Bradenton died Thursday at his home. He was 61.

Mr. Kiser was a Baptist.

Survivors include daughters, Adrienne Kiser of Bradenton and Allyson Foster of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, John Kiser of Shelby, N.C.; sisters, Martha Phillips and Marrietta Weiss, both of Shelby; one grandchild; and a close friend, Nancy Hook of Bradenton.

Daisy Lou Penney

Daisy Lou Penney of Gainesville died Sunday at her home after a long illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Penney was a homemaker and a member of South Miami Baptist Church. Born in Valdosta, Ga., she moved from Miami to Gainesville five years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Twiggs W. Penney Sr.

Survivors include sons, Jack H. Penney Sr. of Williston, Charles Ray Penney of Miami and Twiggs W. Penney Jr. of West Palm Beach; daughters, Sara Helen Sammons of Gainesville and Juanita Pressey of Silver Springs; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Willie J. Adams Sr.

HAWTHORNE - Willie J. Adams Sr. died Tuesday at his residence. He was 77.

Mr. Adams was born in Jacksonville and moved to Hawthorne from Gainesville 18 years ago.

He was a retired carpenter and a member of the American Legion Post No. 306. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, class leader and as a member of the United Methodist Men.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Adams of Hawthorne; sons Willie J. Adams Jr. of Grove Park and Charles Stephenson of Gainesville; daughters Brenda Jackson and Linda Adams, both of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Loy Ronald Blanton

Loy Ronald Blanton of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was 64.

The Suwannee County native moved to Gainesville from Wellborn 44 years ago.

He was a chemical operator with Clariant and a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church.

He was a member of the Gainesville Masonic Lodge No. 41 F&AM.;

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Louise Howard Blanton of Gainesville; daughters Rhonda Hewitt and Brenda Stormant, both of Gainesville, and Marcia Elder of Jacksonville; a son, Donnie Blanton of Gainesville; a brother, Winton Blanton of Wellborn; and four grandchildren.

Joseph Alan Fleming

HIGH SPRINGS - Joseph Alan Fleming, a lifelong resident of High Springs, died Wednesday at his residence. He was 48.

Mr. Fleming was a retired telephone repairman and a member of Lighthouse World Church in Chiefland.

Survivors include his wife, Laraine Fleming of High Springs; daughters Trina Dickert of High Springs and Traci Carter of Bell; a son, Trevor Fleming of High Springs; his mother, Lillie Fleming of High Springs; a sister, Bernice Willingham of Rome, Ga.; a brother, Greg Fleming of Gainesville; and a grandchild.

Robert Lewis Gilliam

HAWTHORNE - Robert Lewis Gilliam died Jan. 16 at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 52.

Mr. Gilliam was born in Orlando and moved to Hawthorne four months ago.

He was a retired roofing foreman.

Survivors include daughters Sandra Samuels of Hawthorne, and Tracy Ryles and Tangela Freeman, both of Orlando; sons Michael Gifford of Orlando and Ira Gifford of Hines, Ga.; 19 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Helen Scott Jones

NEWBERRY - Helen Scott Jones, a lifelong resident of Newberry, died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 57.

The University of Florida graduate was a retired school teacher and a member of Mount Zura Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Conney Whitehead of Newberry; sons Rodney E. Scott of Newberry and Chad D. Scott of Gainesville; sisters Leal Fisher and Sarah Scott, both of Newberry; and 12 grandchildren.

H. William Hamilton

H. William Hamilton of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. He was 77.

Mr. Hamilton was born in Montgomery, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from Miami 53 years ago.

He was a retired auto mechanic. He was a member of Bartley Temple United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher. He was also active with the prayer service.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the D-Day invasion.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Lois Hamilton; and sons Johnny L. Hamilton and Joseph Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma C. Hamilton of Gainesville; daughters Cynthia Morani of Boca Raton and Sheila Bryant of Gainesville; a son, Dwayne Dixon of Gainesville; a sister, Bessie Bryant of Jacksonville; and three grandchildren.

Catherine W. Hoag

WALDO - Catherine W. Hoag died Monday at her residence. She was 84.

Mrs. Hoag was born in Utica, N.Y., and moved to Waldo from Melrose three years ago.

She was a Catholic and a retired clerk with the Office of Personnel Management for the U.S. Army.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin F. Hoag.

She has no immediate survivors.

Donna Charlene Hunt

Donna Charlene Hunt of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida. She was 42.

Mrs. Hunt was born in Pittsburgh and moved to Gainesville 12 years ago.

She was an office assistant. She served in the U.S. Army. She graduated from Santa Fe Community College.

Survivors include daughters Tanika Jones and Latoya Hunt, both of Gainesville; and a brother, Clifford C. Hunt of South Carolina.

Zennie Mae James

Zennie Mae James of St. Petersburg died Jan. 18 in St. Petersburg.

She was 51.

The former Hawthorne resident was a homemaker.

Local survivors include her mother, Novellar Bessent of Johnson; and brothers Lavern and Harry Bessent Jr., both of Johnson.

W.D. Koon Sr.

FORT WHITE - W.D. Koon Sr., a lifelong resident of Fort White, died Tuesday at Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was 64.

Mr. Koon was the retired owner and operator of Koon's Timber Co. and the Goose Nest Restaurant.

He was a member of the Lake City Church of Christ.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the University of Florida Gator Boosters.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Deese Koon of Fort White; a son, William D. Koon Jr. of Fort White; daughters Kathy Valentine and Kerri Nash, both of Palm Bay; his mother, Gussie Slocum of Fort White; brothers Bob and Tom Koon, both of Fort White; a sister, Elmira Thorton of Fort White; and six grandchildren.
