Eliger Williams

Eliger Williams, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Friday at his residence following a lingering illness.

He was 81.

Mr. Williams was a retired landscaper and a member of Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his companion, Agnes Perry of Gainesville; a daughter, Alberta W. Brown of Gainesville; a sister, Estella Clark of Gainesville; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandchild.

Charles Chester Woodard

WILLISTON - Charles Chester Woodard, a lifelong resident of Williston, died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida following an extended illness.

He was 71.

Mr. Woodard was a truck driver.

He attended the Levy County public schools.

Survivors include daughters Peggy, Gina and Tonya Woodard and Ruby Lee Soloman, all of DeLand, Dolly Woodard of Philadelphia, Carolyn Young, Jannie Edwards and Gussie Boatwright, all of Williston, Pearlie May Charles of Miami and Marshall Harris of Gainesville; sons Tommie Lee Woodard of Gainesville, L.C. Zimmerman of DeLand, and Kevin, Daniel and Christopher Woodard and Alvin Oats, all of Williston; and many grandchildren.

Jane Corrine Zacher

BRANFORD - Jane Corrine Zacher died Tuesday at her residence.

She was 82.

Mrs. Zacher was a recording artist. Under the stage name Jane Turzey, she performed on five records, including "Pretty Eyed Baby" and "Bing Bong Bing." She was a member of the Twin City Federation of Musicians.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Adam Zacher of Branford; a daughter, Jane Rigther of Durham, N.C.; stepsons Paul Zacher of Port St. Lucie and Gary Zacher of Branford; stepdaughters Judith Percony of Coral Springs, Deborah Ann Zacher of Windsor, Calif., Janice Zacher of Hopeland, Calif., and Arlene Zacher of Branford; and seven grandchildren.

Carl Beggs

WALDO - Carl Beggs died Monday in Gainesville. He was 81.

Mr. Beggs was born in Montcalm, W.Va., and moved to Waldo from West Virginia in 1959.

As a young man, he worked as a coal miner. After moving to Waldo, he owned and operated several local businesses.

He served as councilman and mayor of Waldo for a number of years. He was a Mason and a Shriner for more than 50 years.

He was a member of the Waldo United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Beggs; and a son, Larry Beggs.

Survivors include a daughter, Gayle Beggs Newman of Gainesville; sons Jody Beggs of Earleton and Randall Beggs of Big Pine Key; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Lonnie Ward Carpenter

LAKE CITY - Lonnie Ward Carpenter died Sunday at his residence.

He was 87.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Branford and moved to Lake City in 1953.

He was a retired mill foreman for Daniel's Lumber and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Hunt Carpenter; a son, Robert Leon Carpenter; and a daughter, Betty Elizabeth Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Susie W. Tompkins Carpenter of Lake City; daughters Wardene Brady of Lake City, Mary Ann Nettles of Baraga, Mich., and Sandra Thomas of Branford; a son, Dennis Carpenter of Lake City; stepdaughters Suzanne Thompkins and Lonnie-Jean Haltiwanger, both of Lake City; a sister, Jeanette Decker of Old Town; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Engle Jr.

CITRA - Robert L. Engle Jr. died Saturday in Citra. He was 49

Mr. Engle was born in Washington, D.C., and moved to Citra from Alachua two years ago.

He was a senior systems analyst for the Florida Farm Bureau.

He was a member of the Citra United Methodist Church and the Joyful Noise Band. He was a board member of the Citra Improvement Society.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Engle of Citra; daughters Leah Engle of Alachua and Tamisha Lee of Orlando; a son, Steven Elkins Jr. of Chicago; a brother, David Allen of Gainesville; and three grandchildren.

Robert Edward Graef

CROSS CITY - Robert Edward Graef died Thursday at his residence. He was 77.

Mr. Graef moved to Cross City six years ago from Columbus, Miss.

He was a plumber.

Survivors include a son, James Graef of Oldsmar; a daughter, Patricia Wood of Steens, Miss.; a sister, Marjorie Dickson of Crystal River; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Debra Ann Banks Howard

Debra Ann Banks Howard, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was 37.

Mrs. Howard was a cook. She attended Lincoln High School and Victory Temple Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, YaKeisha Howard of Orlando; her mother and stepfather, Erma Jean Palms and Albert Benton of Gainesville; sisters Patricia and Sheila Banks, both of Gainesville; a brother, David Benton of Gainesville; and three grandchildren.

Richard J. McPhilimy

Richard J. McPhilimy of Gainesville died Sunday at his residence following an extended illness. He was 55.

Mr. McPhilimy was born in Flint, Mich., and moved to Gainesville from Marquette, Mich., two years ago.

He was a retired sales representative in the food industry and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Walcott of Gainesville; a brother, Robert McPhilimy of Grand Blanc, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

Richard Frank Parrish

LAKE BUTLER - Richard Frank Parrish died Saturday in Dublin, Ga. He was 57.

Mr. Parrish was born in Orlando and moved to Lake Butler from DeLand 15 years ago.

He was a retired maintenance worker at Camp Blanding.

He served in the Florida National Guard. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion in Branford and of Johnstown Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Cook Parrish of Lake Butler; daughters Karen Leigh Norman, Alice Sylon Thames and Jaclyn Gail Parrish, all of Lake Butler; sisters Odessa Parrish of Lake Butler, Cathy Fagley of Fort White, Molly Champhane of DeLand and Sue Wallace of Hiram, Ga.; a brother, Matthew M. Parrish of DeLand; and four grandchildren.

Ruby Beal Ronde

Ruby Beal Ronde of Gainesville died Sunday at Gainesville Health Care Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Ronde was born in Wylam, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from Tampa in 1984.

She was a retired nurse and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mae Beal Glass of Ocala; and a brother, John F. Beal of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
