Eulice Summerlin, 91

Eulice D. Summerlin, 91, of Inglis, died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Inglis after an extended illness. She was born May 14, 1912 in Douglas, Ga., to John T. and Sarah Douglas. She was one of seven children and came here from Orlando six years ago.

Mrs. Summerlin was a homemaker and Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Parley Summerlin; two daughters, Elizabeth Summerlin and Edna Summerlin Roberts.

Survivors include a son, Veryl Summerlin of Webster; three daughters, Imogene Jorday of Waycross, Ga., Jo Ann S. Clemons and Kay Walters, both of Inglis; brother, James B. Douglas of Alexandria, La.; sister, Ellamae D. Pope of Waycross, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

William T. Troop, 72

William T. Troop, 72, of Dunnellon, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003. A native of Collingdale, Pa., he came here from Aldan, Pa., and Mayslanding, N.J.

Mr. Troop was a retired driver salesman for Coca-Cola. He was a member of College Road Baptist Church. He also was a 50-year member of the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge No. 636 and a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel M. Troop of Dunnellon; sons, David Troop and Donald Troop, both of Glenolden, Pa., Wayne Troop of Swarthmore, Pa.; sister, Isabel Young of Bear, Del.; and seven grandchildren.

Levi F. Parker, 90

Levi F. Parker, 90 of Graceville died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following an extended illness. He was a native of Mason City, Iowa.

Mr. Parker was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a watchmaker and attended the First Baptist Church of Dunnellon.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Jim Parker of Ladysmith, Wis. and Forrest Parker of Graceville; Judy Parker of Mt. Darwin, Zimbabwe, Africa; five grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Barrancus National Cemetery in Pensacola with Rev. Bob Brown officiating, under the direction of James and Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville.

Herbert F. Goss Jr., 87

Herbert F. Goss Jr., 87, of Dunnellon, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, in Orlando. A native of North Braddock, Pa., he came here in 1977 from Summerville, W.Va.

Mr. Goss was a bridge builder employed by American Bridge Div. of U.S. Steel. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Davis of Orlando; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Kathleen S. Graber, 57

Kathleen Sue Graber, 57, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Summerfield Suites Hospice House. Born Sept. 10, 1945 in Detroit, Mich., to the late Harold and Mollie Lingenfelter, she came to Florida in 1972 from Taylor, Mich.

Mrs. Graber was a licensed clinical director for Camelot Care of Ocala.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Lyle D.; two sons, Mathew J. Graber and his wife, Darla of Dunnellon, and Craig A. Graber of Ocala; sister, Nancy Davis of Holiday; and a grandson.

Pierce E. Hagen, 91

Pierce Edward Hagen, 91, of Ocala, died on Friday, July 4, 2003, at The Bridge Assisted Living Facility in Ocala. A native of Glens Falls, N.Y., he came here in 1981 from Sarasota, Fla.

Mr. Hagen was a retired classifications analyst for the New York State Department of Corrections in Elmyra, retiring with 30 years of service. He was Episcopalian.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Ruth A. Hagen; daughters Susan Freeman of Burdett, N.Y. and Barbara Metivier of Hamburg, N.Y.; son Robert Miller of Brockport, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mr. Hagen was preceded in death by a brother, the late John Hagen.

Jane H. Ketcham, 94

Jane Helene Ketcham, 94, of Dunnellon, died on Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City. A native of Newark, N.J., she came to Dunnellon 18 years ago from Fort Lauderdale.

Mrs. Ketcham was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. She also worked during World War II at Rariton Arsenal in Piscataway, N.J., where she was responsible for bomb assembly during the war.

Survivors include two sons, Paul V. and Franklin Ketcham, both of Deltona; daughter, Rosemarie Hellegaard of Dunnellon; brother, Franklin Michenfelder of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ketcham was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, the late Harry P. Ketcham, on April 6, 1969 and a daughter, the late Anne Tenaglia, in 1990.

Friends were received on July 8 at Fero Funeral Home, Dunnellon. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 9 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, with Fr. Joseph Pinchock, celebrant. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale.

Calvin D. Nichols, 63

Calvin D. Nichols, 63, of Dunnellon, died Friday, July 4, 2003. A native of Tide Water, Fla., he was a life long resident.

Mr. Nichols was a truck driver, formerly employed by Ocala Lumber Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Nichols of Dunnellon and Geoff Nichols, U.S. Navy, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Cynthia Haynes of New Port Richey, Cheryl Myers of Toledo, Ohio, Camillia Post of Dunnellon; mother, Ione Nichols of Dunnellon; brother, Sanford Nichols of Dunnellon; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

James E. Reed, 64

James Edward Reed, 64, of Dunnellon, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at his residence. A native of Oneida, N.Y., he moved here in 1996 from Central Square, N.Y.

Mr. Reed was supervisor of computer network maintenance for General Electric Corp. He was a member of Pitcher Hill Community Church of North Syracuse, was active in the church youth group, was a Boy Scout troop leader, a mentor in Take Stock in Children-Ocala, a hunter, fisherman, golfer and tennis player.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Susan; sons, Bradley Reed of Wrightwood, N.Y., Brian Reed of Rochester, N.Y., and Scott Reed of Syracuse, N.Y.; daughters, Deborah Reed of Oswego, N.Y., Christine Farren of Wilmington, Del., and Lorie Reed of Alpine, N.Y.; stepsons, Donald and Michael Hoxie of Syracuse; sisters, Marylea Grogan of Oneida, N.Y., Donna McGrady of Munnsville, N.Y., and Judy Parvu of Vernon, N.Y.; brothers, Steven Reed of Verona, N.Y., Robert Reed of Victor, N.Y., and Norman Reed of Munnsville; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Gordon J. Rowley, 79

Gordon J. Rowley, 79, of Dunnellon, died on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his residence. A native of Louisville, Ky., he came here in 1998 from there.

Mr. Rowley was a retired head mechanic for the former Lorrilord Tobacco Company of Louisville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of both Disabled American Veterans and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mary K.; son, Michael Rowley of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter, Linda Rowley of Louisville; stepson, David Durik of Louisville; step-daughters, Adrienne Urbanec of Tokyo, Japan; Claudia Durik of Boulder, Colo.; and Amanda Durik of Madison, Wis.; two sister; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Michael R. Thomas, 44

Michael R. "Ranger Mike" Thomas, 44, of Yankeetown, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in Crystal River. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he came here in 1978 from Brooksville.

Mr. Thomas was a forest ranger employed by the Division of Forestry. He was a member of the Schooter Haven Country Club.

Survivors include his wife Teresa; two sons, Michael Thomas of Atlanta, Ga. and Shane Thomas of Yankeetown; daughter, Christina Thomas of Crystal River; mother, Johanna Thomas of Clarksville, Ga.; brother, Grey Thomas of Brooksville; sister, Pam Hipp of Clarksville, Ga.; and one grandchild.

Jean C. Harrell, 83

Jean C. Harrell, 83, of Williston, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, in Ocala. A native of London, she moved to the Rainbow Springs area from Washington, N.C., in 1992 and to Williston in 2000.

Mrs. Harrell was a homemaker and a Christian.

Survivors include a son, Robert B. Harrell of Haymarket, Va.; daughters, Rebecca Ann Harrell of Willston, Jean DeWitt Harrell-Bennett; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brent Harrell Sr., on Dec. 29, 1998.
