Owen J. Starnes, 82, Farmer

Owen James Starnes, 82, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, in Lake Panasoffkee. A native of Campbell, Mo., he lived here since 1975, formerly of Seminole. Mr. Starnes was a farmer and sheet metal worker in the roofing industry and founder of Starnes & Son Sheet Metal of Lake Panasoffkee and Pinellas Park. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II. He was Protestant. Survivors include three sons, David Starnes and Stephen Starnes, both of Lake Panasoffkee, Joe Starnes of Seminole; two daughters, Anne Kelly of Salem, Ore., and Mary Beth Briggs of Dallas, Ore.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Burl Starnes of Pontiac, Mich., and Bill Starnes of Caraway, Ark.; two sisters, Barbara Sue Gillis of St. Louis, Mo. and Flora Pollaro of Kenai, Ark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake & Sumter, 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, Fla. 32778-9972. Interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Linda Walker, 78, Nurse

Linda Walker, 78, of Coleman, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in Coleman. A native of Harlan County, Ky., she was a resident of Sumter County since 1980, formerly of Harlan County, Ky. Mrs. Walker was a nurse a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. Survivors include a son, Hugo Von Walker of Oxnard, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Leonel Kugle of Noxapater, Miss., and Sonna Walker of Coleman; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Staley of McKee, Ky., and Helen Draker of Connersville, Ind. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Joan F. Wolff, 63, Homemaker

Joan Frances Wolff, 63, of Bushnell, died Friday, June 27, 2003, in Inverness. A native of Rochester, N.Y., she moved here in 1996 from St. Petersburg.

Mrs. Wolff was a homemaker and a member of Saint Francis Episcopal Church. Survivors include her husband, Walter E.; two sons, Frank Nicely of Baltimore, Md. and Ralph Wolff of Bushnell; three daughters, Catherine Lombaro of Davenport, Fla., Cynthia Nelson of Traverse City, Mich., Whitney Wolff of Bushnell; mother, Marion O'Leary of Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Thomas O'Leary of Rochester, N.Y., Edward O'Leary of New Hampshire; sister, Patricia Glogowski of Rochester, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; two stepsons, Dan Wolff of St. Peters, Mo., Brian Wolff of Wendover, Utah; mother-in-law, Evelyn Wolff of Cochecton, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick O'Leary and sister, Mary. Memorial services were held July 8 at St. Frances Episcopal Church, Bushnell, with Rev. Marney Silk-Wright officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Gus Bandalos, 83, of Pine Run

Gus Bandalos, of Pine Run, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. A native of New York City, N.Y., he came here in 1985 from Virginia Beach, Va. He was 83.

Mr. Bandalos was owner/operator of A-Vending Machines. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Delores; daughter, Mildred Bandalos Griffin of Colorado Springs, Colo; son, Steven Bandalos of Middleburg, Fla.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary A. Baty, 85, of Citrus Springs

Mary A. Baty, of Citrus Springs, died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Citrus Springs. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., she came here in 1972 from there. She was 85.

Mrs. Baty was a waitress and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Thomas E. Baty of Smyrna, Ga.; daughter, Shirley Jackson of Murray, Ky.; brother, Art Haumesseur of Buffalo, N.Y.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon handled the arrangements.

Vera E. Dersch, 89, of OTOW

Vera E. Dersch, of OTOW, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Sylvia's Hospice. A native of Ixonia, Wis., she came here in 1996, formerly of Fond Du Lac, Wis., and Clearwater. She was 89.

Ms. Dersch was a seamstress in the retail industry and a homemaker. She was a member of Joy Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a brother, Reuben Neitzel of Watertown, Wis.; seven nieces and nephews.

Bonnie L. Gothard, 42, of Dunnellon

Bonnie L. Gothard, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. A native of Cleveland, she moved here in 1985.

Mrs. Gothard was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sons, Brandon Gothard and Justin Gothard, both of Dunnellon; father, Lee Booth of Plano, Texas; sister, Tamara Licate of Dunnellon; brother, Donald Booth and Brian Booth, both of Geneva, Ohio; grandmother, Dorothy Cornell of Spring Hill; and stepfather, Tony Licate of Brooksville.

Roberts Funeral Home, Bruce Chapel West Ocala, provided the information.

Dean C. King, 64, of Ocala

Dean C. King, of Ocala, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at his residence. A native of Mansfield, N.Y., he came here seven years ago from Little Valley, N.Y. He was 64.

Mr. King was a retired truck driver from Teamsters Local No. 679. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Little Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Donna M.; sons, Gregory D. King of Little Valley and Richard E. King of Scottsville, N.Y.; daughters, Victoria I. Kelly, Franklinville, N.Y., and Deanne C. Beeles of Ocala; brother, Dale G. King of Little Valley and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, Fla. 34478.

Chaz D. Lipford, 5 months, of Ocala

Chaz Donovan Lipford, of Ocala, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Gainesville and was 5 months old.

Survivors include his parents, Ronald and Angelique Lipford of Ocala; brother, Zachary Lipford of Ocala; paternal grandfather, Stephen Lipford of Ocala; paternal grandmother, Kathy Overly of Fort Myers and maternal grandparents, Anthony and Sherita Allen of Ocala.

David P. Murphy, 74, of Hidden Lake

David P. Murphy, of Hidden Lake, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at TimberRidge Rehabilitation Center. A native of Minneapolis, Minn., he lived here since 1989, formerly from Baton Rouge, La. He was 74.

Mr. Murphy was manager of the automotive department with Montgomery Ward and retired after 39 years of service. He was Catholic. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, C. Rosemary; daughter, Anita Lynn Stenroos of Orange Park, Fla.; two sons, Donald Larkin of Riverview, Mich. and Phillip Larkin of Trenton, Mich; four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1333 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, Fla. 32804.

Rev. Angelo Nesta, 73, of OTOW

The Rev. Angelo Nesta, of OTOW, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Tunkhannock, Pa. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Dec. 11, 1929, son of the late Mauro and Lucia Nesta. He was 73.

The Rev. Nesta was a graduate of Madison High School class of 1948, and a 1951 graduate of Valley Forge Christian College. After graduation he served as a pastor in several Assembly of God churches for 15 years. During that time he served as pastor at the Christian Assembly of God Church on N. Hampton St. in Wilkes-Barre. In 1965, he became a missionary with the Assembly of God Church in Italy and remained there for 30 years until his retirement in 1995.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Helen Kahuy Nesta; son, Mauro Nesta of Bloomfield, N.Y.; daughter, Maureen Hutchens of Severn, Md.; sister, Rose Savignano of Tunkhannock; four grandchildren; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 11, at the Bartolomeo Funeral Home, Rochester, N.Y., with the Rev. Anthony Foti officiating. Interment was in White Haven Cemetery, Rochester, N.Y.

Theodore "Ted" Stasiak, 75, of Marion Landing

Theodore "Ted" Stasiak, of Marion Landing, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Summerfield Suites of Marion County, Summerfield. A native of Yonkers, N.Y., he resided in the Ocala area since 1990, formerly of Sayville, L.I., N.Y.

Mr. Stasiak was owner/operator of Alpine Metal Products, Inc. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris; son, Theodore Michael Stasiak of Ocala; and two sisters, Florence Walpole of Tarpon Springs and Nancy Tocco of Yonkers, N.Y.

Robert "Bob" Vaughan, 71, of Spruce Creek North

Robert "Bob" Vaughan, of Spruce Creek North, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center. A native of Stewart Manor, L.I., N.Y., he has lived here since 1992, formerly of Farmingdale, N.Y. He was 71.

Mr. Vaughan was a retired supervisor underwriter. He was Catholic and a member of Angela Santos VFW Post 4781, Ocala and the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Mae; daughter, Donna Jean Singer of Holbrook, N.Y.; son, Andrew Vaughan of Annapolis, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.

Reta V. Boekholt, 80

Reta Vivian Boekholt, 80, of Bushnell and Lavallette, N.J., died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Spring Hill after a brief illness. She was born in Bangor, Maine. Mrs. Boekholt graduated from the Hampden Academy. During World War II she was employed at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. She lived in Lavallette, N.J. until her retirement in 1985. She, along with her husband, founded the Ben Franklin Store, Lavallette, N.J., in 1948. She was a life member of the Seaside Chapter of Deborah Hospital, founding member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Lavallette, N.J., past member of the Lavallette PTA and the Eastern Star and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Bushnell. She will be remembered for her gentle manner, her love of family and friends and love of every-day life. She was a member of Nobleton Community Church. Survivors include a son, James Boekholt Jr. of Lavallette, N.J.; daughter, Joan Boekholt Lapi of Bushnell; sister, Dora Miller of Miami; two grandsons, James Boekholt, III of Brick, N.J. and Jason Boekholt of Lavallette, N.J.; two great granddaughters, Kate Marie Boekholt and Claire Olivia Boekholt, both of Brick, N.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Boekholt Sr. in 1994. Burial was at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nobleton Community Church, Bushnell VFW or Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Harriette Cory, 84, Homemaker

Harriette Cory, 84, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Wildwood. A native of Friendship, N.Y., she was a resident of Lake Panasoffkee since 1968, formerly of Tampa. Ms. Cory was a lockmaster at the Rufus Wysong Dam in Lake Panasoffkee for 17 years. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #10084 and a member of the Women of the Moose. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three nieces. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Louise M. Cox, 73, Office manager

Louise Marie Cox, 73, of Wildwood, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003. A native of Jonesville, Va., she moved to Wildwood in 1987 from Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Cox was a branch office manager at Western Union. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wildwood. She wrote the newsletter for Parkwood Oaks Community of Wildwood. Survivors include two sons, David D. Cooke and William F. Cooke, both of Baltimore, Md.; sister, Geneva Krantz of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; and a half brother, Merle Collins of Hanover, Pa. Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg, handled the arrangements.

Marjory H. Derden, 78, Homemaker

Marjory H. Derden, 78, of Wildwood, died July 29, 2003, in Leesburg. She was born Feb. 1, 1925 and was native to Webster. Mrs. Derden was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Stars in Wildwood Chapter #24. Survivors include her husband, Fred; brother, Udell Hall of Webster; sisters, Theda Dyess of Wildwood, Eleanor Wadsacer of Altamonte Springs, Wynette Pergola of Jacksonville, and Cale Hall of Wildwood; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Aug. 1 at the First Baptist Church of Wildwood with Brother Claude MacAdams and Rev. Craig Attaway officiating. Burial was at Garden of Memories in Webster. Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood, handled the arrangements.

Patricia Ann Johnson, 64, RN

Patricia Ann Johnson, 64, of Center Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Dade City. A native of Woonsocket, R.I., she moved to Central Florida in 1972 from Memphis, Tenn. She was a registered nurse and retired from East Pasco Medical Center as the night supervisor. She was Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, Tommie; daughter, Kathleen Nix of St. Petersburg; grandchildren, Justin Hauck of Center Hill, Heather Hauck of New York, N.Y.; aunts, Ruth Croutear of N. Smithfield, R.I., and Ethel Bailey of Woonsocket, R.I. Services were held Aug. 6 at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel in Bushnell with Rev. Marvin Strickland officiating. Interment at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.
