Paul Wongrey Inverness

Paul Wongrey, Inverness, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in Tampa.

A native of Czechoslovakia, he came here in 1987 from St. Petersburg.

Mr. Wongrey was an attorney.

He was a 1938 graduate of Stetson Law School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Mitchell Wongrey of Inverness.

Roxie Long, 92, Lecanto

Roxie C. Long, 92, Lecanto, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, in Lecanto.

She was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Mangum, Okla., to John and Molly McKibbon. She came here from St. Petersburg in 1984.

She was a homemaker.

She was Baptist.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Charles W. Long of Lecanto; son Doyle (Judith) Long of Lecanto; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

LaVona Mitchell, 76 Inverness

LaVona May Mitchell, 76, Inverness, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in Inverness.

She was born May 18, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., to Bertrand and Bertha Sadler.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Mitchell, in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, James Mitchell of Orlando and Steven Mitchell and his wife, Suzanne, of Ocala.

Raymond L. Sheehan, 82 Homosassa

Raymond L. Sheehan, 82, Homosassa, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Brentwood Health Care in Lecanto.

He was born June 30, 1921, in Modena, Wis. He moved to the area 12 years ago from Minnesota.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

He was a past member of the West Citrus Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Sheehan, who died in 1996.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Sheehan of Homosassa; two brothers, Jim Sheehan of Eau Claire, Wis., and John Sheehan of Lonsdale, Wis.; a sister, Mary Bieluieu and her husband, Leo, of Port Charlotte; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Donald Cline, 57 Homosassa

Donald L. Cline, 57, Homosassa, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in Homosassa.

Born Oct. 18, 1945, in Washington, D.C., he came here in 1993 from Okeechobee.

Mr. Cline was an electrician.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Mildred W. Cline of Homosassa; two sons, James Cline and Robert Panholzier, both of Homosassa; one daughter, Robin Wilbur of Rome, Ga.; a brother, Ron Cline of Okeechobee; a sister, Kathy Sellers of Okeechobee; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Roy Thompson, 81 Beverly Hills

Roy T. Thompson, 81, Beverly Hills, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in Inverness.

Born July 15, 1922, he came here in 1984 from Clawson, Mich.

Mr. Thompson was a maintenance supervisor, U.S. Government, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Doris Thompson; one son; one daughter; one sister; four grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Donald Van Orden, 59 Beverly Hills

Donald Van Orden, 59, Pine Ridge, Beverly Hills, died as a result of an automobile accident in Crystal River Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2003.

He was born in Patterson, N.J., to Gilbert and Mary (McKinny) Van Orden and came here 12 years ago from West Milford, N.J.

Mr. Van Orden was a sales associate for Love Nissan-Honda of Homosassa. He was a mortgage officer in New Jersey and in Florida.

He was a graduate of Butler High School, Butler, N.J., and then joined the U.S. Army. He was immediate past president and chairman of the board of directors of the Citrus Sertoma Club and was a tireless volunteer for the organization. He enjoyed golf, family and friends.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Lecanto.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Jane Van Orden of Pine Ridge; his mother, Mary Van Orden of Pine Ridge; a sister, Doris Van Voorhis of Ocala; mother-in-law, Marie DeLime of Pine Ridge; a niece; and a nephew.

Marion J. Coleman, 92, Photo engraver

Marion James Coleman, 92, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Hinesville, Ga., he was a resident of Sumter County since 1965. Mr. Coleman was an engraver for the Tampa Tribune for 35 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Engravers. He served in the U.S. Government Calvary. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Lake Panasoffkee and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maude Della Coleman. Survivors include his wife Vera Belle Coleman of Jacksonville; son, Ronald Coleman and wife, Barbara, of Lake Pansoffkee; daughter, Carolyn White and husband, Pete, of Lake Panasoffkee; two grandsons, Jason White and wife, Kim of Ocala, Bradley White and wife, Shari, of Okeechobee; two great granddaughters, Jordyn Ann White and Regan McKensie White; stepson, Butch Jerrell; two stepdaughters, Jenny Fletcher and Sherry Parramore. Services were held Aug. 19 at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel, Bushnell, with Rev. Bill Britt officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home Chapel, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Dorothy Luszczewski, 91, RN

Dorothy Luszczewski, 91, of Wildwood, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in Wildwood. A native of New Brunswick, N.J., she moved here in 1989 from Metuchen, N.J. Ms. Luszczewski was a registered nurse and graduated from St. Peters Hospital School of Nursing. She was Catholic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; son, Donald; and sisters Leone and Fran. Survivors include a nephew, Edward Zimmerman; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, N.J. Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood.

Myrtle Miller, 86, Beautician

Myrtle Miller, 86, of Oxford, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Bernice, Ky., she moved here in 1981 from Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Miller was a retired beautician. She was a member of Wildwood Assembly of God, past volunteer for SHARE and the Soup Kitchen in Wildwood. Survivors include sons Russell Napier of Cincinnati, Ohio, Johnny Napier of Toledo, Ohio; daughters, Hattie Richmond of New Richmond, Ohio, Jaunita Brock of Bellevue, Ky., Libby McLean of Eustis; several grandchildren including Samantha Symonds, Amanda Pope, Wayne Iredale, Richard Brock, Aimee Centrulla, Tim O'Leary; and many, many great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be -held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood, with Rev. Dan Parker officiating. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Lewis E. Neal, 92, Carpenter

Lewis E. Neal, 92, of Webster, died after a long illness, on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at his home. A native of Daytona Beach on Dec. 18, 1910, he was a resident of Sumter County since 1968, formerly of St. Pete. Mr. Neal was a home builder in the St. Petersburg area for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. Catherine Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Nancy Lee (Kerns) Neal of Webster. Graveside services were held on Aug. 19 at Garden of Memories, Webster, with Rev. Michael Graham officiating. Interment was at Garden of Memories. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Lowell Warnock, 76, Field auditor

Lowell "Talker" Warnock, 76, of Oxford and Blairsville, Ga., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, after an extended illness. He was born on May 13, 1927 in Oxford. Mr. Warnock was a graduate of Wildwood High School and of Florida State University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer U.S. Brinkley Bass and a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He was a retired field auditor for the Florida Department of Labor. In recent years he had designed and developed Warnock Mountain Acres Subdivision in Blairsville, Ga. He was an avid genealogist, historian and a collector of antique bottles and Indian artifacts. Lowell was a former farmer and a cattleman in Oxford, was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette of Oxford and Blairsville; his beloved daughters Carol Poole of Crawfordville and Letitia Brown of Lynn Haven, Fla.; granddaughters Amanda Warner, Xanthia Clark, Chelsea Warer, Katherine Poole, Leah Poole and Lee Anne Brown; grandsons Ryan Warner, Craig Brown and Donnie Brown; great granddaughter Nia Kelley; sisters, Ernestine Warnock and Lillian Lawrence of Jacksonville, and Lois Wilson of Ocala; brothers, Herman Warnock of Hamlet, N.C., and Wendell Warnock of Oxford. He was preceded in death by a brother Edward W. Warnock and a sister Lynette Warnock Tabor.

Services were held at the Oxford Methodist Church on Aug. 19 with Rev. Harry Hollowman and Rev. Gaylor officiating. The burial followed at Pine Level Cemetery in Oxford. Contributions can be made to the Oxford Methodist Church, 3906 E. C.R. 466, Oxford, Fla. 34484 or to the American Cancer Society. Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood.
