Ruth M. Budrick, 71, of Wildwood, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Stoughton, Mass., she moved here in 1988 from there. Mrs. Budrick was a homemaker and nursery school teacher's aide. She was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church, Martha's Circle, and Arts and Crafts Club in Parkwood Oaks. Survivors include her husband Al; sons, Alan Budrick of Taunton, Mass., Bruce Budrick of Lincoln, Calif.; daughters, Linda Costello of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brenda Neagle of Raynham, Mass., Alison Budrick of Pompano Beach; brother, Bob (Mimi) Cohenno; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Oct. 4 at Wildwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Holloman officiating. Burial was at Knollwood Cemetery, Canton, Mass. Thomas Kerce, 69, Traffic manager
Thomas (Tommy) Kerce, 69, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Gainesville, he was a resident of Lake Panasoffkee, formerly of Tampa. Mr. Kerce was a traffic manager for Central and Smalley Trucklines. He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Anne; two daughters, Debbie Eller of Niceville, Fla. and Sherry O'Donnell of Tampa; four grandchildren, Thomas "T.J." Eller, Mark Clements, Tiffanie Harrelson and Christopher O'Donnell; one great grandchild, Rileigh Anne Harrelson and Bryant Thomas Eller, who is due on Tommy's birthday; two sisters, Mary Sue Hurst of Winter Haven and Rubina McLeod of Keystone Heights, Fla. Bernard Moerdyk, 76, Career Naval Officer
Bernard "Bernie" Moerdyk, 76, of Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly of Bushnell, died on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was a career Naval officer serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. In retirement he acted as the Post Commander for several years in the American Legion, Bushnell, and he volunteered as the Chaplain at the Florida National Cemetery organizing military honors for many of the veterans buried there. Survivors include a son, Steven (Judy) Moerdyk of Byron Center, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Thayer of Lafayette, Ind., Rachel and Steven Moerdyk of Byron Center, Mich.; two great grandchildren, Austin and Ashlyn Thayer; three brothers, Fred Lewis, Bill (Jeannie) Lewis and Jack Lewis; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula "Lu" Moerdyk; daughter, Dianna Moerdyk; daughter-in-law, Jackie Moerdyk and sister, Nancy Spriggs. Services were held Oct. 6 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with Military Honors rendered by Marine Corps League 708. Interment at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Rebecca Sharpe Hurlbert, 71, of Titusville, died
Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at home. She was born in Bushnell and came to Brevard County in 1954 from Gainesville. Mrs. Hurlbert was a member of First United Methodist Church of Titusville. Survivors include her son, Larry Sease Sr. of Titusville; daughters, Sherri Miller of Melbourne and Wanda Brownson of Dacula, Ga.; step-daughter, Pamela Sachs of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; brothers, Hervey Sharpe of Hendersonville, N.C., William Sharpe of Tallahassee; sisters, Hazel Binger of Crossville, Tenn., and Eloise Cassady of Deland, Fla. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Swain of Bushnell. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 27, at First United Methodist Church of Titusville. Dollie Workman, 53, of Bushnell, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, in Bushnell. A native of West Virginia, she moved to Sumter County in 1987, formerly of Tampa. Ms. Workman was a corrections officer. She was Pentacostal. Survivors include her mother, Julia Gay Preast; three -brothers, Glen Workman, Arnold Crouse and Raymond Crouse; six sisters, Iris Mendez, Rebecca Preast, Helen Salinas, Cheryl Lennox, Melissa Mendez, Rebecca Reed; many nieces and nephews. Roxalana M. Baldo, 68, of Bushnell, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Webster. A native of Jacksonville, she was a resident of Sumter County since 1984, formerly of Franklinville, N.Y. Mrs. Baldo was a homemaker. She was of the Episcopal faith. Survivors include a brother, Clarence C. Walter H. Bedgood, 78, of Ocala, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in Ocala. A native of Mt. Vernon, Ga., he moved here in 1960 from Clearwater. Mr. Bedgood was a retired Merchant Marine Steward and local food service manager. He attended school in Webster and lived in Central Florida over 70 years of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Oakcrest Baptist Church in Ocala and the VFW Post 209, Ocala. Survivors include his wife, Audrey C.; three sons, Richard Bedgood and Ronald Bedgood, both of Ocala, and Raymond Bedgood of Tampa; daughter, Annette Quinn of Ocala; brother, Dan Bedgood of Crystal River; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Anthony J. Caprio, 79, of Wildwood, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Hoboken, N.J., he moved here in 1987 from Jersey City, N.J. Mr. Caprio was a retired truck driver and worked as a security guard in Continental Country Club for the past 17 years. He was Catholic and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Leslie A. Ferris, 77, Beauty shop
Leslie A. Ferris, 77, of DeFuniak Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in a Fort Walton Beach hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1925 in Center Hill, the daughter of Walter and Stella Eigenraugh Archibald. Mrs. Ferris was a charter member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Post 98 of Euchee Valley. She was the first commander of the Revised District #1 of DAV. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, secretary of the Vacation Bible School and church treasurer for many years. She was also a member of Chautauqua Cyber Club where she was membership chairperson. Many will remember Leslie in her long-time employment with Burlie's Beauty Shop. She had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord God and possessed a youthful exuberance for life. She was preceded in death by her husband, TSG Retired Air Force James N. Ferris; her son, James N. Ferris and two brothers-in-law: Charles W. Ferris and Aulock W. Anlund. Survivors include her daughter, Mariea Creamer of DeFuniak Springs; granddaughter, Robin Langford and husband Davis, and her sister-in-law, Helen Anlund, all of DeFuniak Springs. Born April 24, 1954, in North East, Pa., to Lester and Mae Blakeslee, he moved here in 1986 from Erie, Pa.
Mr. Blakeslee was a driver for Tile Contractors Supply Company in Lecanto.

Mr. Bradley was a retired repairman for New England Telephone & Telegraph and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
