Robert F. Romaine, 77, of Hernando

Robert "Bob" F. Romaine, of Hernando, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, in Homosassa. A native of Chicago, he moved here in 2001 from Burke, Va. He was a former Marion Landing resident. He was 77.

Mr. Romaine retired from the Small Business Administration after 22 years. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Elks, and Loyal Order of the Moose.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, of Hernando; sons, Robert A. Romaine of Hernando and John M. Romaine of Maui, Hawaii; daughter, Susan A. Murphy of Ocala and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Pride Band Program, Trinity Catholic High School.

Roberts Funeral Home, Bruce Chapel West Ocala, provided the information.

Walter F. Wulf, 85, of Ocala Palms

Walter F. Wulf, of Ocala Palms, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at TimberRidge Rehabilitation Center, Ocala. A native of Belleville, N.J., he resided in the Ocala area since 2000, formerly of Fort Myers. He was 85.

Mr. Wulf was a retired metallurgist with the U.S. Defense Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European Theater.

He was Lutheran.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley; daughter, Patricia Sabisch of Middletown, Del.; son, Robert Wulf of Loganville, Ga.; three sisters, Eleanor Seefeldt of Waukesha, Wis., Lorraine Boike of Osconda, Mich., and Ruth Sherman of Brighton, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, TimberRidge, handled the arrangements.

Mary K. Blackmon, 77

Mary K. Blackmon, 77, of Wildwood, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Wildwood. She was born in Wildwood. Mrs. Blackmon retired in 1986 after 42 years working for Seaboard Airline Coastline. He was a member of Wildwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Tommy Blackmon of Brooksville; brothers, Harold (Ramona) Kelly of Thonotosassa and Robert Kelly of Tampa; sister, Betty (Travis) McCurry of Forest City, N.C. Services were held at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood, with Rev. Harry Holloman officiating. Burial was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Wildwood. Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood, handled the arrangements.

Dorothy J. Bullock, 74, Homemaker

Dorothy Jean Bullock, 74, of Sumterville, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, in Sumterville. A native of Wildwood, she was a resident of Sumter County for more of her life. Mrs. Bullock was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband for many years. She was a member of Clay Sink Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Joe (Linda) Bullock of Tarrytown, Fla.; five daughters, Gwen (Bob) Stange of Sumterville, Jean Shaw of Mascotte, Fla., Jimmye (Rocky) Frazier of Groveland, Joyce Bullock of Sumterville, Dottie (Mike) Huff of Juliet, Ga.; one brother, Raleigh Bridges of Groveland; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Services were held Dec. 7 at Purcell Funeral Home chapel in Bushnell with Rev. Jerry McDaniel officiating. Interment was at the Linden Cemetery in Webster. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

William A. Horne, 86, Assembly worker

William A. Horne, 86, of Bushnell, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Dade City. A native of Flint, Mich., he lived in Bushnell since 1993, formerly of Flint, Grand Blanc, Mich. Mr. Horne was an assembly worker and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Hattie; two daughters, Jan Fritzler of Webster and Kathryn J. LaVeck of New York; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Dec. at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel in Bushnell with Rev. Al Dotson officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Jane C. Knight, 72, Teacher

Jane Collins Knight, 72, of Leesburg and Jefferson, Ga., died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Jefferson, Ga. She was born in Webster. Mrs. Knight was a teacher and Methodist. Survivors include a son, Tommy Knight of Jefferson, Ga.; daughter, Katherine Knight of Jefferson, Ga.; two grandchildren; brother, David Collins of Cocoa, Fla.; sister, Elizabeth Carter of Jacksonville. Graveside services were held Dec. 7 at Garden of Memories, Webster, with Rev. Haig Medzarentz officiating. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

James T. Mauldin, 67, Electrician

James T. Mauldin, 67, of Bushnell, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Bushnell. A native of Arcadia, Fla., he was a resident of Bushnell since 2003, formerly of Riverview where he was known as "Captain Tom - The Drifter." Mr. Mauldin was an electrician. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include two sons, Jeff Mauldin and Mike Mauldin, both of Bushnell; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Carl Mauldin Jr. of Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Bonnie Lou Wilson, 77, Homemaker

Bonnie Lou Wilson, 77, of Webster, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, in Bushnell. A native of Noma, Fla., she was a longtime resident of Sumter County. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of Linden Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Wilson and Mark Wilson, both of Webster; one daughter, Connie Williams of Sumterville; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Davis of Webster; three sisters, Maxine Lee of Center Hill, Nina Ruth Carroll of Live Oak, Willene Head of Coleman. Services were held Dec. at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel, Bushnell, with The Rev. Eric Anderson officiating. Interment at Garden of Memories, Webster. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Jeanette R. Swinehart, 80, Homemaker

Jeanette R. Swinehart, 80, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Lake Panasoffkee. A native of Lily, Wis., she moved to Sumter County 18 years ago from Wisconsin. Mrs. Swinehart was a homemaker and was Lutheran. Survivors include her husband, Glen F.; one son, Gordon Swinehart of Oak Creek, Wis; one daughter, Linda Joeckel of Beaver Dam, Wis., and four grandchildren. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Clara June Wilson, 71, Clerk

Clara June Wilson, 71, of Webster, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in Webster. A native of Webster, she was a lifetime resident of Sumter County. A native of Webster she was a lifetime resident of Sumter County. Ms. Wilson was a clerk and a member of Clay Sink Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Loa Lee Dobson of Monticello, Fla.; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Services were held on Dec. 4 at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel, Bushnell with Rev. Jerry McDaniel and Pastor Steven Dobson officiating. Interment at Garden of Memories, Webster. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Wilda W. Belk, 79, Homemaker

Wilda W. Belk, 79, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Fairbank, Iowa, on June 27, 1924 to the late Peter J. and Elizabeth (Niehbur) Wierck, she came here in 1971 from Hanover, Ill. Mrs. Belk was a homemaker, a member of the Lake Panasoffkee United Methodist Church and the Lake Panasoffkee Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H. Belk Feb. 27, 1999. Survivors include three sons, Robert G. Belk of Orange Park, Dennis L. (Louise) Belk of Madison, Wis. and Kurt L. Belk of Webster; daughter, Debra (Roger) Berry of Leesburg; three sisters, Mildred Hunemueller of Waterloo, Iowa, Helen Johnston of Morro Bay, Calif., Verna Curtis of Evansdale, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 12 at the Lake Panasoffkee United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes, Gift of Remembrance Headquarters, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Road, #415, Maitland, Fla. 32751. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.

William E. Conn, 94, Carpenter

William Edward Conn, 94, of Crystal River, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. A native of Tunnelton, W.Va., he moved to Florida in 1959, formerly of West Virginia. Mr. Conn was a carpenter. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II. He was Baptist. Survivors include two sons, William E. Conn, III of Hazelete, Mich., and Wilber L. Conn of Potterville, Mich.; two daughters, Carol C. Wood of Potterville, Mich., and Ida Baker of Bushnell; stepdaughter, Jo Ann Naylor of Elkview, W. Va.; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with the Rev. Ed Button officiating. Interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Janet L. Demarest, 64, Homemaker

Janet Louise Demarest, 64, of Bushnell, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Dade City. A native of Mill Hall, Pa., she has been a resident of Bushnell since 1985, formerly of Fort Lauderdale. Mrs. Demarest was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bushnell. Survivors include her husband, David A. Demarest; son, Michael Demarest of Bushnell; four grandchildren, Danielle Alvarez of Lake Panasoffkee, Morgan Demarest, Courtney Demarest, Adam Demarest, all of Bushnell; one great granddaughter, Selena Alvarez of Lake Panasoffkee; half brothers, Greg Walizer of Mill Hall, Pa., Jim Walizer of Pa.; half sister, Kim Deguioro of Lauderdale. Services were held Dec. 15, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Bushnell with Pastor Casey Ferguson officiating. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Lillian T. Doucette, 88, Homemaker

Lillian T. Doucette, 88, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Chicago, Ill, she moved here 32 years ago from Michigan. Mrs. Doucette was a homemaker and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, John W. Doucette; son, Joseph L. Mulawa of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; daughter, Joan Farris of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two sisters, Emily Grajek of Clinton Town, Mich., Cassie Podkowa of Stuart; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Betty J. Glover, 80, Homemaker

Betty Jan Glover, 80, of Bushnell, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Leesburg. She was a resident of Sumter County since 1982, formerly of Plant City. Mrs. Glover was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Donald E.; son, Ronald Sanderson of Florida; daughter, Peggy Courier of Largo; two grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; two sisters; three step-sons, Edward Glover, Allen Glover, Donald Glover, all of North Carolina; and four step-daughters, Doranna Mouser and Elfiea Close, both of Florida; Staranna Teague of North Carolina and Mary Plotts of Michigan. Services were held on Dec. 16 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, handled the arrangements.

Edward S. Hayes, 86, Farmer

Edward Stewart Hayes, 86, of Webster, died Sunday, Dec. 14, in Bushnell. A native of Eagle Lake, he moved to Webster in 1923. Mr. Hayes was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a 54-year member of the Webster United Methodist Church where he served in the past as a Trustee. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a former Board of Director of the Sumter County Farmer's Market. Survivors include a brother, Robert M. Hayes Jr. of Neenah, Wis.; sisters, Helen H. Smith, Martha Jane Hayes, both of Leesburg; niece, Peggy S. Hasley of Umatilla; nephews, Tim Smith of Orlando, Mike Hayes of Santa Barbara, Calif., Pat Hayes of Menasha, Wis., and Murph Hayes of San Diego, Calif. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his wife, Martha V. Hayes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Webster United Methodist Church with Rev. Haig Medzarentz officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories, Webster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Webster United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87, Webster, Fla. 33597 or to Hospice of Lake & Sumter, 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, Fla. 32778. Beyers Funeral Home, Umatilla.

Frances W. H. Nistendirk, 85, Florist

Frances W. Hall Nistendirk, 85, of Tallahassee, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in Tallahassee. A native of Bushnell, she lived the majority of her life in Florida, including Sumter County, Leesburg and Tallahassee. Mrs. Nistendirk was a florist, owning flower shops in DeLand, Leesburg and Lake Panasoffkee. She was a member of Chaires United Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include her husband Herbert Nistendirk of Tallahassee; two daughters, Benita Hall Sharp (and her husband, Dr. Lawrence Sharp) of Bellevue, Wash. and Linda Hall Crew (and husband Jeff Crew Jr.) of Tallahassee; son, Charles Wayne Hall (and wife Jacqueline) of N. Augusta, S.C.; three sisters, Tim Saggus of Tallahassee, Doris Woodward of Bushnell, Almarene Outlaw (and husband John) of Inverness; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and the kind caregivers at Clarebridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers, her first husband, E.T. Hall. Memorial services were held Dec. 12 at First Baptist Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Big Bend Hospice, 1123 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fla. 32308, or Alterra Clarebridge, Christmas Fund, 1980 Centre Pointe Blvd., Tallahassee, Fla. 32308.
