MUSKEGON, Mich. -- Violet G. Cox, 94, of Muskegon, who formerly lived on Bluebird Lane in Ormond Beach, died Monday at Mercy Hospital.
Mrs. Cox, a retired registered nurse, was born in Vermontville, Mich., and lived in Ormond Beach from 1977 to 2002. She was a charter member of Tomoka United Methodist Church, Ormond Beach and its JOY group. Mrs. Cox enjoyed making scrubbies to wash dishes, baking rolls and crocheting.
Survivors include two sons, John of Stuart, Fla., and William, Atlanta; a daughter, Doris Brandt, Twin Lakes, Mich.; a sister, Fern Yoder, Dowling, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and five grandchildren. EDGEWATER -- Jack Calhoun Halligan, 61, Orange Tree Drive, a retired electrical construction worker, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Halligan, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, came to this area from Baxley, Ga., his birthplace, in 1967. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Baxley, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 756 and the Halifax Lodge F&AM No. 81, both of Daytona Beach, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4472, Baxley.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Jack "J.R., " a daughter, Kasey Halligan, both of Edgewater; a brother, Ed, Daytona Beach; and a sister, Ellen Luciano, Baxley. EDGEWATER -- Lenora F. Janeski, 74, of Coleman Street, a retired sales agent for Stopper Real Estate and Nixon Real Estate, both of Williamsport, Pa., died Monday at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach.
Mrs. Janeski was born in Sharon, Pa., and moved to this area in 1982 from Garden City, S.C. She was also a sales agent for Corner Real Estate, Surfside City, S.C. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, and attended St. Gerard's Catholic Church. She enjoyed acrylic painting, bingo, playing poker and gambling.
Survivors include two brothers, James Norris, Williamsport, and John Norris, Sunbury, Pa.; and three sisters, Rachel Gardner, Edgewater, Clara Gerber, Williamsport, and Mary Capkovic, Cogan Station, Pa. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

PALM COAST -- Thurman Johnson, 95, of Boulder Rock Drive, who owned and operated a cattle farm, died Friday at home.
Mr. Johnson was born in Pleasant Hill, Mo., and came to this area in 1997 from Harrisonville, Mo. He also formerly worked for the Bendix Corp. Mr. Johnson was a member of Miracle United Pentecostal Church, Lees Summit, Mo. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Gloria; a son, Lyle, Harrisonville; three daughters, Joyce Williamson, Palm Coast, Beverly Goucher, Roseville, Calif., and Jeanette Bedgood, Olathe, Kan.; a brother, Leslie, Lowry City, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. TAMPA -- Mary Jacqueline Broadwater McCormick, 62, of Tampa, a native of Daytona Beach, died Sunday home.
Mrs. McCormick, who worked in adoption placement for the State of Florida, was a 1960 graduate of Mainland High School, Daytona Beach. She attended Florida State University, Tallahassee, and graduated with an elementary education degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville, before she moved to Tampa in 1965. Mrs. McCormick was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Tampa, where she also was lay chaplain, Eucharistic minister and choir member. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society, Friends of the Arts and the Phi Mu Sorority.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, John; and her mother, Dorothy Broadwater, and a sister, Joanne Penny, both of Daytona Beach. Pinello, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Lee R. Mathis, 77, of Lantern Drive, a firefighter who served as a captain in Chattanooga, Tenn., died Monday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mr. Mathis, a Navy veteran, moved here in 1978 from his native Chattanooga. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Hill City Masonic Lodge, the International Association of Firefighters and the Golden Glove Boxing Team. He attended the University of Chattanooga. Mr. Mathis enjoyed camping, fishing and boating.

PORT ORANGE -- Kathleen "Kathy" May, 89, of Hanover Court, a resident since 1980, died Sunday at home.
A native of Jackson Heights, N.Y., Mrs. May moved here from Little Neck, N.Y. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting.

DELTONA -- Molly S. Michelson, 90, of Duval Avenue, a book binder for a publishing company in New York City, died Monday at Florida Hospital DeLand.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Michelson moved here in 1970 from Haverhill, Mass. She also formerly worked as a singe technician for Ornsteen Shoe Factory, Haverhill. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Lucy M. Mullins, 100, of South Atlantic Avenue, a native of Valdosta, Ga., died Tuesday at Bert Fish Medical Center.
Mrs. Mullins, a homemaker, came to this area in 1925 from Madison. She was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church and its choir.

Mr. Rivera, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and moved to this area in 2003 from Puerto Rico.

Mrs. Taylor, a homemaker, was born in Jennings, Fla. She was a member of Beville Road Church of Christ, Daytona Beach.

EDGEWATER -- Janice Thomason, 91, of Orange Avenue, a native of Kanawha County, W.Va., died Monday at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Longwood.
Mrs. Thomason, a homemaker, came here in 1972 from Charleston, W.Va. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, New Smyrna Beach. Mrs. Thomason enjoyed gardening, reading and crossword puzzles.
