J.H. "Jimmy" Mayfield, age 86, of Alva, departed this world Aug. 25, 2005 in Ft. Myers. He was born Apr. 6, 1919 in Mount Enterprise, TX. He was a longtime resident of Alva.
He leaves behind his loving wife of forty-two years: Reva Mayfield, daughters: Cindy Betancourt, Donna Griffis, Kathleen Padgett, Christine Walker and Judy Dana, sons: Steve Walker and Harold Walker, sister: Marcel Smith, seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Tues., August 30, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at the Alva Church of God with Rev. Ray Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Alva Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Akin-Davis Funeral Home in Ft. Myers. "To be absent in the body, is to be present with the Lord."

Betty Bedell Moss, 88, of Fort Myers formerly of Pittsburgh, PA died August 25, 2005. Wife of the late John P. Moss, Jr., Mother of John P. (Jeanne) Moss, III, Steven B. (LuAnn) Moss and the late Robert D. Moss; grandmother of Paul Moss, Ellen Chomyn, Jill Jackson, Steven Moss, Jr. and Tanya Baxter, great-grandmother of Kailey, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Justin.
Services are private at the request of the family with interment taking place in Jefferson Memorial Park, PIttsburgh, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Brentwood Presbyterian Church, 3725 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15227. Local arrangements by Kiser Funeral Home.

William "Bill" Schrot, age 85, of Bonita Springs, passed away peacefully Thursday August 25, 2005 at his home surrounded by his loving family who cared for him to the end. He was born April 20, 1920 in New York City, New York to Gustav and Elsie (Wirth) Schrot. Bill proudly served in the U S Army for 44 months from 1942 to 1945, participating in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He owned and operated Schrot's Pork Store in New York City while residing in Bronx, New York. Upon moving to Putnam Valley, New York in 1964 he and his family operated Osceola Beach in Jefferson Valley, New York before retiring in 1981. During his retirement years Bill divided his time between Union Springs, New York and Bonita Springs, Florida where he became a full time resident in 1998.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anne (Hagen) Schrot, two sons, William (wife Ellie) Schrot and Robert G. (wife Janet) Schrot, two daughters, Elizabeth Ann (husband Ralph) Schmidt and Barbara Jane (husband George) Murray, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Monday August 29, 2005 at Walter Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home at 5:00 PM with Pastor Thomas Slater officiating. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM prior to the service on Monday. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers; please make memorial donations to PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America), 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086.

John L. Scrivanich, Sr., 72, of Ft. Myers Beach died August 25, 2005, he was born in Hoboken, NJ, a son of the late John J. and Petronella J. Scrivanich. John was a veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Airforce, he was a retired police captain of Sea Bright New Jersey Police Department serving for 25 years retiring in 1988, he owned and operated a Chevron Gas Station, Continental Limousine Service. He moved to Ft. Myers in 1987 and owned and operated Aloha Airport Transportation. John served in several offices of the NJ State P.B.A., Sandy Hook Local #48 including President, he was awarded a Silver Lifetime Card, he was the vice president of Parkview Point Condo Assoc.and a member of the American Legion of Ft. Myers Beach, he enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling.
Mr. Scrivanich is survived by his wife of 38 years Shirley R., his daughter Katherine Vassallie of Long Branch, NJ, his sons Anthony Scrivanich, John L. Scrivanich, Jr., both of Cape Coral, his sister Joan Manno of Newport Richie, FL, his grandchildren Nicole and Raymond Vassallie, John L. Scrivanich, III, Jacqualyn Scrivanich.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted in the Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday at 3 PM., the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service 2-3 PM.
In his memory memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospcie 800-835-1673 or the Amercian Cancer Society 800-277-2345.
Entombment will be in Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

John A. Sweatlock, 85, of Lehigh Acres died August 25, 2005, he was born in Mt. Union, PA, and was a veteran of WW II serving aboard the U. S. Ticonderoga, he graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, he was a teacher, football, track, wrestling coach at Ramsey High School, Ramsey, NJ, he moved to Lehigh Acres from New Jersey in 1984.
Mr. Sweatlock is survived by his middle son Joseph of Jupiter, FL, his 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Mildred, his youngest son Walter and oldest son John Walter. He was beloved by those he came in contact with and will be deeply missed by them all.
A memorial funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted in Faith Lutheran Church on August 30 at 4 PM.
In his memory memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Sweatlock Fellowship Hall, debt reduction general funds or Learning Village Pre-School, 705 Leeland Heights Blvd. East, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.

He is survived by Beverly J. Wolf; stepson Ralph House, stepdaughters Rhonda Newman and Roxann House, son Jim Willis and daughter of Port Charlotte, sisters Donna Morgan of Fort Myers, Arlene Henderson of Punta Gorda and his cousin Vernon Wolf of Cape Coral.

Michael Dale Berning, 49, of Ft. Myers, passed away unexpectedly at his residence of an apparent heart attack on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2002. Michael was born October 16, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Dale Gordon and Betty (Wills) Berning, he now joins his parents. The family moved from Toledo to the Ft. Myers area in 1969. Michael was co-owner and operator of Cypress Sports, Inc. of Lehigh Acres specializing in the sale of guns. He was a member of the Southern Party of Florida and a Camp Member of the Miccosukee Reservation. Michael enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and three wheel off road vehicles. His favorite pastime was air boating. Michael was an individualist, a philosopher, an ecologist and a man of practical wisdom.
Michael is survived by the light of his life, his wife of 24 years; Sheila (Brantley) Berning; his legacy of four children; Justin Berning, Ft. Myers; Michael (Khristine) Carr, Ft. Myers; Becky (Shane) Martin, Ft. Myers; Erin (Stan) MacNevin, Lehigh Acres; seven grandchildren; one brother, Dale (Sharon) Brenner, Toledo, OH; and three sisters, Linda Hadsock, Ft. Myers; Carol Berning, Toledo, OH; and Robin (Lee) Rogers, Ft. Myers.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM TODAY at Mike's Abode In The Bush, Shawnee Road, Ft. Myers. A flotilla of airboats will scatter his ashes to the keeping of the saw grass at his hunting camp in The Everglades. May he rest in peace. Lillian Ann Hills, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Orange and Milford, CT, and Washington, NJ died Nov. 16, 2002, at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, FL. Lillian was the wife of the late Frank W. Hills; her son Clark Hills; her daughter-in-law, Jo August Hills and her grandson, Morgan and Alex Hills all of Dunstable, MA survive her. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Pulieri of Washington, NJ and her sister, Connie Lobb and her lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lobb of Punta Gorda, FL.
Memorial donations may be in Lillian's memory to Hope Hospice, Cape Coral.

Roger Dale O'Dell, 51, of Cape Coral, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL, died Thursday, November 28, 2002. He was born in Battle Creek, MI, on February 14, 1951. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his father, Rex, of Michigan Center, MI; his sister, Debra Short, Lafayette, IN; two nieces, Shannon and Heather, and a nephew, Scott; his step-daughters, Denise Whitaker and husband, Bruce, Andrea Chikosky and husband, Scott, and Shelby McHugh, all of Cape Coral, and seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Casie, Kelsea, Rhen, Rikki, Patrick and Tyler.
His friends are invited to celebrate Roger's life on Sunday, December 8, 2002, at 1:00 PM, at the Red Barn, 5300 Haines Road, St. Petersburg, FL.

Herman L. Robinson, 91, Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral, died Nov. 28, 2002. He was born November 23, 1911 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University in 1934 and later served his country proudly during WWII with the U.S. Army. Herman retired from the Indiana Lumbermans Mutual Insurance Co., in Indianapolis. He moved to Cape Coral in 1978 where he was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church. Herman will be remembered for his Wry sense of Humor, love of playing cards, and dining out with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth in 1993. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, December 5, 2002 at Gulf Coast Village at 1:30 PM with Pastor H. Timothy Halverson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by the Metz Chapel of Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Homes, Cape Coral.

Robert Koch St. Cerny, 45, a younger brother of Lee County Commissioner Douglas R. St. Cerny passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 22, 2002 in Pekin, Illinois. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 26, 2002.
Robert was born October 7, 1957, in Pekin, Illinois to James Penfield St. Cerny and Erna Roman St. Cerny.
Surviving are his wife, Tammy, one daughter, Danielle, step-son, Arthur Kovach, brother, James P. St. Cerny III and sister Gloria St. Cerny Ranney. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and uncle and brought joy with just his smile.
A Memorial Scholarship at Florida Gulf Coast University has been established in his name.
