Susan Ann Hunt
Susan Ann Hunt, 44, of Jacksonville Beach, died Feb. 1, 2003. She was a native of Jacksonville, where she resided her entire life. She was employed by Humana Insurance Co. for 15 years. She attended the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville Beach and did volunteer work for the Eastern Surfing Association.
She is survived by husband, John Hunt, son Christopher Hunt and brother William O'Ferrell.
Services were held Thursday in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Chapel, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, with the Rev. David Sheffield officiating.
Patricia K. Price
Service is Saturday
Patricia K. Price, 80, of Jacksonville, died Feb. 5, 2003 in a local hospital. Born on Nov. 23, 1922 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies of the Nile. Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith K Price.
She is survived by her son, Joel (Lynn) Carr of Jacksonville Beach; daughter Candyce (Roger) Groom of Canton, Ga.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach with Dr. Terry Collins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
Ruby I. Barnes
Service is today
Ruby I. Barnes, 75, died in her home Dec. 4, 2002. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, she attended the University of South Carolina and moved to Jacksonville Beach in the 1950s, where she was administrator of the Child Guidance Clinic for more than 18 years. She was active in fund-raising and educating the community about the services the clinic provided for youth.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, Dec. 6, at Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, 3600 S. Third St., Jacksonville Beach, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Quinn-Shalz chapel.
Stanley Edward Figulski
Stanley Edward Figulski died peacefully at birth on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Robert Christopher and Kayti Sue Figulski of Ponte Vedra Beach; paternal grandparents, Robert L. and Susanne Figulski of Cary, N.C., and maternal grandparents, Don Evans of Houston and Susan Marie Bourkney of Wisconsin.
A memorial service was held Thursday in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, with the Rev. Richard Shannonhouse officiating.
William Amos Nichols Jr.
Service is Saturday
William Amos Nichols Jr., 73, of Atlantic Beach, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Dec. 4, 2002. Born April 18, 1929 in Chattanooga, Tenn., he had been a resident of Jacksonville for the past 58 years.
He retired in 1990 as the owner of Nichols Insurance Co. on Beach Boulevard. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was a member of the choir. Other memberships include the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Morroco Shrine Temple. His first wife, Catherine Rymer Nichols, and his son Richard Nichols predeceased him.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Marian McGregor; his children, William Amos (Melanie) Nichols III of Jacksonville, Susan (Jerry) Walling of Lawrenceville, Ga., Diane (Emmett) Prevatt of Jacksonville and Jane Hammock of Jacksonville Beach; his brother, Donald G. (Betty) Nichols of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Cooper officiating. Inurnment will be in the memorial garden at Christ Episcopal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church choir fund, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, 32082.
Charles Nathan Brecher
Retired Army colonel
Charles Nathan Brecher, 84, a retired Army colonel and longtime resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, died July 14, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center-Beaches. Born in Utica, N.Y., March 26, 1918, he moved to Ponte Vedra Beach more than 30 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Irene E. Brecher; children Lynn L. Corey of Ponte Vedra Beach, Natalie Rasmussen of Redondo Beach, Calif., Carla Nuckles of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Nannette Labahn of Orlando, and eight grandchildren.

Thomas H. Jacobsen
Ponte Vedra Beach
Thomas H. Jacobsen of Ponte Vedra Beach, chairman emeritus of U.S. Bancorp, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Mercantile Bancorporation and former vice chairman of the Board of Barnett Banks, died July 20, 2002, of leukemia. He was 62.
Born Oct. 15, 1939, in Chicago, he was graduated from Wake Forest University in Chicago. He was awarded an MBA from the University of Chicago and an honorary doctorate from Lake Forest University.
After 13 years with Barnett Banks, where he directed Barnett's expansion, Mr. Jacobsen became chief executive officer of Mercantile Bancorporation in 1989, where he remained for 10 years. He became chairman of the Board after Mercantile merged with Firstar Corp. to form U.S. Bancorp, the eighth largest banking organization in the United States.
He was chairman of campaigns for United Way and the Salvation Army, was chairman of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, chairman of the St. Louis Area Council of Boy Scouts of America and trustee of Washington University.
He was president of the Federal Reserve Advisory Council, director of the Bankers Roundtable, executive board member of the National Boy Scouts, and held positions on other boards.
He is survived by his wife, Diane DeMell Jacobsen; brother Robert (Jane) Jacobsen of Evanston. Ill., and a cousin.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. July 30 at Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra Beach. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Marrow Foundation, 400 Seventh St., N.W., Suite 206, Washington, D.C., 20004, to establish a center for potential donors to join the National Registry. John Reilly King
John Reilly King, 52, died July 17, 2002. Born Oct. 17, 1949, in Neptune, N.J., he moved to Jacksonville Beach five years ago. He was a computer programmer and analyst.
He is survived by his father, Henry King, of Belmar, N.J., his 14 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Mary 'Laura" Kropf
17-year Beaches resident
Mary "Laura" Kropf, a 17-year resident of the Beaches, died July 15, 2002. She was 81. She was a retired government employee, having worked at Mayport Naval Station and Jacksonville Naval Air Station, among other naval bases. Most recently a resident of Houston, she had lived at the Beaches from 1960 to 1977. She was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
She is survived by sons Mark Kropf, Hugh (Linda) Kropf and Paul (Crystal) Kropf; daughters Laurel (Reg) Taylor and Cathy Lewis; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mary A. Lind
Mary A. Lind, 77, died July 12, 2002. Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Sewell. N.J., she moved to Jacksonville Beach five years ago. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric B. Lind, in 1999.
She is survived by her children, Mary Pat Collins of Jacksonville, Eric J. Lind of Burlington, Vt., Christine (Stephen) Tully of Ponte Vedra Beach, Carol (Adam) Ginensky of Chicago, Joan Lind of White House Station, N.J., and Anne Lind of Chicago, and grandchildren Jonathan P. and Jennifer Lind Collins, Carolyn, Patrick and Caitlin Tully and David and Katherine Ginensky.
