HUFFMAN, Helena J., 75, of Palm Harbor, died August 5, 2001. She is survived by her husband, John; three daughters, one brother, and one sister and 11 grandchildren.

JENNINGS, Rebecca Jane, 54, of Lutz passed away Monday, August 6, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Kyle Miller; father and stepmother, Milton P. and Bernice Whitmore; children, William Jennings, Robert Jennings and wife Carol, Marc Jennings and Leslie Jo Jennings; stepdaughter, Autumn Miller; grandchildren, Robby and Avery Jane Jennings; sisters, Sharon Grossenbacher and husband Bud, Cindy Canals; brother, Chip Whitmore and wife Sue; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 10, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church in New Tampa. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Dade City. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

MACKEN, John Thomas, 87, of Brandon, passed away Monday, August 6, 2001. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Macken and a son, Terrence Thomas Macken. He is survived by his son, John Patrick Macken; daughters, Sheila De Santo, Sharon Du Long and her husband, Harold; Maureen Murray, Kathleen Harris, Molly Torra and her husband, Joseph; brothers, Richard and Dan Macken; sisters, Mary Emi ly Campbell and Esther Ann Zilch; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A native of Rochester, Minn., he has resided in the Tampa area for 3 1/2 years coming from Bellaire Bluffs, Fla. Early in his career he was a funeral director with the Macken Funeral Home. Later he was an executive with Qualitone, Inc.


MACMILLAN, Warren J., 66, formerly of Okla., died August 4, 2001. He is survived by one sister, Phyllis; one aunt, Ellie; and several nieces and nephews.

MASSEY, Boyd `Uncle Bud`, 85 years old, of Zephyrhills passed away on Monday, August 6, 2001, at his residence. He is survived by a very large family and group of friends. He was a long time resident and owner/operator of Massey Barber Shop for over 50 years. Arrangement are being handled by Richey Chapel-Coleman Ferguson F.H. of Zephyrhills.

PRICE, Michael Joseph, 53, of Bradenton, formally of Tampa, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2001 in Sarasota. He is survived by his wife, Lois Price, Bradenton; sons, Todd Price, Ben Price, Greg Price, all of Tampa and Tyler Price, Bradenton; grandson, Drew Price, Tampa; parents, Joseph and Catherine Price, McSherrystown, Pa; sister, Barbara Mansfield, Ellicott City, Md; Brothers, James Price, Do wnington, Pa. and Patrick Price, Silver Spring, Md. Mr. Price was born on September 5, 1947 in Hanover, Pa. He grew up in McSherrystown, Pa., where he was an Eagle scout and graduated from Delone Catholic High School. He then went on to graduate from Villanova University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He married in 1972 and lived in West Chester, Pa. from 1973 to 1988 where he coached his sons' teams at Greater Chester Valley Soccer Association (GCVSA), West Chester Biddy Basketball and East Side Little League. He was also active in the youth Sunday school program at Daylesford Abbey, Paoli, Pa. He moved to Tampa with his family in 1988 where he lived until 1994. While in Tampa, he coached youth basketball for Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation ( HCPRD) and yo uth baseball for the Citrus Park Little League. He also served as an usher for St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Moving to Bradenton with his family in 1994, he lived there until his death. During those years, he actively supported the Southeast High School Athletic Association. He also actively supported Leto High School Girls' basketball (Tampa), where he kept the team books and assisted with video taping games. He was employed from 1969 to 1992 with the Radnor Corp. (a division of Sun Oil Company) as a Regional Development Manager of Tampa, Fla. From 1993 to 1996 he was the Vice President of Development for SMR Communities in Bradenton, Fla. From 1996 to 1999 he worked for Harbour Island, Inc. in Tampa as a Director of Developement/ Construction, and then consulted them until his death. He was most recently employed with Terrabrook of Tampa where he worked as assistant Vice President/ developement manager until his death. A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, August 10, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael Price Memorial Scholarship Fund, Member Trust Company, 950 W. Fletcher Ave. Tampa, FL 33612.

ROMEO, Nicola A., 100, of Valrico passed away Saturday, August 4, 2001. Preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Rose and his grandson, David Romeo. He is survived by his sons, Pat Romeo and his wife, Christine of Valrico, Fla., Robert Romeo and his wife, Debbie of Wallingford, Conn. and Joseph Romeo of Parker, Colo.; daughter, Dolores Cologero and her husband, Anthony of Palm Coast, Fla.; se ven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was a member of the Eagles and a member of Nativity Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Nativity Catholic Church at a later date. SENIOR, Jr., Frank E., 82, of University Village in Tampa died Sunday, August 5, 2001. Born in Chester, Pa., he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice; two sons, Kenneth and Ronald; daughter, Patricia Wolfe; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Clark. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Kenneth. He was a supervisor for 40 years at Scott Paper Compa ny. He served his country as a navigator in the 15th Air Force on 35 missions during World War II on a B-17. He was a Mason with Lodge #236 for 55 years. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001, at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 304 Druid Hills, Temple Terrace. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.

SHAW, Dr. James O., M.D., F.A.C.S., joined our Lord in Heaven on Saturday morning, August 4, after a long illness. He was a Christian Methodist Episcopal and a farmer. James is survived by his wife, Susan, of Odessa Fla.; his father, John R, Shaw, of Cape Coral, Fla.; three sisters, Nancy Polley of Cape Coral, Fla., Donna Maynard of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Janet Shaw of St. Louis, Mo. He is also s urvived by three sons, Dr. John A. Shaw of Ann Arbor, Mich., Gregory J. Shaw of Macon, Ga., and Jeffrey D. Shaw of Boston, Mass.; two daughters-in-law, Tomomi Shaw of Macon, Ga. and Roseanne B. Shaw of Boston, Mass.; and by three grandchildren, Kristen M. Shaw (age 6), Kellie N. Shaw (age 4), and James N. Shaw (age 2); as well as many nieces and nephews. James was born on November 18, 1939 in Pont iac, Mich. to John R. and Alice Shaw. James was an accomplished pianist, award winning photographer and graphic artist, model railroad collector, avid sportsman, and a commercial pilot. He loved to travel with his wife, Susan, and was an active member of the Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa, Fla. Dr. Shaw graduated with a medical doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1964. He served his int ernship and residency at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif. He served in the Navy from 1963 to 1972, as Chief of E.N.T. at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital and as Submarine Medical and Diving Officer on the USS James K. Polk SSBN 645. Dr. Shaw practiced at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wis., from 1975 to 1983, and served as chief of staff during his tenure there. Dr. Shaw practiced a t area hospitals in Macon, Ga. from 1988-1991, and was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Mercer University School of Medicine from 1990 to 1991. Dr. Shaw practiced at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Okla. from 1991 to 1999. He was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He became a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Ne ck Surgery in 1972, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1973, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1983. He is dearly loved and will be missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Inc. or to Idlewild Baptist Church Building Fund. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rt. 54, New Port Richey, Fla., ph# 727-376-7824, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to service.

SHAW, Elizabeth (Lisa) Parrot Nooe, 70, died August 5, 2001 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Shaw. Lisa was the beloved mother of sons, Keith Shaw and wife Trudy, and Stuart Shaw and wife Cathy; and seven grandchildren. Lisa was born on March 12, 1931. Lisa was vivacious and fun loving with many friends and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001 at Azleland Cemetery.

LEWIS, Raymond L., 74, of Zephyrhills, died July 31, 2001 at East Pasco Medical Center. He is survived by a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a barber at Esquire Barber Shop, and a World War II US Army veteran.

ARMSTRONG, Jos.Emmert, 81, of Brooksville passed away Friday, August 3, 2001. Survivors include his wife, Charlene; three daughters, Jorja L. Armstrong Thralls and husband Edmund of Orlando, Barbara A. Barkhurst and husband Larry of Tampa, and Jo Ellen Armstrong of Dade City; grandson, Edmund L. Thralls Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Irene Anderson of Brodhead, Wis. and Marie Arnsmeier of Monroe , Wis. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Timm and his granddaughter, Michael Kimberley Thralls. Born in Sibley, Iowa, Mr. Armstrong moved to Tampa in 1952 and then to Brooksville in 1984. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 noon at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa.

NOLAND, Charles E., Editor Emeritus, Frostproof News, of Lake Wales, Fla., formerly of Frostproof, died of kidney failure August 4, 2001 at home. He was 71. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Jean M Noland; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard E. and Carol G. Noland, Valrico; Kenneth E. and Alice B. Noland, Atlanta (Ken is a frequent visitor to the Frostproof area); son, John T. Noland, Tamp a; daughter and son-in-law, Jake and Kathryn N. Johnson, Sylvania, Ga.; grandsons, Richard Brian Noland, Valrico, Justin Joshua Johnson, Sylvania, Ga., and Samuel and John Charles Noland, Atlanta; granddaughter, Shannon L. Noland, Tampa. Born in Miami, Florida on March 11, 1930, he came to Lake Wales 11 years ago from Frostproof where he had lived since 1979 serving as Editor of the Frostproof New s. While a student at the University of Miami, where he graduated cum laude in 1951, Charlie worked for the Miami Herald as a copy boy and general assignment reporter. Upon his graduation, he joined United Press International as a staff correspondent in the Miami bureau covering news of national and international importance throughout Florida and the Caribbean. He covered the winter White House at Key West while President Eisenhower was recovering from a heart attack and President John F. Kennedy's stop in Tampa just days before his fateful trip to Dallas. He handled hurricane disaster in Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba and covered many of the early manned space shots at Cape Kennedy. In 1956, he opened UPI's Gulf Coast bureau in Tampa. His journalistic career also includes stints as business edi tor of The Tampa Times, the hosting of two television series in Miami, writing and announcing a 52-week radio news show, on-camera appearances for 20th Century Fox Movietone News and was managing editor of a sports weekly and editor of senior citizen publications in St Petersburg and Tampa. His columns have won numerous awards from the Florida Press Association in areas of humor and justice for ch ildren. While in Tampa, he also served as an account executive with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith and taught economics at a local college. A Southern Baptist, Noland served as a member on the Florida Baptist Convention's State Mission Board in Jacksonville, was a deacon, Bible Study teacher, and enjoyed singing in the Adult Choir. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof and Frostproof Rotary Club. He was also listed in the `Who's Who in U.S. Writers, Editors & Poets.` Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Frostproof followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Silver Hill Cemetery. She was the owner of a motor repair business and grocery store in Six Mile Creek. She was a Longtime member of the Areme Chapter No. 147 Order of The Eastern Star.
