GARRETT, Wortley Eugene, 88, of Zephyrhills, died Friday July 20, 2001 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. He is survived by two sons, Wortley Roy (Patricia and children, Loretta and Wortley Charles); and Walter Lee (Linda and children, Michael and Christopher), both of Crown Point, Indiana; granddaughter, Ember Garrett of Munster, Indiana; three step-daughters, Nancy Maskew of Clawson, Mich.; Claudette (Harold) Goodman of East Pointe, Mich.; and Anita Nelson of Detroit, Mich.; step-granddaughter, Nancy Forster of Clawson, Mich.; step-great-granddaughter, Alexis Forster of Clawson, Mich; and four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gaister (nee Prohl) of Hobart, Indiana; LaVerne Garrett of Fort Myers, Fla., Barbara Garrett of Converse, Indiana and Roseanne Garrett of Peru, Indiana. He was p receded in death by his first wife of 40 years: Loretta Ann Garrett; second wife of 16 years, Naomi Garrett; three younger brothers, Walter, Robert and David; and his parents, Wortley Robert and Imogene Garrett who resided in Zephyrhills; and a step-daughter, Kay Abruse. He was born in Dalbart, Tenn. in 1912 and had lived in Zephyrhills for the last 19 years. He attended Emerson High School in Gar y, Ind. During his senior year in 1929, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for eight years as an Aviation Electronics Technician on the first aircraft carrier, the USS Langley, and for 34 years in the Naval Reserves, stationed at Gienview Naval Air station in Illinois. He was a veteran of the 1930 Nicaraguan campaign, World War II, the Berlin Airlift, the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. He was emplo yed by the Civil Aeronautics Administration (FAA) in 1946 and worked for 33 years as the electronics technician in charge of all ground-air communications at Chicago's Midway, O'Hare, Mieg's and DuPage County Airports. Wortley married Loretta Prohl on April 30, 1939, and resided in Gary, Tenn., then moved to Dyer, Tenn. in 1952. He retired to Zephyrhills in 1982 and married Naomi Wininger in 1984. He was an active member of the Victory Baptist Church and the Gideons. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Victory Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oakside Cemetery. PATTON, Harriet L., 93, of Brooksville, Fla., died Saturday, July 21, 2001 at Heartland of Brooksville. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Garfolo; and sister, Mary English. Arrangements by Oakley Funeral Home.

RAFF, Rev. Jonathan F., 50, formerly of New Port Richey, died unexpectedly in Bradenton, Florida, Saturday, July 14, 2001. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Mark A. and Jean Raff of Memphis, Tennessee; several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. He was born in Ravenna, Ohio August 5, 1950 the son of S. Fredrick and Betty (Miller) Raff. Rev. Raff received his Bachelor's Degree from Kenyon College, his Master's Degree from Yale School of Divinity and continued his studies at Oxford England. Jon was affiliated with the Southeastern Archdiocese of the Episcopal Church and had served as Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in New Port Richey. He had served other positions in Cincinnati, Ohio, Tennessee and retired from Christ Church, Wayside, Maryland. Memorial services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Wayside, Maryland at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund. STUCKWISH, Max E., 61, of Lutz, died July 20, 2001. Survived by his wife, Jan; daughter, Kelly; son, David; two granddaughters, and mother- and father-in-law.

ADLER, Eugenie Felicia, 86, of Tampa, passed away July 21, 2001 after a brief illness. Mrs. Adler leaves a son, William Adler and wife, Alice of Tampa; daughter, Dr. Susan Pappas and husband, Thomas of Land O'Lakes; sister, Luci Karlones; and niece, Karen Karlonas of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrew Pappas, Alison Adler and Meredith Adler. Mrs. Adler was born in Vermont and prior to moving t o Tampa in 1979, had been a longtime resident of Mystic, Conn. In accordance to her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered at sea, there re-joining her husband of 59 years, Edward, who predeceased her. A gathering of family and friends to recall Mrs. Adler's life will take place Wednesday, July 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Since her arrival in Tampa, Mrs. Adler had been an active member of the Life Enrichment Senior Center, 9704 N. GUTCHER, John, age 63, passed away July 19, 2001. John is survived by his wife, Clarissa `Ditto`; three sisters, Muriel Price, Geneva DeLaurier and Viola Berger all from Pembroke Ontario; six children, Kim Holmes and Mark Gutcher of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; Tammy and (Roger) Pierce of Middleburg, Fla.; Allan and (Carol) Gutcher of Tampa, Fla.; Michael and (Jennifer) Steele of Halstead, Kan.; a nd David Gutcher of Tampa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Gutcher was born in Pembroke, Ontario and moved to Tampa in 1976. Mr. Gutcher was owner of Gutcher's Quickprint in south Tampa and a world-renowned artist. John's talent took him all over the United States and Canada to paint and teach, several of his pieces now hang in private collections. His unique design and decorativ e pieces have won national awards and have been published in Artists of Florida, Paintworks, Paintworks Special Christmas Issue, Paintworks Holiday Angels, Let's Paint, Painting Decorative Artists Workbook and The Decorative Painter. He has also appeared on PBS television and has eight videos with Perfect Pallette. Mr. Gutcher was a member of Tampa Realistic Artists, Florida Society of Decorative Artists, Society of Decorative Painters, Ambassador for Royal Brush and a lector at Christ the King Catholic Church His family will receive friends Sunday, July 22 from 3:00- 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 3:00 p.m., Marsicano Funeral Home, 4040 Henderson Blvd. Tampa. HILDRETH, Oren Keith, 76, passed away July 20, 2001. He is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Malcolm and Mary Ethel Grimmer Hildreth. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sara Hildreth; two sons, Michael Keith Hildreth and his wife, Rhonda of Plant City and Bruce Clark Hildreth of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Mona Sue Hildreth Carey and her husband, Jack of Plant City; two brot hers, Malcolm Forrest Hildreth of Plant City and Howard Mercer Hildreth of Longwood, Florida; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hildreth graduated from Plant City High School-class of 1943 and was the owner and operator of O.K Amoco Service for 25 years before retiring. He was a life member of the East Hilisborough Historical Society, a member of the R.B. Plant Model Railroad Histo rical Society, and docent at the Plant City Depot Visitors Center.Mr. Hildreth served his country during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard, seeing duty in the South Pacific, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. McCLANAHAN, Rebecca Miller, 86, went to be with her savior Friday, July 20, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Russell M. Miller, and her second husband, Arlie McClanahan of whom she was engaged to fifty years earlier; and three sons, Bob, Buddy, and Woody Miller. WARNER, Marjorie H., age 82, died July 19, 2001 at the Brooksville Hospice Center. Surviving her are her husband, William G. Warner of Ridge Manor; one daughter, Linda Wheeler of Topsham, Maine; two sons, Willie A. Warner of Gorham, Maine, and David K. Warner of Ormond Beach, Fla.; 8 grandchildren; two great-grand-daughters. Born in Haverbill, Mass., she was a daughter of Arthur T. and Ethel I. Langley Colcord. She was educated in Massachusetts and New Hampshire schools and also attended a beauty cultureschool in Boston. Mrs. Warner was a homemaker who had also worked in food services for the lpswich, Mass. public schools, the Crane Estate, also in lpswich. She had also been an insurance clerk for UNUM in Portland, ME. She had live here the past seven years having formerly lived in Ipsw ich Scarborough, and Limerick, Me. She was a member of All Faiths United Church of Christ and its Ladies Guild, A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at All Faiths United Church of Christ, 34006 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor, FL. Rev. Charles J. Sheffield will officiate. Additional services and interment in Maine will be announced by the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham, Maine.

ANKER, Patricia, 79, of Tampa, died July 20, 2001. Survived by two sons, tow daughters, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

ARVAY, John, born June 22, 1913 in Napkor, Hungary. Immigrated to Cleveland, OH circa 1914 and moved to Plant City, FL circa 1920. Served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945: Veteran of World War II battles in North Africa, in Italy including Salerno and Anzio, and in Western Europe including the Battle of the Bulge, and post war occupation of Germany. After the war, married Jennie Thomas, and rai sed three sons, Robert, John and William. He is also survived by a brother two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Having become widowed after 53 years of marriage, John married Genevieve Urban in March 2000. In his youth, John was a farmer's son who became fascinated with the then newfangled contraptions called radios, designing and building his own from scrap parts. John also built two o f his last three houses by his own hands, and was one of those men who never called a repairman for anything. Whether it was carpentry, electrical, masonry, automotive or plumbing, John could always get it working again. He was a good father, a devoted husband, and a loyal citizen. No one will replace him. A mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Catholic Church of the Incarnation.
