CECIL WHEELER, 77, of Auburndale died Monday at Lake Alfred Health Care Center. A native of Madison County, he moved from Lakeland to Auburndale in 1933. He was a retired driver for Gray Truck Lines in Lake Alfred, a member of First Baptist Church of Auburndale and U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He is survived by two sisters, Annie Woodard and Kathleen Cannon, both of Auburndale. Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale.

JOHN E. ALEXANDER, 70, of Holiday died Tuesday at Columbia New Port Richey Hospital. A native of Linton, Ind., he moved to this area 23 years ago from Pontiac, Mich. He was a retired stock room supervisor for JCPenney Co., Lutheran, a Marine veteran of the Korean conflict, member of American Legion Post 173 in Holiday, the Marine Corps League Holiday Detachment in New Port Richey, and past American Legion commander in Auburn Heights, Mich. He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann; three sons, Larry B. of Waterford, Mich., Frederick R. of Metamora, Mich., John W. of New Port Richey; a daughter, Cheryl A. Mariani of New Port Richey; a brother, William C. of Holiday; four sisters, Eileen Anderson, Patricia Felix and Lela Fay Davis all of New Port Richey, and Pearl Pirtle of Linton; and 11 grandchildren. LEE R. BASS, 67, of Land O' Lakes, died Monday. A native of Rocky Mount, N.C., he moved to this area 33 years ago from Columbia, S.C. He was a former co-owner of fast-food restaurants in Columbia, and retired owner of Bass Construction in Tampa. He was a past president of the Tampa Homebuilder's Association. He is survived by three sons, Lee Roy Jr. of Panacea, Troy M. of Zephyrhills, and Kenneth of Tampa; two daughters, Angela Hughey of Jasper, Ga., and Patsy Maner of Newbern, N.C.; a stepson, Stephen Bailey of Brooksville; his mother, Della of Columbia; four brothers, Edward R. of Columbia, Ray C. of Lutz, Marvin I. of Laurens, S.C., and Eugene of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Peggy Young of Columbia; six grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. SYBIL C. DELOGES, 78, of Holiday died Wednesday at Columbia New Port Richey Hospital. A native of Dunbar, Ky., she moved to this area 37 years ago from Henderson, Ky. She was Baptist. She is survived by three sons, Bobby Taylor and Tony Deloges both of Tarpon Springs, and Larry of Holiday; a daughter, Gaye Harkin Crowley of Texas; three brothers, Rance Baxter of Henderson, Syril of Louisville, Ky., and Leamon of Cairo, Ky.; a sister, Hazel Hogan of Hudson; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. CHARLES R. GRINER, 69, of Lutz died Tuesday. A native of Valdosta, Ga., he was a longtime resident of the area. He was a master auto mechanic for Jerry Ulm Dodge, an Air Force veteran of World War II and member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife, Joe Anne F.; two daughters, Belinda Storch of Fayetteville, N.C. and Judy Prince of Tampa; a brother, Melvin Albert of Zephyrhills; a sister, Virginia Lord of Tampa; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. EDMUND HOLMES HAMMOND, 86, of Port Richey died Monday at North Bay Medical Center in New Port Richey. A native of Everett, Mass., he moved to this area 23 years ago from Goffstown, N.H. He was a retired New Hampshire Bank Examiner in Concord, N.H., member of First United Methodist Church of New Port Richey, many civic organizations, and a Mason. He is survived by his wife, Elsie M.; two sons, Leonard E. of Manchester, N.H., and Richard A. of Seabrook, N.H.; a daughter, Gladney Kemp of Plano, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandsons. ANDREW "Bill" HRYWNAK Sr., 63, of New Port Richey died Tuesday at home. A native of Saginaw, Mich., he moved to this area 25 years ago from Houghton Lake, Mich. He was an electrician, and Methodist. HENRY F. LOWE, 79, of Zephyrhills died Monday at East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. He moved to this area 21 years ago from his native Brooks, Maine. He was a retired manager in the banking and agriculture industries, a member of First Congregational Church, the Marsh River Masonic Lodge and Countryview Golf Course all in Brooks, Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, Maine, Nimrod Civic Organization, and Waldo County Shrine Club both in Belfast, Maine, charter member of the Links at Bernadette and life member of the Royal Nairobi Golf Course in Nairobi, Kenya. He is survived by his wife, Iris A.; a son, Albert "Skip" of Brooks; two daughters, Sharon Eldridge of Brooks, and Barrie Fernald of Troy, Maine; two sisters, Mary Parker and Shirley Roberts both of Brooks; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. GLORIA MARKS, 67, of Port Richey died Tuesday at home. A native of New York City, she moved to this area 16 years ago from Merrick, N.Y. EDGAR HAROLD PERKINS, 84, of New Port Richey died Tuesday at Hospice of Pasco. A native of Albany, Ky., he moved to this area 14 years ago from Atlanta. JOHN R. POTRAFKA, 78, of St. Petersburg died Monday at Integrated Health Services of Tarpon Springs. A native of Decatur, Ill., he moved to this area in 1977 from Koeltztown, Mo. He was an executive vice president of a hospital equipment company and a member of the Masons and Shriners. He is survived by a son, Ross M. of New Port Richey; a brother, Richard of Denver; two sisters, Catherine Horn of Decatur and Annabelle of Cocoa; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter. VINCENT SALVAGNO, 76, of Port Richey died Monday at home. A native of Philadelphia, he moved to this area 20 years ago from Deer Park, N.Y. He was a retired produce manager, a Navy veteran of World War II, and member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hudson. He is survived by his wife, Celia; a son, Vincent C. of Port Richey; a daughter, Palma Parnofiello of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; a brother, Daniel of Miami; two sisters, Claire Bellon of Woodhaven, N.Y., and Julie Soricelli of Bergenfield, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. MAXINE E. YOUKEY, a retired banker and the wife of a longtime Lakeland city manager, died Tuesday at her Lakeland home. She was 70. Her son, Alan Wells, said she became ill in July and was diagnosed with cancer in September. Youkey formerly served as manager of the Lake Miriam Square branch of Florida Federal Savings & Loan Association. Youkey's husband, Robert, 75, retired in 1986 after 26 years as city manager. The theater at the Lakeland Center was named in his honor because of his tenure and his support of the center, formerly called Lakeland Civic Center, which opened in 1974. A native of Beckley, W.Va., she moved to this area from Philadelphia 35 years ago. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Circle 14. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Sandra Wells Griffith and Tawn Prior Walls, and two sons, Alan and Scott Wells, all of Lakeland; a stepdaughter, Marti Hawkins of Chestertown, Md.; a stepson, William, of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Irene Blevins of Great Falls, Va.; a brother, Leslie Edwards of Canton, Ohio; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 tonight at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland. Service is at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church followed by burial at Oak Hill Burial Park.

SUSIE MORRIS ANDREWS, 32, of Lake Wales died Friday at Lake Wales Medical Centers Inc. A native of Augusta, Ga., she lived in Polk County most of her life and worked at a factory in Dundee. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and National Guard Reserve. She is survived by a daughter, Latasha, and sister and brother, Cassie Wilson and Gene Morris, all of Lake Wales. BILLY BUCHAN, 61, of Haines City died Tuesday at Winter Haven Hospital. A native of Coffee County, Ga., he moved to this area in 1958 from Georgia. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator for K. Meadows Construction Co. in Lakeland and attended Haines City Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois; a son, Kenny of Davenport; a daughter, Kathy Buchan Murray, and two sisters, Oletta Cliette and Minnie Lee Cliette, all of Haines City; a brother, Tennel of Lakeland; and two grandchildren. CLARA GILL, 69, of Brandon died Tuesday. A native of Mango, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and Baptist. STEVEN L. GREEN, 34, of Lakeland died Tuesday at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of injuries sustained in an accident in September. A native of Indianapolis, he moved to this area in 1994 from Kenner, La., and worked as a server for Eastside Village McDonald's Restaurant. He was Protestant. COREY JEROME HINES, 10, of Lake Wales died Oct. 31 at home of accidental injuries. A Miami native, he came to Polk County from Dade County nine years ago. He was a fourth-grade student at Spook Hill Elementary School and member of Full Deliverance Church of Jesus. CLIFTON O'NEAL NICHOLES, 56, of Lakeland died Sunday at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Ga. He moved to this area from his native Worth County, Ga., 35 years ago and worked as a heavy-equipment operator. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa and Carla, and a sister, Theaster N. MILDRED L. SCOTT, 92, of Lake Wales died Tuesday at Lake Wales Medical Centers Inc. Extended-Care Facility. A native of LaDue, Mo., she came to this area from Tennessee in 1957. She was a retired teacher for the state of Colorado, a founder and past president of Lake Wales PEO Sisterhood and also served as president of Kansas League of Women Voters. She was a member of First Christian Church of Lake Wales and Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by many nephews and nieces, including Ralph Shy of Gulfport. He is survived by two sons, Robert of Atlanta and Donald of Lakeland; two daughters, Betty Rice and Susan Smith, both of Plant City; two brothers, Floyd and Lee Roy, both of Plant City; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
