WALTER J. "JERRY" BROWN, 53, of Tarpon Springs died Monday at Mease Hospital Countryside in Safety Harbor. A native of Louisville, Ky., he moved to this area in 1986 from Buffalo, N.Y. He was a freelance writer and a veteran of the Navy. He is survived by two daughters, Heather Giacalone and Holly, both of Palm Harbor; his father, Walter I. of Louisville; two sisters, Pat Brown and Denise Gore, both of Louisville; and a granddaughter. National Cremation Society, Holiday.

PAUL EDWARD CARTER, 79, of Largo died Tuesday at home. He moved to this area in 1957 from his native Cawood, Ky. He was a principal at Cawood Elementary for 16 years, and in Pinellas County, he served as principal at Seminole Elementary and Pinellas Park Elementary for 15 years n. He was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association and First Christian Church in Largo. He is survived by his wife, Blanche; three sons, Paul Edward Jr. and John M., both of Largo, and Joseph B. of Orange Park; a brother, Lawrence of Vero Beach; four sisters, Nancy Lay of Barserville, Ky., Nell Stickley of Jonesville, Va., Ruth Hubbard of Cawood and Lydia Chason of Oldsmar; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. MICHAEL CHESSNOE, 76, of Clearwater died Wednesday at home. A native of Pittsburgh, he moved to this area in 1995 from Plantation. He was Russian Orthodox, an Army veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War,d retiring as a colonel. He is survived by a son, John Michael of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Elizabeth Thurman of Clearwater and Mary Victoria Begault of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. CHARLES COUSIN, 68, of Riverview died Tuesday at Vencor Hospital. A native of Salisbury, Mo., he moved to this area 37 years ago from Kansas. He was a printer and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by a son, Mike of St. Petersburg; a daughter, Penny E. of Riverview; a brother, Warren of Missouri; and two grandchildren. HAROLD E. DAY, 87, of Sun City Center died Monday at Columbia South Bay Hospital. A native of Toledo, Ohio, he moved to this area in 1990 from Newark, Ohio. He was an engineer technician for the State of Ohio, a veteran of the Navy and a member of First Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Ruskin. He is survived by his wife, Janice M. MABEL ANN DOUGLAS, 79, of Dunedin died Monday at Mease Hospital Dunedin. A native of Chicago, she moved to this area in 1978 from Western Springs, Ill. She was a secretary for a savings and loan company in Illinois and a member of Clearwater Country Club. She is survived by a son, John of Bartlett, Ill.; a daughter, Judy Rhein of Whitelake, Mich.; a sister, Evelyn Stehno of Countryside, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. FRANCIS J. FLAHERTY, 49, of Clearwater died Monday at home. He moved to this area in 1979 from his native Louisville, Ky. He was employed by Home Shopping Network, formerlys employed in production control at Honeywell in Largo, a veteran of the Vietnam War), a member of Apex Club at Honeywell and attended Light of Christ Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Dale F.; a son, David C. of Clearwater; two daughters, Lori F. and Stephanie D., both of Clearwater; his mother, Ursala M. of Louisville; three brothers, Randall, James and Kenneth, all of Louisville; and three sisters, Rose Marie Abel, Tisharn O'Flaherty and Diane, all of Louisville. JOHN S. FORSTER JR., 68, of Largo died Tuesday at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. He moved to this area in 1954 from his native Pittsburgh. CLARA GILL, 69, of Brandon died Tuesday. A native of Mango, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and Baptist. MORAN ARCHIE PEACOCK, 88, of Tampa died Tuesday at home while under the care of Hospice of Hillsborough. A native of Bowling Green, he moved to this area in 1957 from St. Petersburg. He was a retired union carpenter, member of Carpenter's Local Union 140 and New Covenant Church of God. He is survived by a son, John R. Morrison of Tampa; four brothers, Horace G. of St. Petersburg, Carl D. of Las Vegas, C. JOHN R. POTRAFKA, 78, of St. Petersburg died Monday at Integrated Health Services of Tarpon Springs. A native of Decatur, Ill., he moved to this area in 1977 from Koeltztown, Mo. JAMES GORDON ROBERTS, 87, of Belleair died Monday at Springhouse in Dunedin. A native of Lincoln, Neb., he moved to this area in 1966 from Omaha, Neb. He was a former president of Roberts Dairy in Omaha and did research work for the Veterans Administration. He was a member of President Eisenhower's White House Conference on Physical Fitness and St. Michael's All Angels Anglican Church in St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife, Dolly Anderson; two daughters, Diane Roberts Kerr of Crandon, Wis., and Sheila Roberts Rinderspecker of Germany; two stepdaughters, Fraser Anderson Gianaras and Lucy Anderson Roy); four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild. MICHAEL EUGENE SPENCER, 41, of Clearwater dieds Tuesday in Summerville, S.C. A native of Owensboro, Ky., he moved to this area in 1967 from Cincinnati. LEE R. BASS, 67, of Land O' Lakes, died Monday. A native of Rocky Mount, N.C., he moved to this area 33 years ago from Columbia, S.C. He was a former co-owner of A & W Root Beer Drive-ins and Cedrick's Fish and Chips in Columbia, and retired owner of Bass Construction in Tampa. He was a past president of the Tampa Homebuilder's Association.
