WILLIAM LEE BROWN
Mr. William Lee Brown, 74, of 1234 Oak Ave., Panama City, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1981, coming here from Kingsville, Mo. and was Church of Christ by faith. Mr. Brown served his country in the U. S. Navy and U. S. Air Force during World War II and was also an electronic technician for Western Electric. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Brown of Panama City; son, Barry Neal Brown and his wife Carla of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; stepdaughter, Jennifer Zahnd and her husband Martin of Killen, Ala.; a brother, Joe Thomas and his wife Martha of Pegram, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his son, Billy Brown. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jack Reece officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories with military honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Greg Swindle, Gerald McCalister, M. C. Pippin, Dan Dick, Willard Anderson, Jim Holsombake, Bruce Breegle, Hal Burleson and Todd Thompson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

SAMUEL A. BUCKNER
Mr. Samuel A. Buckner, 92, of 3406 Hwy. 390, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1941 and was a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mr. Buckner is survived by his wife, Clella Buckner of Panama City; a son, Jerry Buckner and his wife Brenda of Crystal River; a daughter, Dorothy Vickers and her husband John of Lynn Haven, Fla.; a sister, Jewel Shine of Atlanta; sister-in-law, Mrs. James Buckner of Panama City; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends: Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Malcolm of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Scott Tyman officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Ronald Buckner, Thomas Buckner, Jimmy Buckner, Keith Buckner, Steve Harless and Wayne Vickers. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today from 6 to 9 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1905 W. 11th St., Panama City, FL 32401.

ELBERT M. DAVIS
Mr. Elbert M. Davis, 79, of Wewahitchka, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at his home. A native of Elberton Ga., he was reared in Fitzgerald, Ga., and lived in Wewahitchka the past 14 years. He was a member of VFW Post 8285, Al Menah Temple, Queen City Lodge 0761, and the Grand Council Cryptic Masons. Mr. Davis was retired from the U.S. Army as a sergeant, and proudly served his country in the liberation of Europe during World War II under Gen. Patton. He also participated in several major battles including the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors include his wife, Martha; five daughters and two sons: Donna Johnson and husband Robert, Richard Davis and wife Lillie, Teresa Casteneda, Carol Porter and husband Steve, Mary Milton and husband Curtis, Leslie Hynson and husband Darrell, and Bobby Joe Shields; 12 grandchildren: Jamie, Timmy, Angie, Michael, Daniel, Brandon, Christy, Holly, Crystal, Stephanie, Jeremy and Jordan; and three great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Taylor and Brook. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Buckhorn Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Carlton Cain. Interment will follow with military honors. He will lie in state Tuesday at Comforter Funeral Home, Wewahitchka Branch Chapel, from 6 to 9 p.m.

MRS. VERNA E. GILL
Mrs. Verna E. Gill, 71, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in a local hospital. She moved here in 1991 from Houston, Texas, and was a Catholic by faith. Mrs. Gill is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mr. Arthur Gill; daughter, Arleen Curry; son, Gary Gill and daughter-in-law Kyong Gill; grandchildren, Matthew Gill, Lisa Curry, Kevin Curry, Steven Curry and wife Angie; great-grandson, Benjamin Curry; sisters, Loris Abshire and Betty Hebert; sister-in-law, Beatrice Moates. Mrs. Gill is preceded in death by her mother, Newoley Schexnider; father, Arcade Trahan; grandson, Gary Gill Jr.; and brother-in-law, Stanley Hebert. Funeral service for Mrs. Gill will be conducted today, Sept. 28, in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Father David O'Shea will officiate.

Mr. Samuel E. Heisler, age 82, of 19618 Hwy. 231, Fountain, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at his home. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, 1999 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military Honors. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999 from 6 to 8 p.m.

LYNN OWEN JOHNSON
Lynn Owen Johnson of Panama City went to be with his mother and father in the presence of the Lord Monday, Sept. 27 in his home, 4011 LeeAnn Drive. Lynn was born to Malcer and Emma Gene in Rockford, Ill. He began his career in anesthesia as a Corpman in the U.S. Navy. His profession led him to many cities throughout the United States. He found his home in Panama City where he has resided for the past 13 years. He retired from Bay Medical Center where he held the position of Lead Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist as well as Clinical Coordinator for the Gooding Institute of Nurse Anesthesia. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Johnson of Panama City; one son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Holly Johnson of Henderson, Nev.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Corrine Detrick and granddaughter, Emma-Lynn of Panama City; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Leslie Bitterman and grand-daughter, Kylee Jo of Callaway; one brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Beverly Johnson of Mesa, Ariz. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today, Sept 29 at Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Taylor officiating. Honorary pallbearers are: Joe Detrick, Dave Ely, John Gooding, Stan Hicks, Red Holland, Steve Kinsey, Brian Kradel, and Brad Woods. The family will receive friends at their home following the service. Lynn wished donations to be made to the Gooding Institute of Nurse Anesthesia at Bay Medical Center in lieu of flowers.

RICHARD STEPHEN MCNABB
Richard Stephen McNabb, 69, of Boston and Panama City Beach, Fla., died Friday at his home in Wayland, Mass., after a lengthy illness. Mr. McNabb was a thoroughbred horse trainer, purchasing agent and jazz devotee. Born in Boston, he attended Mission High School, Boston Latin and a graduate of Commerce High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. McNabb at the age of 21, was the youngest trainer of throughbred horses in New England and Canada. During the 1950's and 1960's he journied the race track circuit throughout the Northeast and Florida. In the 1970's he was chief trainer of two year olds at Del Ray Training Center for race track horses in Florida. In the 1980's, he was merchandise-shipping manager for the Jack Nicklaus Enterprises in the Southeast area. Until 1998, he was food and beverage director and purchasing agent at Bay Point Resort and Country Club in Panama City Beach. He is the husband of Joanne (Perry); brother of the late Betty McGonagle; son of Stephen "Casey" McNabb. He is survived by his mother, Bernice of Wayland, Mass.; nieces: Heather and Jessica of Wayland, Mass., Susan (Beran) of San Rafael, Calif., Jennifer (Pickett) of Natick, Mass., Paula of New York City and nephew, Stephen of Framingham, Mass. Interment will be held at Palm Beach Memorial Gardens in Lantana, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Metro West Hospice, 85 Lincoln St., Framingham, Mass. 01701.

Mrs. Ethel Agnes Kelley Smith, 91, of 1424 W. 11th Street, Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, in a local nursing home. Born in Holt, Fla., she moved here in 1946 from Crestview, Fla. She retired from Lisenby Hospital where she was registered nurse. She was also a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Smith and her parents Arthur Noah Kelly and Agnes Cutts Kelley. She is survived by one son, Gene A. Kelley of Panama City; two sisters: Velma Stricklin of Crestview, Fla. and Eunice Hoffman of Corvella, Ore.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed. Britain officiatin. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Old Holt Cemetery, Holt, Fla. with the Rev. John Spivey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Jane Sullivan, 68, died Sep. 26, 1999, in Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Sullivan was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Panama City, Fla. She was an analyst for the Department of the Defense, a member of the Moose Lodge and Methodist by faith. Survivors include her husband, John L. Sullivan Jr.; son, Robert S. (Sherrill) Sullivan of Covington, Ga.; daughters: Kelly Sullivan of Marietta, Brenda Griffin of Pensacola; and two grandchildren. Graveside service will be held today Sept. 29 at Stockbridge City Cemetery.

Mrs. Myrtice Louise Tindell Bozeman, 52, of Youngstown, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 in a local hospital. Born in Port St. Joe, she was a lifetime resident of Florida. She was a homemaker and a member of Springfield Community Church. Mrs. Bozeman is preceded in death by her father, Robert D. Tindell. She is survived by her husband, Arthur A. Bozeman of Youngstown; her mother, Mirtie Tindell of Youngstown; two sons, Arthur A. "Andy" Bozeman II and wife Carol of Panama City, Robert Mark Bozeman and wife Leslie of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Roger D. Tindell and wife Patsy of Youngstown, Ronnie A. Tindell and wife Judy of Bayou George; two grandsons, Daniel and Drew Bozeman; one granddaughter, Anjolene Bozeman and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct.1, at 11 a.m. in Springfield Community Church with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Lt. Howard Peoples Jr., David Garner, Chief John Sword, Sgt. David Barnes and Tony Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be all employees of Washington County Correctional Institution. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
