MACIE LEE HARTZOG MASHBURN
Mrs. Macie Lee Hartzog Mashburn, 84, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at her home. Born in Coffee Springs, Ala., she was a lifelong resident of Panama City. She was a childcare worker at Hiland Park Baptist Church and retired after 32 years, as well as being a member of the church. Mrs. Mashburn is preceded in death by her husband, Barney Mashburn and a son, Barney Hilton. She is survived by three sons: Richard M. Mashburn and wife Sandy of LaPlace, La., C. Michael Mashburn of Atlanta, Ga., Carl L. Mashburn of wife Judy of Panama City; one daughter, Patricia "Pat" Joiner and husband Wayne and a special daughter, Barbara Fuson Adams and husband Billy all of Panama City; daughter-in-law, Ann Mashburn of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; two sisters: Ocie Bell of Valpariso, Fla., and Doris Avery and husband Kermit of Panama City; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. in Hiland Park Baptist with the Rev. Don Pickerill and the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

DAVID ERIC McGEACHY
David Eric McGeachy, 28, of Tallahassee, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999. He was a lifelong member of Tallahassee, employed with Cornerstone of North Florida as a cable subcontractor and a member of Faith Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, David and Marilyn McGeachy of Tallahassee; paternal grandmother, Reo McGeachy of Chipley; maternal grandmother, Arrie Marshall of Clarksville; two sisters: Sabrina Counts and Emily McGeachy of Tallahassee; three nieces: Lauren Counts, Amber and Peyton Stark, all of Tallahassee. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. EDT in Faith Baptist Church of Tallahassee. Interment will follow in Poplar Head Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarksville. Visitation will be held today, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at Beggs Funeral Home Apalachee Parkway Chapel.

MONICA B. OLVERA
Mrs. Monica B. Olvera, age 67, 1808 Clay Ave., Panama City, Fla., died on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at her residence. She had been a resident of the area since 1956 coming here from the Philippines. Mrs. Olvera was a homemaker and enjoyed doll making and doll dressing. She is survived by her nephew, Benedick B. Benedicto of Alexandria, Va. Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. today, Oct. 6 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. William Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 6, 1999, from 4 to 5 p.m., an hour prior to service time.

EILEEN M. OWENS
Eileen M. Owens, 42, of 2607 Ferol Lane, Lynn Haven, daughter of Colonel (USAF-RET) and Mrs. Robert Gregor, died Monday evening, Oct. 4, 1999, of injuries sustained in a car accident. She was employed by Buffalo Rock and had formerly lived at Scott AFB, Ill., Tyndall AFB, Fla., Washington D.C., Albrook AFB, CZ, and Colorado Springs, Colo. before settling in the Panama City area in 1972. She is also survived by a sister; Ann Fleming and her husband, David, of Brussels, Belgium; niece, Katherine B. Fleming; grandmother, Mary M. Davenport of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a aunt, Elizabeth Copeland and her husband, Dick of Connecticut. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Ramsey officiating. Mrs. Mary S. Rankin, age 79, of 8011 Front Beach Road, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at her residence. She was a retired secretary for Dr. John Sweet and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Rankin is survived by her sons: David L. Rankin and his wife Freda of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Ed Rankin and his wife Donna of Panama City, Fla.; daughters: Margaret Bolton and her husband Wayne of Jefferson, Texas, and Mary Jo Heider and her husband Jeff of Denver, Colo.; sisters: Josephine Ortiz and her husband Nestor of Boca Raton, Fla. and Eloise Linn of Hayward, Calif.; a brother, Kemp Scott of Homer, Alaska; and seven grandchildren: Adam Wilson, Alicia Rankin, Scott Rankin, Brian Rankin, Darbi Bolton, Garth Bolton, and Lindsey Heider. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Lions Foundation, P.O. Mr. Fredrick Bartow Taylor, age 92, of Wausau, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Gulf Coast Convalescent Center, Panama City, Fla. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Wausau. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith with membership at Hard Labor Creek Baptist. Funeral services will be today, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Lee Walsingham and the Rev. Carlos Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Gap Pond Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Leola Taylor; three sons: Alto, Tony and Fred Taylor. Survivors are: Jim Taylor of Adell, Ga.; daughter, Helen Pettis of Panama City; sisters: Martha Odom of Wausa, Vinnie Hicks of Wausau; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. David Carlton Brogdon Sr., age 67, of 5209 E. 9th Street, Panama City died on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1941, coming here from Marianna. He worked as an Insulator for Arizona Chemical Company and was protestant by faith. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Brogdon of Panama City; daughters: Debra Nielens and her husband Harold of Callaway, Wanda Odom and her husband Bobby of Callaway, Glenda Brown and her husband James of Callaway, Tammy Davis and her husband Curtis of Youngstown, Daphne Verge and her husband Baron of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sons: David Brogdon Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Callaway, Michael Brogdon and his wife Samantha of St. Andrews; sisters: Edelle Cloud of Marianna, Virginia Warrell of Colorado Springs, Colo., a brother J.T. Brogdon of Pace; nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a former son-in-law, Roy A. McSwiney. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debra Suzanne McSwiney; a brother, Junior Brogdon; a sister, Estelle Fowler and his parents, Walter and Louise Brogdon. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Claude McGill officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Creek Cemetery in Calhoun County. Active pallbearers are: Rory McSwiney, Richard McSwiney, Billy Brown, Bruce Brogdon, Jim Sansom, and Billy Thomas. IRENE RUTH DARNA
Irene Ruth Darna, 61, of Highland View, passed away Wednesday morning at her home following a brief illness. Born in Miami, she lived most of her life in Marathon and the Florida Keys before coming here 20 years ago. She worked as a cook at local restaurants including Linda's Restaurant, and most recently, Henderson's Restaurant. Survivors include her children: Barbara Nunnery of Wewahitchka, Marvin Darna of Oriental, N.C., Debra Gay of Highland View, Macheri Slaton of Cleveland, Ga., Fonda Chehardy of Highland View, Jean Hinote of Howard Creek and Tina Shearer of St. Joe Beach; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Patsy Wilson of Gulfport, Miss. and Faye Culmer of Highland View; two brothers: Gene Culmer of Marathon and Bobby Culmer of Orlando; and a special friend, Gladys Bass. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. EST Friday at the graveside in Roberts Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. David Nicols. Interment will follow. She will lie in state at Comforter Funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 7.

Master Sgt. David Mandl, age 40, of 109 Christie Lane, Callaway, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 as the result of an vehicular accident. He had been a resident of the area since 1993 coming here from Fort Walton. and was Catholic by faith. Msgt. Mandl served his country for 19 years in the U. S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Marissa Mandl of Callaway, Fla.; two daughters: Diezavel and Marielou Mandl, both of Callaway, Fla.; brothers: John Mandl and his wife Patty of Fairfield, Ohio, and Mark Mandl and his wife Carmen of Westminster, Md.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Abelardo and Yolanda Bognot of the Philippines; a niece, Heidi Mandl of Westminster, Md.; nephew, Robert Compton of Callaway; brother-in-law, Rodney Compton and his wife Angelita of Callaway; and close friends, Charlie and Betty Weeks of Panama City. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Fr. Peter L. Zalewski officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base.

Barbara A. Miller, 83, of New York City, N.Y. died Tuesday, October 5, 1999. She is survived by six children: Priscilla Lovett of Southport, Roni Antennucci of Rochester, N.Y., David Miller of Syracuse, N.Y., Cynthia McCroy of New York City, Phyllis Hendrick of Long Island and Jackie Miller of Philadelphia, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is predeceased by one son, Evan Miller. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, New York City, with sister Lorretta Carey conducting the eulogy.
