Mrs. Mary S. Rankin, age 79, of 8011 Front Beach Rd., Panama City Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at her residence. She was a retired secretary for Dr. John Sweet and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Rankin is survived by her sons: David L. Rankin and his wife Freda of Palm Harbor and Ed Rankin and his wife Donna of Panama City; daughters: Margaret Bolton and her husband Wayne of Jefferson, Texas and Mary Jo Heider and her husband Jeff of Denver, Colo.; sisters: Josephine Ortiz and her husband Nestor of Boca Raton, Fla. and Eloise Linn of Hayward, Calif.; a brother, Kemp Scott of Homer, Alaska; and seven grandchildren: Adam Wilson, Alicia Rankin, Scott Rankin, Brian Rankin, Darbi Bolton, Garth Bolton, and Lindsey Heider. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Mutter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Lions Foundation, P.O. BOX 165, Interlachen, FL 32148, Attention: Lee Woods.

ANDREW SCUDERI JR.
Mr. Andrew Scuderi Jr., age 43, of 6001 N. Hwy. 231, Panama City, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at his home. He had been a resident of the area for eight years, coming here from Jackson, Tenn. and was Catholic by faith. Mr. Scuderi is survived by two sisters: Phyllis Valdez and her husband Joel of Henderson, Tenn. and Suzanne Malone of Jackson, Tenn.; nephews: Jimmy Fullington of Jackson, Tenn., Joey Valdez, Nicholas Valdez, and Erin Michael Valdez, all of Henderson, Tenn.; and numerous friends including: Mark and Karen Douglas, Joey Harley, and Tracie Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Margie Maitland Scuderi Sr. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, for immediate family and friends at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson, Tenn.

JENELLE SWITZER
Ms. Jenelle Switzer, age 54, of 4105 Luff St., Panama City Beach, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999 as the result of an industrial accident. She had been a resident of the area for 25 years, coming here from Missouri. Ms. Switzer worked for Smurfit-Stone Container Company and was the Shop Steward of the Mill Support Dept. She was also the treasurer of Sunbird Condominiums for the Executive Board. She is survived by a daughter, Vanessa Serio and her husband Scott of Jefferson City, Mo.; her son, Scott Pogue of Panama City Beach; mother, Leila Ellis of Stockton, Mo.; father, Evert Switzer and his wife Barbara of Sunny Hills; a sister, Carol Allgaier of Kansas City, Mo.; and brothers: Randall Switzer of Joplin, Mo. and Charles Switzer of St. Paul, Minn. Ms. Switzer was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Pogue. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Council on Aging, 1116 Frankford Ave., Panama City, FL 32401, Childrens Home Society, 303 Magnolia Ave., Panama City, FL 32401, or to the American Heart Association, P.O. SAM WEAVER
Deacon Sam Weaver, 83, of 144 Harlem Ave. died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999 in a local NursingCenter. He was a native of Troy Ala. and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was a 33rd degree mason and a member of West Star Lodge No. 102 Arcadia, Fla. He was a faithful member of Second Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed. He is survived by two granddaughters: Karen Gwens (Harry) and Lucinda Thomas, both of Orange County; three nephews: Harold Jones (Wila Dean) of Oakland, Calif., Eddie Jones (Shirley) of San Jose, Calif., and Robert Jones (Blondell) of Panama City; two devoted nieces: Luella Jackson of Panama City and Patricia GuiIford (Clifford) of Modesto, Calif.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Weaver will be held Friday Oct. 8, 1999 at 1 p.m. in Second Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Rogers, Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 144 Harlem Ave.

PASCO BELL SR.
Mr. Pasco Bell Sr., 79, of 1401 N. Palo Alto Ave. died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his home. He was a native of Jackson County. Early in life the decedent accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Buckhorn Missionary Baptist. In 1957, he moved to Panama City where he joined St. John Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the Rev. L.P. Davis, and he remained a member until his demise. In earlier and more productive years, he was faithful in rendering service in his church and his community. However, later years of ill health rendered him incapable of giving the service of his more active years. During his youthful years, he spent much of his time working with youth in his neighborhood, organizing and managing a baseball team and working with them in other sports. During his lifetime, he was employed at Graham's Air Force Base in Marianna, and for thirty years he worked at Nelson Buick Company in Panama City. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Robert Bell of Tampa, Pasco Bell Jr., and his wife, Linda of Panama City, and Edgar Rudolph Bell of Miami; a daughter, Mrs. Neta Bell Scruggs and her husband, Leonard of Miami; a brother, Louis Williams and his wife, Bernice of Panama City; three sisters: Mrs. Alberta Barksdale and her husband, Bennie of Jacksonville, Mrs. Pearlie Garrett of Marianna, and Mrs. Susie Harvey of Tallahassee; one aunt, Mrs. Alberta Dixon of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother-in-law, George Wynn Jr. of Tampa; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Redding of Tampa; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special friends, Charlie Brown and Casple Turner. Funeral services for Mr. Bell will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. in St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Rory L. Bedford, Pastor and Bishop S.J. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery in Jackson County. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home at 1 p.m. today. A family hour will be held this evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. EILEEN M. OWENS
Eileen M. Owens, 42, of 2607 Ferol Lane, Lynn Haven, daughter of Colonel (USAF-Ret.) and Mrs. Robert Gregor, died Monday evening, October 4, 1999, of injuries sustained in a car accident. She was employed by Buffalo Rock and had formerly lived at Scott AFB, Ill., Tyndall AFB, Washington DC, Albrook AFB, CZ, and Colorado Springs, Colo., before settling in the Panama City area in 1972. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Colonel David L. and Ann Fleming of Brussels, Belgium; niece, Katherine B. Fleming of Orlando; grandmother, Mary M. Davenport of Tallahassee; and a aunt, Elizabeth Copeland and her husband, Dick of Cheshire, Conn.; three cousins: Jimmy Copeland and his wife, Bonnie and their children, of Cheshire, Donna Giacini and her husband Mark and their children of Hobe Sound, Christy Tomko and her husband Jack and their children of Cheshire. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 9, 1999, at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Those desiring to may make a contribution to your favorite charity in memory of Eileen M. Owens.

Mr. Thomas Potter, 82, of Ebro, Fla., died Oct. 2, 1999, in a local hospital. He was a native of Washington County, a deacon of Mt. Calavery Baptist Church of Vernon and a veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McQueens Temple Church in Ebro, with Bishop Richard Jenkins Sr. officiating. Interment will be in St. Luke Memorial Garden Cemetery in Vernon with Cooper Funeral Home directing. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Potter of Ebro; two sons: Harold Roche (Easter) and James Roche (Marian) of Flint, Mich.; a brother, Joseph Potter; sisters: Rosia Edwards and Corine Peterson of Ebro.

HAZEL WANITA MARTY YOCANO SPARKS
Mrs. Hazel Wanita Marty Yocano Sparks, 78, of Panama City, Fla. died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1999, in a local hospital. Born in Parkersburg, W. Va., she was a longtime resident of this area. She was a waitress at Martin's Five Point Restaurant, a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and the Bay County Council on Aging. Mrs. Sparks is preceded in death by her mother, Laura Mond and a brother, Gene Mond. She is survived by two brothers: Kenneth Marty of California and David Mond and wife Judy of Homasassa Springs; four sisters: Bunnie Thompson, Mary C. Johnson, Ellen Arnold and Lorretta Williams and husband Jay all of Panama City; two nieces: Sandra Winklemann and Susan Gantt; three nephews: Carmen Williams, Robert Johnson and Frankie Ozark. She is also survived by her loving little dog "Queenie". Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marshall Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.

Mrs. Vada June Kelley, age 73, of 1109 Arthur Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1961, coming here from Kalamazoo, Mich. Mrs. Kelley was a retired lunchroom manager at Mowat Middle School and was Lutheran by faith. She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Grover F. Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter: Deborah Chapman and her husband Jim of Las Vega, Nev.; two sons: Dannis Kelley of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Kenneth Kelley and his wife Pam of Panama City, Fla.; sisters: Maxine Fahrer and her husband Johnny of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Ruby Neilson of Walterloo, Iowa, and Jeanette Mahlsted and her husband Weadell of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren: Jason Kelley and his wife Amy, Micah Tharp, Jennifer Tharp, Heath Kelley, Jeremy Kelley, Krystal Kelley, and Dakota Kelley; and a great-granddaughter: Olivia Kelley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Jerry Gainer, Dennis Kelley, Jason Kelley, Jim Redmond, Steve Carter, and Kevin Jermyn.
