GRANT C. WILLIAMS
Mr. Grant C. Williams, 71, of 600 East 13th St. died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was a native of Lowndes County, Ala. He united with Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church on Sept. 3, 1999, under the pastorship of the Rev. W.R. Walker. He attended the public schools of Bay County and was a graduate of Rosenwald High School. He served as corporal in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After his military tenure, he continued his education at Bethune-Cookman College, Daytona Beach, Fla., where he was a member of Bethune-Cookman College Wildcats football squad. He retired from Tyndall AFB after 30 years as a chef. Grant was joined in holy matrimony to the late Lillian Knight and to this union one son was born. He leaves a legacy of cherished memories with a faithful and devoted son, Grant Andre' Williams (Linda) of Panama City; a devoted cousin, Dudley Foster (Ann) of Panama City; a loving and caring mother-in-law, Mrs. Elmira King of Panama City; two sisters: Mrs. Clara Wood (Willie) and Rosa Gordon of Panama City; two brothers: Thomas Henry Williams (Laverne) of Maitland and Abraham Gordon (Gloria) of Eatonville; one uncle, Mr. Cephus Foster of Collirene, Ala.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Henry Knight (Gwendolyn) of Fort Lauderdale; a myriad of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special friends: Grant Mahone, Motez Robinson Jr., Cee Roulhac, Bernice Carey, Vera Shamplain, and Ida Mae Orum. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. in Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Peterson, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home today from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vada June Kelley, 73, of 1109 Arthur Ave., Panama City, Fla., who passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at a local hospital will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Carter officiating, with interment following at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Mr. Jerry Gainer, Mr. Dennis Kelley, Mr. Jason Kelley, Mr. Jim Redmond, Mr. Steve Carter and Mr. Kevin Jermyn. Honorary pallbearers will include: Mr. Rocky Carter, Mr. George Gainer and Mr. John Lenhart.

Matthew Henry Brown, infant son of Stephen and Dawn Brown, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in a local hospital. In addition to his parents, he is survived by: brothers and sisters: Dylan, Malayna and Tuesday Brown; his grandparents, Jimmy and Jessie Pope, and Mary Brown; his great grandparents, Eldon and Agnes Haddock, Ellis and Imogene Cone, and Audrey Vincent; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Graveside funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Bayou George Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Bayou George. Family and friends are welcome.

MELVIN JONES
Melvin Jones, 51, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Oct. 5, 1999. Mr. Jones was born in Panama City, Fla., and later moved to Pensacola, where he continued to enjoy fishing, plants and singing the praises of God. At any early age, Melvin accepted Christ and became a member of Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church in Panama City, Fla. He also sang with the "Moment of Truth" Community Choir. He attended school in Bay County, but later moved to Pensacola, where he became a member of Gateway Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Juanita Jones, and a son, Le'Andre B. Jones. He is survived by his father, Nathaniel Jones of Panama City; a son, Rhakeem De'Andre Jones, daughters, Christy and Olivia Cox, Pensacola, Fla.; sisters: Sandra McQueen, Pensacola, Fla., Marvelle Heyward (Claude), Panama City, Fla., Rhonda Jones (Wayne), Newark, N.J.; aunts Gladys Williams (Joseph) Panama City, Fla., Pearseder Barker (the Rev. V.V. Jr.) deceased; uncles, Mitchell Carrell (Ollie), Jamaica, N.Y.; nieces, Kharla Cogdell, Tallahassee, Fla., Shereana, Katrice and Delonaga Jones, all of Hinesville, Ga.; nephews: Corey D. Jones (Katrina), Korea, Brandon Heyward, Panama City; cousins: Sharon Williams, Sherri Johnson, Lamihya Manuel, all of Miami, Fla., V.V. NANCY JOY NICHOLS
Nancy Joy Nichols died unexpectedly in her home in Panama City, Fla., Oct. 7, 1999. She had been a resident of Panama City for 30 years. Nancy was born in Hyde Park, Vt., Oct. 30, 1943, the daughter of Wayne and the late Doris Frost Small of Oakland, Maine. She is survived by her husband John R. Nichols Jr.; two brothers, Dale Small of Kittery, Maine and David Small of Augusta, Maine; a nephew, Lucas Small and a niece, Susanna Small, both of Kittery, Maine. Nancy graduated as a diploma nurse from Eastern Maine Medical Center in 1966. She received an associate's degree from Gulf Coast Community College in 1975 and a bachelor's degree in health education from the University of West Florida in 1978. In August 1971, she was employed at the Bay County Health Department as a clinic nurse. She served as a public health nurse in 1978, a public health nurse 2 in 1981, a Senior Community Health Nurse in 1988 and in 1995 became a nursing program specialist where upon she was instrumental in the development of the HIV program and clinic. She was a member of the Florida Public Health Association, The Florida Nurses Association, Tupelo Bee Keepers Association and the Panhandle A's Antique Car Club where she was serving as treasurer. Nancy will be remembered for her love of family and friends, for her sense of humor and for her willingness to always lend a helping hand. She especially enjoyed the children in her work at the clinic. Memorial services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Saint Andrew United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Britton officiating. VIRGINIA MARIE 'HONEY' TIMMERMAN
Mrs. Virginia Marie "Honey" Timmerman, 80, of 6630 Olokee St., Panama City, Fla., passed Friday, Oct. 8,1999, at a local hospital. Mrs. Timmerman has been a resident of Bay County for two years coming here from Tilton, Ill. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville, Ill. Mrs. Timmerman is survived by: her husband of 54 years, Mr. Joseph "Tiny Tim" Timmerman of Panama City, Fla.; daughters, Mrs. Virginia "Ginger" Ward and husband Tim of Callaway, Fla., Mrs. Becky Collom and husband Charles of Georgetown, Ill., and Mrs. Dolores "Dode" Greene of Danville, Ill.; a son, Mr. Anthony "Tony" Timmerman and wife Sandy of Covington, Ind.; sisters, Mrs. Cecila Byjork of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Claire Cox of Arcola, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Mr. Chris Ward, Mr. Justin Collom, Mr. Bradley Collom and Mrs. Brian Greene. PAMELA GOFF CHURCHWELL
Services for Pamela Goff Churchwell, 29, 1605 Rhode Island, Lynn Haven, Fla., will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Amboy Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mrs. Churchwell died Saturday at Tift General Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in Turner County, Ga., and had resided in Lynn Haven, Fla., for the last five years. She was the daughter of David A. and Lunelle Lamb Goff of Ashburn. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Panama City, Fla., and was a physical therapist assistant at Panama City HealthPlex. She was a former member of the Amboy Baptist Church and a 1988 graduate of Turner County High School. She attended ABAC and was a graduate of Valdosta State University and the Thomasville Technical School. Survivors include her husband, Mark E. Churchwell, Lynn Haven, Fla.; parents, David and Lunelle Goff, Ashburn, Ga.; a son, Kyle Hunter Churchwell, Lynn Haven, Fla.; and a sister, Tammy G. Newborn, Ashburn, Ga. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Perry Funeral Chapel.

MR. DAVID PRESCOT CLARK JR.
Mr. David Prescot Clark Jr., 81, of Dothan, Ala., and formerly of Panama City, Fla., died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 1999, after a short illness. Mr. Clark was born on Nov. 10, 1917, in the Big Creek Community near Rehobeth, Ala. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Clark began working at an early age for the Bay Line Railroad in Panama City, Fla. He held many different positions with the railroad. Upon his retirement, he was the traffic manager in charge of sales. Mr. Clark was very active in the community and civic affairs. He served as the past president of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce, member of the board of directors of the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Mr. Clark was also a member of the Panama City Rotary Club. He was committed to his community and helped to stimulate interest in transportation and its importance to the growth of the Panama City area. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Big Creek Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Whatley and the Rev. Earl Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Creek Church cemetery with Ward-Wilson Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. All other times they will be at their residence on Denton Road in Dothan, Ala. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Big Creek Cemetery Fund. Mr. Clark is survived by: his wife, Gracie Clark of Dothan, Ala.; niece, Elouise Arnold of Dothan, Ala., and several other extended family members. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Oliver, Mickey Watkins, Raymond Box, Vincent Arnold, Clark Loftin and Jimmy Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be John Gartner, Garland Crabtree, Doyle Kirkland and Earl Golden.

Jewell Frith, 77, of 1220 Ohio Ave., Lynn Haven, Fla., died at home, Oct. 10, 1999, after an extended illness. Mrs. Frith had been a resident of Lynn Haven since 1943 coming from Cottonwood, Ala. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a member of the Lynn Haven Assembly of God and White Shrine of Lynn Haven. Mrs. Frith is survived by: her loving husband of 58 years, Frazier Frith of Lynn Haven; two daughters, Joan McLeod and husband Billy of Chipley, Fla., and Dianne Wirth and husband Steve of Lynn Haven, Fla., two sons, Wendell Frith of Lynn Haven, and Greg Frith and wife Sharon of Lynn Haven; niece, Jean Woodham of Panama City; eight loving grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Leaz and the Rev. James Segars officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Oct. 11.

Funeral services for Mrs. Florine M. Grigg, 85, of Panama City, will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Springfield First Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
