Mrs. Delilah Katherine Clements, 81, of 9006 N. Holland Road, Southport, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since March 1998, coming here from Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. Clements was employed by Illinois Bell as a telephone clerk. She was also a member of the Disciples of Christ, the C.W.A., Eastern Star, and she loved to fish and bird watch. Mrs. Clements is survived by her daughters, Susan Strobel and her husband Chris of Southport and Margaret Swanson and her husband Denny of Urbana, Ill.; sisters: Billie Canada of Lodoga, Ind., Lydia Carter of Bloomington, Ill., and Joan Crandall of Sullivan, Ill.; grandchildren: Alan Strobel and his wife Mary of Southport, David Swanson and his wife Mikki of Tolono, Ill., and Delinda DeDe and Mark Swanson, both of Urbana; and great-grandsons: Brett Alan Papajohn, Dalton Swanson and Jarrod Swanson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Judy Steed, Cheryl Johnson and Dr. Peter Leger. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Kingswood Baptist Church of Deerpoint Lake with the Rev. Don Hodges and the Rev. Joel Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to F.O.P. Lodge No. 130-C.O.P.S. Fund.

Powell Ernest "Peanut" Dalton, 80, of Vernon, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 3, 1999, after an extended illness. A Vernon High School alumni, Class of 1937, he also attended the University of Florida for two years and was an U.S. Air Force veteran. A lifelong resident of the area, "Ernie" worked many occupations in support of his family including, drug store owner/operator, insurance salesman, window dresser, newspaper carrier and retired in 1982 as a draftsman with the Florida Department of Transportation. "P.E." was a member of Vernon United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Vernon Lions Club, a VHS Booster Club member, a 55-year standing member of the Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 164, a Vernon city councilman, as well as an enthusiastic volunteer trainer at the Washington County Canning Center in Vernon as frequently as his health permitted. Loved by all who knew him for his sweet temperament, loving ways and wise guidance, Ernest will be sorely missed by his faithful wife of 55 years Paula Simmons Dalton; three daughters: Rhonda Dickinson and husband Lou of Melbourne, Fla., Virginia Dalton of Vernon and Patsy Herring and husband Donald of Vernon; a son, Paul Dalton and wife Diane of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a sister, Helen D. May of Vernon; three grandchildren: Amanda Dalton, Michael Dalton and wife Michele and Geri Ellen DiGeorgia and husband Steve; two stepgrandchildren, LuAnn and Sandra Dickinson; five great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Jessica Whitwright, Destin Dalton and Matthew and Joshua DiGeorgia; two daughters adopted through love, Yvonne P. White and husband Larry of Dunedin, Fla., and their children Lari Cannon and husband Chuck, Torne and Natasha White and their grandchildren, M'Kenzy and Jaxon; and Martha "Marnie" Soderberg and husband Dave of Vernon and their children and grandchildren; three nephews; four nieces; numerous in-laws, cousins and friends beyond measure. Friends and relatives may call on the Dalton family at Peel Funeral Home in Vernon today from 3 to 5 p.m. A private family internment will be held at Vernon Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Vernon United Methodist Church on Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Cobb officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vernon United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Dalton

Mrs. Martha Mae Hutton, 78, passed away in Crescent City, Calif., on Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999. She was born in Silver Creek, Mich., on Jan. 14, 1921. She had been a resident of Del Norte County, Calif., for three years moving there from Panama City. She was a previous member of Callaway Methodist Church and was a substitute teacher for a number of years in Panama City. Martha helped her husband Harry with his construction business after he retired from the Air Force. Mrs. Hutton traveled and lived in Germany, Japan, Arizona, Kansas, Georgia, Florida, Alaska and California. She always enjoyed her fishing trips to Alaska with Harry. She was a loving and devoted wife. Her other hobbies included sewing and reading. Mrs. Hutton was preceded in death by her husband Harry Hutton who passed away Aug. 26, 1994. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Lynne Sullens of Crescent City; a son Robert Lawrence Hutton of Carrollton, Texas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services for Ralph Raymond Porter Sr., of Panama City, who passed away on Dec. 2, 1999, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton and the Rev. Al Rowell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Jerry Klinger, Jack Creel, Dayton Red Strickland, Bill Newman, David Hawkins and Timothy Trappe. Olive Lesh Smith died on Nov. 28, 1999, after a brief illness brought on by a heart condition. She was born in Huntington, Ind., on July 18, 1912, to Cora and Eben Lesh. She graduated from Huntington High School and attended Indiana University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Olive was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church. On March 23, 1934, she married Maurice F. Smith. They moved from Huntington to Panama City, Fla., in 1970, and she became office manager for Dr. Stephen M. Smith and Dr. Stephen G. Smith until her death. Maurice, her husband of 50 years, preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1984. Subsequently she married Mr. Harold S. Bailey of Huntington who survives her. Other survivors include a sister Berniece Riseborough of Huntington; three children: Delene Anne Regan of Huntington, Dr. Stephen M. Smith of Panama City and Robert H. Smith of Huntington; and Harold Bailey's two children, Barbara Hancher of Huntington and Frederick C. Bailey of Fort Wayne, Ind. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Olive was preceded in death by two sisters, Mamie Warren and Beatrice Smith; and two brothers, Joseph H. Lesh and George Lesh. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. David Anderegg was held on Dec. 1, at Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel and interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Panama City. The poem, Names That Are Written in Gold, authored by Olive's father, Eben Lesh in 1923 for the 80th anniversary of the founding of First Presbyterian Church in Huntington, was read as part of her memorial service. Pallbearers were grandsons Dr. Stephen G. Smith, Scott D. Smith, Stanton M. Smith, Dr. John S. Regan, Michael J. Regan, David P. Regan, Stephen D. Regan, Stanton M. Regan, Dr. Matthew H. Smith, Nathan A. Smith and Andrew N. Smith. The family's heartfelt thanks are extended to the many friends who shared in the memorial service and whose comfort and support was provided these past several days.

Mr. Charles L. Smith Jr., 33, of 121 Hunter Circle, Port St. Joe, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, in a Panama City hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Port St. Joe, Fla., was a storeroom clerk for the Florida Coast Paper Co., and member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church of Port St. Joe. Mr. Smith is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. and Linda Fay Smith Sr. of Port St. Joe; a brother, Mr. John Wayne Smith of Port St. Joe; a stepbrother, Mr. Charles Steffes of Jacksonville, Fla.; a special nephew, Zachary Smith of Dothan, Ala.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 6, at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church of Port St. Joe with the Rev. David Fernandez officiating. Internment will follow at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe. The family will receive friends at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church from noon to 2 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 6. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church benevolent fund.

Mrs. Betty Carole (Platte) Warr, 56, of 317 W. 34th St., Panama City, died Friday at a local hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Warr had been a resident of Panama City since 1974, except for a four-year period while living in Mobile, Ala., until her husband's retirement from Sears in 1993. Mrs. Warr was a native of Fort Walton Beach and worked for the city of Fort Walton Beach and the Florida Division of HRS here in Panama City for many years. Mrs. Warr was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a faithful Christian example to all that knew her. Mrs. Warr was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Mrs. Warr is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jimmy G. Warr Sr.; one son, Jimmy G. Warr Jr.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Marie Warr; one grandson, Jimmy G. Warr III; mother-in-law, Ida Kate Warr; and brother-in-law, Arnett B. Warr. Mrs. Warr was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas W. Hale and Mary L. (Broxson) Hale and grandparents Joseph Broxson and Katie (Buck) Broxson all of Fort Walton Beach. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Mr. Bob Davis, Mr. Chrin Werle, Mr. Doug Brock, Mr. Bennett Sawyer, Mr. Wade Armstrong and Mr. Dan Blue. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Dec. 5. Betty Caswell Hartzog, 68, died on Dec. 3, 1999, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was born in Panama City, Fla., on March 2, 1931, and graduated from Bay County High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in education at Auburn University and a master's degree in English literature from Nova University. She taught English at both Melbourne and Satellite High Schools and gifted studies in Brevard County. She retired in 1997 to provide care for her ailing husband, Grady, until his hospitalization in April of 1999. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Grady Hartzog Jr., who died Sept. 27, 1999. She is survived by her children: Glenda Johnston, Becky Hartzog, Grady ("Butch") R. Hartzog III; son-in-law William P. ("Skip") Johnston; daughter-in-law Kay Hartzog; grandchildren: Paul, Lydia and Hannah Johnston, Grady (Roan) IV and Lindsey Hartzog. Her loving and giving spirit was an inspiration to everyone who knew her; she will not be forgotten. A graveside memorial service will be held for Betty and Grady Jr. in Auburn, Ala., on Dec. 11, 1999, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Samford Avenue at 11 a.m. A service of remembrance will be held in Melbourne, Fla., Dec. 18 at Unity Church of Melbourne, 1745 Trimble Road at 11 a.m. All friends and family are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32257.

Master Kaylon Shane Raffield of Panama City passed away Friday morning. He was born in Panama City to the parents of Erik and Kristi Raffield, Mastor Kaylon is predeceased by great-grandfathers Maxie Raffield and Rudy Creech; great great-grandmother Beatrice King. Master Kaylon is survived by one sister Erika Spring Raffield; maternal grandparents Walter and Teresa Counts of Virginia; great-grandparents Roger and Marilyn Whelton of Panama City; great great-grandfather Frank King of Panama City; paternal grandparents, Duaine Raffield and Lynn Oliver, both of Panama City; great-grandmothers, Ludie Broom and Betty Raffield; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Springfield Community Church with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. The family will be staying at 3140 E. 8th St. in Panama City.
