DOROTHY LUVERNE HURSTON
Dorothy Luverne Hurston, 81, of 305 Mercedes Ave., Panama City, died Dec. 9, 1999, in her home. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for Grace Presbyterian Church. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1945. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two sons, Carl David Hurston of Panama City and Steve Hurston and his wife Jia Newcombe of London, England; daughter, Regina Ann Milsaps and her husband Ken of Lakewood, Ohio; three grandchildren: Charles Milsaps, Beverly Milsaps Torrence and her husband Timothy and Robert Newcombe; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Torrence and David Torrence. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Grace Presbyterian Church with Dr. Hal Jensen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 p.m. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Grace Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund for new hymnals, 1415 Airport Road, Panama City, FL, 32405, in memory of Dorothy Luverne Hurston.

MRS. JEAN SMET LEONHARDT
Mrs. Jean Smet Leonhardt, 83, of 1400 Beck Ave., Lot 13, Panama City, passed away on Dec. 11, 1999, at a local nursing home. She moved here in 1992 and lived with her son Jerry Smet. At her request no services will be held locally. She will be interred next to her late husband Justin Smet in Calvary Cemetery in Fond Du Lac, Wis.

DELPHINE I. TENDA
Ms. Delphine I. Tenda, 62, of Panama City died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in a local hospital. Born in West Virginia, she had been a longtime resident of Panama City and retired from Bay Medical Center as a registered nurse. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Tenda. Ms. Tenda is survived by her mother Hazel Sanchez of Panama City; two daughters, Geniece McPeak and husband John of Panama City and Theresa Hadaway and husband David of Bayou George; and four grandchildren: Matthew McPeak and Michael McPeak, both of Panama City, and David Hadaway and Caley Hadaway, both of Bayou George. Funeral service for Ms. Tenda will be Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel.

MR. and MRS. CARROLL C. and MELBA J. WILLIAMS
Mr. and Mrs. Carroll C. and Melba J. Williams, married for 43 years, died together on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999. Carroll and Melba had been residents of Bay County since 1973, moving here from Colorado Springs, Colo., after Carroll's retirement from the Air Force. They had spent their retirement years together as entrepreneurs involved in many different businesses in the area including a restaurant, a motel and a taxi company. Melba was a smart businesswoman, a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She attended Auburn University. Carroll was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 26 years during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam eras. He always had a joke to tell but always taught his sons to be men of integrity. Carroll and Melba were members of Central Baptist Church. Together they are survived by sons, Greg Williams and his wife Tammy of Parker, and Bruce Williams and his wife Lisa of Lynn Haven; and grandchildren: Corinne Williams, Chelsey Williams, Nathan Williams, Christopher Hobden, Matthew Hobden and Ashley Meyers. Carroll is also survived by brothers, Hubert Williams and his wife Edna of Marianna, Fla., and Charles Williams and his wife Barbara of Bradenton; sisters, Myrl Moody and her husband David of Springfield, and Marie Burgess and her husband Jack of Norfolk, Va. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Florida Ethel Williams. Melba is survived by brothers, Charles Shipp and his wife Barbara of Atlanta, Ga., and Calvin Shipp and his wife Geraldine of Roanoke, Ala.; and a sister Allene Bennett and her husband Cary also of Roanoke, Ala. She is preceded in death by her parents William Thomas 'Tan' and Jessie Horton Shipp. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard White officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors accorded by Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Troy Campbell, Mike Mettille, Jimmy Lee, Dave Smith, Ron Smith, Shorty Stavenaw, Nathan Williams, Matthew Hobden and Chris Hobden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Dec. 12.

RUBY MAE DAY ALLEN
Mrs. Ruby Mae Day Allen, 87, died in Jackson Hospital in Marianna on Dec. 11, 1999, at 12:28 p.m. She was preceded in death by her late husband Jesse O. Allen. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Jessie and Oscar Olive of Marianna, and Mary and Keith Larkin of Sacramento, Calif.; a son: Derral Allen and wife Merie Dawn of Panama City Beach. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Allen was a native of Jackson County and a member of Marvin Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and a resident of Panama City for 48 years. Family will receive friends at Southerland Funeral Home today, Dec. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Dec. 14 at Southerland Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. led by the Rev. Ryan McDougald with interment at Kent Forest Memory of Gardens. She was a partner in Allen's Seafood restaurant which her late husband began in the early 70s. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marvin Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Marianna.

MRS. JEWELL E. DILLON
Mrs. Jewell E. Dillon, age 90, of 1916 Arthur Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Dillon had been a resident of this area since 1957, coming here from Wichita, Kan. Mrs. Dillon was of the Mormon faith. In earlier years, Mrs. Dillon was a state bowling champion in Kansas and Oklahoma. She really enjoyed people and loved her family. Mrs. Dillon is survived by a son: Robert Dillon and wife Karen of Panama City; two daughters: Margie Logan of Marianna, Fla., Lodi Bell Miers of Jacksonville, Ore.; a sister: Lodi Mae Donohue of Crystal River, Fla.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A graveside service for Mrs. Dillon will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Ed Winters officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 8 p.m. today, Dec. 13, 1999.

NOEL R. 'ABE' DUMOND JR.
Mr. Noel R. "Abe" Dumond Jr., age 72, of 2201 W. 21st St., Panama City, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, in a local hospital. Mr. Dumond had been a resident of the area for the past 35 years, coming from Sanford, Fla. He had served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after 24 years of service. He was protestant by faith. Mr. Dumond is survived by his wife of 45 years: Betty Dumond of Panama City, Fla., one sister: Val Horvath and her husband Alex of Perry, Ohio; two sisters-in-law: Ann Young and Carrie Lou Tillman, both of Semmes, Ala.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Dumond were on Sunday on Dec. 12 in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Jimmy Campbell Snaidman, age 49, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Gulf Coast Hospital, Panama City, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Chipley, Fla. A private funeral service will be held at graveside today, Dec. 13 in the Glenwood Cemetery. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery Chipley, Fla., with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Survivors include: father, W. C. Mrs. Helen L. Staten, 86, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Staten is survived by three sons: Bill D. Staten and wife Shirley of Branson, Mo., Robert J. Staten and wife Kay of Scope-Us, Mo., Wayne E. Staten and wife Carol J. of Panama City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
