JAMES WINFRED DYKES
Mr. James Winfred Dykes, "JW," age 70, of 502 New York Ave., Lynn Haven, died Saturday, Dec. 18 at a local hospital as a result of an extended illness. He was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Texasville, Ala. He resided in Lynn Haven since 1947. Mr. Dykes was a member of Lynn Haven First Baptist Church. Mr. Dykes retired from Chevron USA in 1986, after 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Allagash during World War II, he was a past master of Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 314. He was a member of the 1st Lynn Haven Volunteer Fire Department, and served on the Lynn Haven Board of Adjustments for over 20 years. He was a devoted husband and loving father. Mr. Dykes is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn Dutton Dykes; loving parents, Jewel and Roy Gilford of Southport; three sons and daughter-in-laws: Mike and Kathy, Rodney and Mickie, Stephen and Julie; six grandsons: Paul, David, Daniel, Matthew and Logan Dykes, Jason Walsingham; two great-grandchildren: Ashley and Adam Dykes and their mother Maria Dykes; two aunts, Juanita Ross, Annabelle Threat and uncle Wade Davis; three sisters: Bernice Powell, Annie Kate Faircloth, Sandy Metcalf, and two brothers, Dean and Darrell Dykes, all of Barber County, Ala. Active pallbearers will be: Paul Dykes, David Dykes, Daniel Dykes, Matthew Dykes, Jason Walsingham and Kevin Dutton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Neal and Peggy Reed, Betty and Carl Bozeman, J.G. and Pat Mercer, Bill and Carol Gray, Vaston and Mary Mathis, Tommy and Ruby Atherton, Merriel and Kenneth Kirkland, Mrs. Lorene Weldon, Mrs. Juanita Langford, Lera Cooley, Sammie Vanhorn, Bobby Dutton, Charles Dutton, Jimmy Dutton, Janie and Lester Maples, Rev. Burney Enzor and Janelle Enzor, Jimmy Kirkland, Dr. Ortega, Dr. Cvitkovich, Dr. Dent, Dr. Tran, Dr. Nichols, Dr. Sweetser, Dr. Fernando Malamud, Voncile Buffaloe, Bonnie Elkins, Judy Steed, All Former and current Chevron USA Employees, Members of Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 314, and the employees and friends of Rodney Dykes Construction and Arizona Chemical Company. Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Hodges and the Rev. David Halstead officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Cemetery with Masonic Rites at the graveside conducted by Harry Jackson Lodge No. 314. The Lodge will open Tuesday at 1 p.m. Those desiring to may make a donation to the First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven Memorial Fund in memory of Mr. James Dykes.

KENNETH C. ELLERTON
Mr. Kenneth C. Ellerton, 81, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999 at his home. Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., he moved here 51/2 years ago. He retired from AAA of Michigan as a claims adjustor and was a veteran of World War II in the Signal Corp. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post No. 827, the Masonic Lodge in Kalamazoo, Elks Lodge No. 1711 of Otsego, Mich., Fleet Reserve No. 346 and AMVETS Post No. 47 of Panama City Beach. Mr. Ellerton is preceded in death by three children: Patricia Anne Ellerton in 1977, Linda Anderson in 1984 and Michael Ellerton in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Maggie" Ellerton of Panama City Beach; four grandchildren: Randy Lee Brink of Jacksonville, John Brink of Bangor, Maine, Kari Daniels of Battle Creek, Mich., and Sean Anderson of Kalamazoo, Mich; four great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Harold and Helen WeiserHammond, Ed and Elsie DePew, Bonnie DePew; two nephews, Rick and Gary DePew. Memorialization will be by cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation in memory of Mr. Ellerton.

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Lindsey, age 77, of 24 Harrison Avenue passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Weaver officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Love at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Jimmy M. Smith, 57, of Panama City, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away Dec. 16, 1999. Funeral services will be held in Tuscaloosa at Big Hurricane Cemetery, 2 p.m., on Dec. 23.

WILLIAM SMITH
Mr. William Smith, 78, of 6206 Pridgen St., died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held today, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. in Greater Bethel AME Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of his son Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Claretta Smith at 853 E. 12th Court.

Funeral services for Mr. Chester B. Stalnaker, 79, of Panama City, will be held today at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Parker with the Rev. Craig Hartzog officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories with military honors accorded at graveside. The deacons of First Baptist of Parker will serve as pallbearers.

RODNEY B. YOUNG JR.
Mr. Rodney B. Young Jr., age 69, of 705 E. Beach Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at his residence. He was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio for 45 years and had moved to Florida 24 years ago. He was a retired salesman in the furniture and real estate industry. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the masons, the Friends of St. Andrews, and was a volunteer of the Adult Literacy Program at the Panama City Library. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and was Presbyterian by faith. He is survived by his wife of 46 years: June Young of Panama City, Fla.; daughter, Lisbeth Klotz and her husband Robert, of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons: Dr. Rodney Burt Young III and his wife Rebecca of Charleston, S.C., Lt. Col. Bradford P. Young and his wife Lori of Valparaiso, Fla.; a sister, Sally Young of Panama City, Fla. and three grandchildren. A private memorial service and scattering of the cremains will be held in St. Andrews Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of N.W. Florida, 2001 N Palafox St., Pensacola, FL. 32501-2144.

JOSEPH McCAGEOR BEALL
Mr. Joseph McCageor Beall, age 89, of 312 Wahoo Road, in Bay Point at Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away quietly at his home Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999. Mr. Beall was born Feb. 18, 1910 in Brantley, Ala., grew up in Dothan, Ala., and lived in Cottonwood, Ala., for many years. He had been living in the Panama City area for the past 15 years. He founded Beall Peanut Company in Cottonwood in 1939 and was involved in the business until his retirement in 1967. Mr. Beall was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church and had attended Woodlawn Methodist Church in Panama City Beach. He was a member of Bay Point Men's Golf Association and enjoyed golf and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Catharine Ford Beall. Survivors include his daughters, Catharine Byrd and her husband Bill of Vancouver, Wash., Josephine "Jobie" Ponder and her husband Dan of Compass Lake, Fla.; a son, Joseph " Joe" M. Beall Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 at Cottonwood City Cemetery in Cottonwood, Ala., with the Rev. Ronald Ball officiating. Mr. Beall's grandchildren will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of N.W. Florida, 2001 N Palafox, St., Pensacola, FL 32501-2144.

Nora Byrd, age 69, a resident of Panama City, Fla., passed away at her residence on Monday, Dec. 20. A native of North Morganfield, Ky., the daughter of the late Malcom and Myrtle Harries, Yates. A homemaker, she was the widow of the late Harry G. Byrd who passed away in 1995. A son, Gordon Cook passed away in 1999. Survivors are three sons: James E. Cook and Roger Yates both of Panama City, Ronald Stokes and wife, Rowena Yates of Gantt, Ala.; two daughters, Margaret Cook of Gantt, Ala., and Brenda Lucas of Sebree, Ky; brother, David Yates of Ohio; sister, Rachael Yates of Coffeeville, Ala.; nine grandchildren: Ronald Yates Jr. and Christina Cartwright both of Gantt, Ala.; Chad Lucas and Jennifer Lucas both of Sebree, Ky.; Wendy Yates, Roger Yates Jr. and Daniel Yates all of Panama City; Misty Cook and Mindy Cook both of Brazil, Ind. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. from Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sharp officiating.

Ruby Florence Hogeboom, 79, of Bonifay passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 1999 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Fla. Funeral services for Ruby Hogeboom will be held today, Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. at Sims Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Lynn Haven Cemetery at 2 p.m. Mrs. Hogeboom is preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Hogeboom Sr. and step-daughter, Jeanne Turner; step-sons, Richard Hogeboom and Patrick (Burch) Hogeboom; her parents, Jay and Martie Williams; brothers, George C. (Kenny) Williams and Frank C. (Snooks) Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Frances (Sunny) Block, and husband Don of McLoud, Okla.; son, Lawrence C. Hogeboom and wife Suzie of McAllister, Okla.; stepson, Edward L. Hogeboom and wife Maurice of Destin; two brothers, Cecil Williams of Panama City and Carl Williams and wife Pat of Panama City; two sisters, Etholine (Polly) Jacobowski of Tallahassee and Jewell Brock of Tallahassee; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

DALLAS B. HOWARD
Mr. Dallas B. Howard, 80, of Panama City, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 21, 1999 at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Bay County and worked as a body mechanic at Nelson Buick for 40 years. He was also a movie operator with the Panama City Theatres, was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S.AF. Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Nell Howard of Panama City; one daughter Pam Arnold and husband Rusty of New Hope, Fla.; one son, Doug Howard and wife Judy of Panana City; three grandchildren: Shaunn Trexler Fernandez, Cres Messina and Erica Howard; two great-grandchildren, Patrick Messina and Christina Messina. Funeral services for Mr. Howard will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Intement will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mae to Bay Medical Center Hospice in memory of Mr. Howard.
