ALMA LEE THURMAN LOVE
Mrs. Alma Lee Thurman Love, 80; of Fountain, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at her daughter's home. Born in Dothan, Ala., she moved here in 1942 and retired from the Bay County School Board after 21 years of service as a bus driver. Mrs. Love was the first lady bus driver in the county and was a member of the Youngstown Baptist Church. Mrs. Love is survived by her husband, Alexander G. Love of Fountain, Fla.; one daughter, Wanda L. Odom and husband Wayne of Youngstown, Fla.; one son, Harold Thurman Jr. and wife Tanya of Fountain; one brother, Robert Adams of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Lucille Howell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jessie Clark of Dothan, Ala.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted today, Jan. 4, 2000, at 3 p.m. in the Youngstown Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Youngstown Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jimmy Sheffield, Junior Ethridge, Robert Webb, Jow Griffin, Harvey Sheffield and Ivan Griffin.

ROBERT RILEY MADDOX
Mr. Robert Riley Maddox, 87, of 1113 Hickory Ave., St. Andrews, Fla., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at his home. He was a member of St. Andrews Assembly of God Church for 45 years and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 212 in St. Andrews for 50 years. Mr. Maddox was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Defense Fuel Supply Point in Lynn Haven. Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pansy V. (Adkins) Maddox of St. Andrews; one son, Howard Maddox of Howard's Creek, Fla.; one daughter, Lenora V. Armagost and husband Rodney of St. Andrews; two brothers, Grover "Pee Wee" Maddox of Panama City and Sylvester Maddox of Venice, Fla.; one sister, Louise Adkins of Panama City; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; honorary nephew, Lonnie Padgett of Monticello, Fla., and numerous nieces, nephews and special family friend, Charlotte Sanders of Alford, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan, 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. in St. Andrews Assembly of God Church with Pastors Jeff Scalf and Baldwin Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

FLORENCE ARLEDGE NIXON
Florence Arledge Nixon, age 75, passed away on Jan. 3, 2000, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. "Flo," as most knew her, was born on Nov. 10, 1924, in Forty Fort, Pa. She grew up a Yankee until she met her future husband, Dr. James D. Nixon, while a student at Temple University in Philadelphia. After graduating with a R.N.B.S. degree in nursing, she and James married and moved to Panama City. Flo was an active member and prominent leader of many service organizations in this area. She was a past chairman of the American Red Cross nursing services, a vice-president and chairman of the Women" Auxiliary for Florida Medical Association, and a past president of both the Bay Medical Auxiliary Club and the Jr. Woman's Club of Panama City. She was a longtime member of the Junior Service League of Panama City, Bay Medical Hospital Auxiliary, St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, Panama Country Club and First United Methodist Church. Flo's professional career involved work as a teacher, nurse and manager. She was a medical surgical nursing instructor for five years and an acting chairman for one year at Gulf Coast Community College. She received the Outstanding Teacher's Award there for the 1968-69 school year. She also managed Dr. Jim's office during years of his practice. Flo was widely known for her love of bridge. She was a life master and an accredited teacher for the American Contract Bridge League. She was also a member and past president of the Panama City Duplicate Bridge Club and NW Florida Bridge Board. Flo's passion for the game was unfazed by her illness and she will always be remembered as a natural yet gracious "card shark." Her remarkable zest for life will be carried on by all who knew her. Flo is preceded in death by her husband, James D. Nixon, M.D. She is survived by her son, Robert Nixon of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughters: Beverly Nixon Dusseault and husband Brian Dusseault of Panama City, Judy Nixon Dusseault and husband Bruce Dusseault of Panama City; brother, Martin Arledge and wife Irene of Dallas, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Sarah Nixon, Ashley Nixon, Corbitt Nixon and Danaan Nixon of Palmetto, Fla., Brianna Dusseault, Beau Dusseault, Belle Dusseault and Rachel Dusseault of Panama City, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Nixon of Panama City and Margaret Downer of Panama City Beach; nephews: Mark Arledge of Kingston, Pa., Jimmy Nixon of Bradenton, Fla., Ray B. Nixon Jr. of Panama City, Charles Downer of Provo, Utah; nieces, Janet Dunkin of Englewood, Fla. and Peggy Downer of Panama City Beach. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Newton and the Rev. Al Rowell officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Ray Nixon, James Nixon, Eric Nixon, David Dunkin, Mark Arledge and Paul Ciesielski. Honorary pallbearers will include: Dr. Floyd Humphries, Dr. Rodney Morris, Dr. Joe Morris, Mr. Ralph Prows, Mr. Dale Johnson and the staff of the James Nixon Respite Center. ETHEL MARIE PALMER
Mrs. Ethel Marie Palmer, age 65, of 2617 East 3rd Street , Panama City, Fla. passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000 in a local nursing home. She has been a resident of Bay County for 54 years coming here from Geneva, Ala. and was a member of Eastside Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Palmer is proceeded in death by her Mother, Father, one sister, one daughter, three granddaughters, one great-grandson and two sons missing at sea, Wayne and Stevie Palmer. Survived by her husband of 49 years, Mr. Ralph Palmer, of Panama City, Fla. Also, survived by her children: Raymond Hill, wife Mildred of Springfield, Fla., Thomas Palmer of Springfield, Fla., Brenda Palmer Vincent, husband and loving son-in-law Howard Vincent of Chipley, Fla., James Palmer of Panama City, Fla., Billy Palmer, wife Lynn of Panama City, Fla., Bruce Palmer, wife Stacey of Prairieville, La., David Palmer, wife Theresa of Panama City, Fla. Also, loving grandson Kenneth Williamson. Survived by her brothers and sisters: Hazal Swartz of Southport, Fla., Francis Goodman of Callaway, Fla., Carolyn Record of Panama City, Fla., JoAnn Danley of Lynn Haven, Fla., Jane Ann Rodgers of Panacea, Fla., Dewey Hill of Vernon, Fla., Charlie Hill of Springfield, Fla., and Edward Hill of Callaway, Fla.; 25 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Jan. 4, 2000 from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Cromer officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Brian Mosley, Stacy McQuagge, Farrell Record, Todd Mosley, Terry Ruddy, Terry Peeples, Terry Loweman, Corbin Mosley. Funeral services for Retired Major USAF Alvah R. Parsons, age 68, of 1505 Dover Road, Parker, Fla., who passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at his home will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 4, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Daniels officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Love Mausoleum with full military honors accorded by Tyndall Air Force Base and Masonic Rites conducted by the Parker Lodge. The lodge will be opened at 2 p.m. today, an hour prior to service time. Those desiring may make contributions to the Parker United Methodist Church.

SEANIE ELOISE SUBER
Mrs. Seanie Eloise Suber, age 92, of 621 Tate Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in a local hospital. Mrs. Suber had lived here for 47 years, coming here from Wewahitchka. She was a homemaker and a member of the Life and Praise Assembly of God. Mrs. Suber is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Wanda Croft and Mrs. Madeline Ridings, both of Panama City, and Mrs. Marguerite Mullikin of Sun Prairie, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Franklin Suber. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. today, Jan. 4 at the graveside in the Forest-Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Wiley T. Davis officiating. Interment will follow. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Richard Wagner, Jerry Suber, Carl Suber, Donny Suber, Jeremy Suber, and Sherman Retherford. Honorary pallbearers will include Oscar Cook, Odis Miles, James Brown, Jim Hardenburg and C.A. Boykin.

WANDA LEE VAN WILPE
Mrs. Wanda Lee Van Wilpe, age 66, of 3926 W. 21st St., Panama City, Fla., died Sat., Jan. 1, 2000 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She has been a resident of the area for 2 1/2 years, coming here from Nashville, Tenn.. Mrs. Van Wilpe was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Briceville, Tenn. She served her country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force. She is survived by her husband, James B. Van Wilpe of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Teresa Pekard and her husband Behooz of Orlando, Fla.; sons: Archie VanWilpe and his wife Jeanne of Birmingham, Ala., Jim Van Wilpe and his wife Kim of Panama City, Fla., and George Van Wilpe of Auburn, Ala.; sisters: Gloria Abbott of Carol Stream, Ill. Deloris Lay of Clinton, Tenn., and Martha Bridges of Lake City, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Vicki O'Shell of Shawnee, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Houston and Vivian O'Shell and two brothers, Ronnie O'Shell and Oliver O'Shell. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 4, 2000, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Sellars officiating. military honors will be conducted by the Tyndall Air Force Honor Guard. Interment will follow.

WILLIAM JOSEPH 'RED' VELLIQUETTE
Mr. William Joseph "Red" Velliquette, age 38, of 334 Camelia Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000 at a local hospital. He has been a resident of the area for nine years, coming here from Sandusky, Ohio. He was a graduate of Danbury High School in Marble Head, Ohio. Mr. Velliquette was a commercial fisherman for the Port Clinton Fisheries and Bamba's Fish Cleaning in Port Clinton, Ohio and also worked for Bell Signs. He was also a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Vernon, Fla.. Mr. Vellliquette is survived by his wife, Dana Velliquette of Panama City, Fla.; daughters: Quinn Gerkin of Port Clinton, Ohio, Ashley Kessler of Greensboro, N.C., and Margarette Velliquette of Panama City, Fla.; father, Robert L. Velliquette of Pana, Ill.; mother, Delores Susie Furstenburg Bickley of Marble Head, Ohio; sister, Lou AnnVelliquette of Mislawaka, Ind.; brother, Brad Velliquette of Denver, Colo.; grandmother, Margarette Furstenburg of Port Clinton, Ohio; step-mother, Peg Velliquette of Pana, Ill.; stepfather, Daniel Bickley of Marble Head, Ohio; stepsister, Cory Bickley of Port Clinton, Ohio; and stepbrother, Paul Bickley of Port Clinton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Melvin and Goldie Velliquette and William Furstenburg. Mr. Ernest M. Youngblood, age 93, of Southport, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000. Mr. Youngblood has been a resident of Southport, Fla., all of his life. He is survived by one daughter, Odean Anderson Shank and her husband Charles of Panama City; three grandchildren: Sandy Moore and her husband Wayne of Panama City, Judy Radke and her husband Ron of Panama City, and Susan Warren and her husband Glenn of Wausau, Fla; three great-grandchildren: Justin Nelson, Heather Radke and Heath Radke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Viney Youngblood. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Southport First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and the Rev. Hayward Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow at Southport Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Cynthia Diane (Wilson) Figueira, 51, of 103 Monica Drive, Port St. Joe, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of Port St. Joe for approximately 25 years moving to Port St. Joe from Apalachicola, Fla., and was Pentecostal by faith. She worked with Swifty Mart Convenience Stores since 1989 and was the manager of the Swifty Mart Store in Port St. Joe Beach. Mrs. Figueira was preceded in death by a son, Keith Elton Wilson II. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Anthony Figueira of Port St. Joe; one grandson, David Keith Wilson of Mexico Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Lisa Bentley of Eastpoint, Fla., and Martha Flowers of Apalachicola; one brother, Mark Wilson of Apalachicola; and one daughter-in-law, Patty Wilson Minger of Mexico Beach. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at 10 a.m. EST in Highland View Church of God with the Rev. Tim Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hills Cemetery.
