Funeral services for Ruth Erene Trexler, 41, of Panama City, who died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at her home, will be held today at 10:30 a.m. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Pastor Gary Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Active pallbearers are: Holton Harders, Robert Henry, Tim Odom, Charlie Betz, Ed Taylor, Jeff Crumpler and Tom Westfall. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the memorial fund of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in memory of Ruth Trexler.

H. F. 'SPOTBALL' BARBEE
Mr. H.F. "Spotball" Barbee, 84, of Port St. Joe, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000. He was a native of Calhoun County, but for over half a century, he had lived in Port St. Joe working as a painter/contractor. Along with his wife, Bernice, who preceded him in death, he was a long time member of Long Avenue Baptist Church. Always ready with a quick joke and an endearing smile, Spot will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Judy Barbee, Archie and Glenda Barbee, and Joel and Melba Barbee, all of Port St. Joe; six grandchildren: Stacy Stomp (and husband John), Angel Barbee, Joey Barbee, Marcie Barbee, Nikki Pugh, and Brian Pugh; two sisters, Vivian Scott and Joan Herndon; one brother, Brownie Barbee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EST Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 at Long Avenue Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Dan Duncan and the Rev. Mark Jones. Mr. Barbee will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the family plot in Holly Hill Cemetery. The Deacons of Long Avenue Baptist Church will serve as active and honorary pallbearers; other honorary pallbearers will be A.V. Bateman, Tom Braxton, Buddy Bridges, Harold Hintoe, Eddie Jones and R. H. Sewell.

EDWARD KENNISON KETTICK SR.
Edward Kennison "Ken" Kettick of Panama City died in his home Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at the age of 85. Mr. Hettick was born in Severance, Kan., May 1, 1914. He had been an active member of this community since moving to Panama City from Kansas City, Mo., in 1949. In addition to his profession in accounting and business management he was a professional musician. He directed the choirs in several area churches and was highly sought after as a tenor soloist. Mr. Hettick devoted many volunteer hours to the community as a board member of local charitable and service organizations including the Salvation Army and the Council on Aging. He was a 45-year member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club. After a career with the Florida Department of Revenue, Mr. Hettick retired in 1983. Mr. and Mrs. Hettick celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary Dec. 18, 1999. In addition to his wife Beatrice Johnson Hettick, Mr. Hettick is survived by one son, Edward K. Hettick Jr. of Tallahassee; four daughters: Joyce Rhea Paul of Denver, Colo., Jo Ann Samukawa of Panama City, Marcia Howe Michael and her husband James Michael of Atlanta, and Susan Lynn Hettick of Panama City, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Gail Edward. Family visitation will be held today, Jan. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Southerland Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church Saturday, Jan. 9 at 3 p.m. Donations may be made in Mr. Hettick's memory to Catholic Social Services.

LUCILLE McGRIFF CHESTNUT
Mrs. Lucille McGriff Chestnut, 83, of 641 E. 10th Court, died Wednesday Jan. 5, 2000 in a local hospital. She was a native of Attapulgus, Ga., and a resident of Panama City for many years. She was a beautician. She was a devoted and faithful member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Chestnut. She is survived by her two devoted great nieces whom she helped rear, Jeanetta Grimsley (Jason) and Josephine Barthel (Samuel) both of Attapulqus, Ga.; sister, Alzura McGriff Taylor of Attapulgus, Ga.; step-son, James Chestnut of Dayton, Ohio; step-daughter, Elva Chestnut Smith of San Antonio, Texas; three great-great nieces whom she call her "little angels": Talisha Thomas, Jocelyn Grimsley and Hadley Barthel, all of Attapulqus, Ga.; two devoted cousins, Dorothy Mincy (Elder Hosea) of Lynn Haven, and Robert Earl Oney of Wewahitchka; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Chestnut will be held today, January 8, 2000 at 1 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 724 W. l9th St., with Bro. Charles Robinson officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at The Kingdom Hall today, Jan. 8, from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at E. 10th Court.

WILLIE IRENE HOWARD
Mrs. Willie Irene Howard, 92, of Blountstown, died Thursday in the Calhoun-Liberty Hospital in Blountstown. Mrs. Howard was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Altha. Survivors include one son, Stanley Paul Johnson of Tennessee; one brother, Paul Griffin of Blountstown; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Holley and Mrs. Dollie Edenfield of Blountstown; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 8, 2000 at 2 p.m. CST in Williams Memorial Methodist Church at Scots Ferry with the Rev. Paul Griffin and the Rev. Ed Masterson officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Hucks, age 52, of 140 Elm Way, Panama City, Fla.,who died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Brogdon officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Jan. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

MARK HUDSON
Mr. Mark Hudson, 38, of Youngstown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 in Bay Medical Center. Born in Port St. Joe, he had been a resident of Youngstown since 1995. Prior to that, he lived many years in California, where he was employed by Northrop-Ventura Division. Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Fennie Hudson and Vio Anderson. Survivors include his parents, Ross and Mary Lou Hudson of Youngstown; his grandmother, Janet Anderson of Tallahassee; two brothers, Ricky Hudson of Ventura, Calif., and Rusty Hudson of Youngstown; and a number of other relatives. The funeral services will be held at 11 p.m. EST Monday at the graveside in Holly Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. William Brown. Interment will follow. He will lie in state at Comforter Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

GERALDINE KIDD
Mrs. Geraldine Kidd, age 71, of 1113 Lindenwood Drive, Panama City, Fla, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 at a local nursing home. She has been a resident of the area since 1963, coming here from Ozark, Ala. Mrs. Kidd is survived by a son, Richard Kidd; a sister, Shirley Bentley of Fletcher, Okla.; and special friends, Ruth Banks and her husband Grey of Panama City, Fla. She was preceded death by her husband, Hollice E. Kidd.
