Herman Rudolph McMillian, 93, of Grand Ridge died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, in the Blountstown Health and Rehab Center.

The funeral will be held today, Thursday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Salem Wesleyan Church with Pastors Jack Howell, Bill Pevy and Sam Swinney officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

James Allen Meredith Sr., 75, of Marianna died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Jackson County Hospital.

He was born in Malone, spending his lifetime in the produce business in Jackson County. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

He is survived by: His loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Singletary Meredith of Marianna; two sons, Chester Meredith and his wife Lynn, and James Allen Meredith Jr., all of Bainbridge, Ga.; four daughters, Gail Bruner and her husband Ronnie of Phenix City, Ala., Patrema Meredith of Marianna, Rachel Williams and her husband Tyrone of Greenwood, and Deborah Carnely and hr husband James of Marianna; two brothers, Pete Meredith of Jacksonville, and Ronald Meredith of Bristol; two sisters, Lerline Alday of Marianna and Dolly Davis and her husband Bill of Marianna; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home with the Rev. James Register officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ben Bruner, Max Bruner, Howard Meredith, Michael Meredith, Dean Meredith, and Ken Kent.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight, Friday, Nov. 21, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Mary Nina Maddox, 79, of Marianna died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Jackson County Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was a member of the Faith Haven Assembly of God Church in Grand Ridge, a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Calhoun County and spent most of her life in Jackson County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Walter Maddox, and her mother and father, Harrison Sewell and Caroline Pelt Sewell.

She is survived by: Four daughters, Patricia Lawson of Panama City, Janice Maddox of Grand Ridge, Judy Lester of Panama City Beach, and Marianne Broxton of Marianna; one sister, Neva Boggs of Blountstown; five grandchildren, Caroline McClahan and her husband Rich of Panama City Beach, Travis Lawson and his wife Ellie of Gainesville, Ben Lester of Panama City Beach, Shawna Burris and her husband Jason of Charlotte, N.C., and Kelly Broxton of Panama City Beach; and three great-grandchildren, Nina and Richie McClahan of Panama City Beach, and Tyler Burris of Charlotte, N.C.

The funeral will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Faith Haven Assembly of God Church in Grand Ridge with the Revs. Jeffrey DuBose and Richard Williams officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Marianna.

The family will receive friends at the church Saturday, Nov. 22, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Lord Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James Calvin Mathis, of Cochran, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Marianna after an extended illness.

Survivors include son, Bob Mathis and wife Peggy, of Marianna, sister Alma Bryant, of Macon, Ga., brother Bobby Mathis and wife Lillian, of Cochran, Ga., two granddaughters Meredith Hutcheson and husband Mike, and Kaki Sweatt and husband Chuck, and three great-granddaughters.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 22 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Marianna, with the Rev. Lee Bott officiating. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Louis UDon Barwick, 70, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Barwick was a member of the Church of God, Marianna.

Mr. Barwick was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is retired from the City of Marianna.

Mr. Barwick was born in Port St. Joe, Fla., but spent his entire lifetime in Marianna.

Mr. Barwick is survived by sons Jason Barwick and wife Lori, of Marianna, Donny Barwick and wife Laurie, of Marianna, and Tony Barwick and wife Vickie, of Fountain; a daughter, Donna Womble and husband Russell, of Marianna; five brothers C.D. Barwick and wife Bonnie, Rudolph Barwick and wife Martha, Jack Barwick and wife Shirley and Larry Carnley and wife Cindy, all of Marianna, and William Barwick, of Altha; sisters Doris Adkins and husband George, Tilly Jones and Frances Cobb, all of Marianna, Elouise Collins, of Tallahassee and Hazel Carnley and husband Cecil, of Marianna; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. from the Church of God with the Rev. Anthony Glover officiating. Interment will follow in Dykes Cemetery in Marianna.

The family will receive friends at Lord Funeral Home Sunday, Nov. 23, from 6-8 p.m.

Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.

Mrs. Josephine Ruth Coombs Burgess, 80, of Fort Pierce, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, with her husband and loving family at her side as she peacefully went to join her Heavenly Father.

She was born in San Diego, Calif., July 12, 1923, to Frank G. and Lavina Baxter Coombs. She married Robert Eugene "Gene" Burgess on Nov. 8, 1942, and they just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her loving husband Gene Burgess, of Fort Pierce; daughter Roberta Stewart and husband Willard, of Marianna; son Robert Edwin "Eddie" Burgess, of Fort Pierce; grandchildren Rick Stewart, of Olive Branch, Miss., Ron Stewart, of Jacksonville, Bobby Stewart, of Marianna, Fran Spivey, of Grand Ridge, Nickie Powell, Angie Stricker, Matt Burgess and Jonathan Burgess, all of Fort Pierce; nine great-grandchildren Megan Stewart, Christopher Stewart and Ren Stewart, all of Marianna, Lauren Stewart, of Jacksonville, Austin Stricker, Cameron Powell, Madison Powell, Ryliegh Burgess, all of Fort Pierce and Austin Spivey, of Grand Ridge.

A private memorial service was held at her son's home, Nov. 21. Friends who wish may contribute to the American Cancer Society or the Andrew Alsup Scholarship Fund, c/o Caverns Road Church of Christ in Marianna.

Mrs. Kelly Leann "Creamer" White, 23, of Altha, died Friday, Nov. 21 at her home.

Kelly was born in Blountstown and had lived in Calhoun County for most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of the Victory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church near Altha.

Kelly was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Jesse L. Cole and her paternal grandfather Robert Glenn Creamer.

Survivors include husband David White, of Altha; mother Mary Ann Young, of Altha; father Derek Creamer, of Altha; two brothers Matthew Creamer and Cagney Creamer, of Altha; sister Jessica Creamer, of Cypress; maternal grandmother Lois Cole, of Altha; paternal grandmother Maey Jean "Bowden" Creamer, of Altha; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. at the Victory Hall Pentecostal Holiness Church, near Altha, with the Rev. Dewayne Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Victory Hill Cemetery, near Altha.

The family received friends Saturday, Nov. 22 at Peavy Funeral Home. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home, Blountstown.

Major Carl Sims, 83, of Marianna, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Marianna. Arrangements will be announced by James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel, of Marianna.

Madge Lorriane Kent Sexton, 92, of 1306 Tenth Avenue in Albany, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at her residence.

A native of Washington County, she had resided in Albany, Ga. since 1991, moving from Marianna. She was a seamstress retiring from Wilson's Mens Shop. She was the widow of Gat P. Sexton and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marianna. She is survived by a daughter, Carlotta S. Sims of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Myrtle Porter of Chipley; a granddaughter and her husband, Carla and Gary Cullison and a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Cullison, all of Plains, Ga.

The funeral will be held today, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Ga. with the Rev. Bobby Moye officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. CST in Riverside Cemetery in Marianna.

The family received friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruthie Mae White, 76, of Campbellton died Thursday evening, Nov. 20, 2003, in the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital.

She was a native of Jackson County and a member of the New Bethel CME Church in Campbellton.

She leaves to cherish her memories: One daughter, Antionette Smith and her husband Jessie of Campbellton; two brothers, Cecil Roach and Phillip Roach, both of Vernon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. at the New Easter Missionary Baptist Church in Graceville with the Rev. Price Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Saint Paul Cemetery in Campbellton under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville.

Hubert F. Brock, 84, of Sneads died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 in Jackson Hospital in Marianna.

A lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, retired owner of Brock Ford in Sneads, a former member of the Jackson County School Board, director of Transportation at the Jackson County School Board and a member of the American Legion Post 241. He received the "Pop Warner Award" for outstanding work with youth and also received many other civic awards. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sneads.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Casey.

He is survived by: His wife, Betty E. Brock of Sneads; two daughters, Jeannie Brock Taylor and her husband Robert of St. Tersa, and Patricia Brock Haslam of Tallahassee; two sisters, Dorothy Wilford of Cottondale, and Geraldine Cutcheons of Lynn Haven; two brothers, Lloyd Brock of Tampa and Clinton Brock of Havana; grandchildren, Jack Brock, Tom, Bobby, Kelly, Paul, Mari and Stacey; great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Heather, Mandy, Patrick, Bryce and Logan; and very, very special friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. CST Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Victory Baptist Church, 2271 River Road in Sneads. Burial will be at a later date in Cottondale.

The family will receive friends at their home in Sneads.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson Hospital in Marianna, FL., 32446 or a favorite charity. Flowers may be sent to 8046 Eugenia Street in Sneads.

Maj. Carl C. Sims (Ret.), 83, of Marianna died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Marianna.

He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Tenn. He moved to Marianna earlier this year from Bethesda, Md. He was of the Protestant faith. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.

He is survived by: His wife, Frances H. Sims of Marianna; two sons; one daughter; one brother; three sisters; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

No local funeral services are planned. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
