Chester James Henderson, 51, of 220 Plaza Drive, Daleville, Ala., departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000 in an automobile accident. Funeral services for Mr. Henderson will be held today, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. in St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Rory Bedford, Pastor with the Rev. Raymond Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Full military honors by Fort Rucker Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at 1630 Friendship Ave.

ELMER GENE LIGON
Elmer Gene Ligon, 63, of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000 in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. and Catherine D. Ligon; his wife, Ann; and a brother, Earl. He is survived by one brother, John Venny; and four sisters: Lillian, Evelyn, Elinor and Patricia. Gene was an avid sports fan with an extraordinary ability to recount, with exceptional accuracy, past and present data relating to individual players and teams in the fields of college and professional baseball, football and basketball. He had a dry wit and a remarkable quiet endurance in the midst of intense suffering, traits that were appreciated by those that knew and loved him. He will be missed. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the people in all of the departments at Wagner's Nursing Home who gave Elmer compassionate, dedicated care throughout his residency there. A special thanks is extended to his primary care physician, Dr. Bobbi Baker, and her staff for their thoughtful and kind treatment over the past several years. A private graveside service officiated by Rick Brigman, Chaplain at Wagner's, was held Friday, Jan. 21, at Parker Cemetery.

JEFFREY 'JEFF' HOWARD MILLER SR.
Mr. Jeffrey "Jeff" Howard Miller Sr., age 37, of 8525 Fremont Road, Youngstown, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000 at a local hospital. He has been a resident of the area since 1974, graduating from Rutherford High School. He owned and operated his own floor covering business for 15 years and was a commerical fisherman for the past two years. Mr. Miller enjoyed spending time with his children, scuba diving, and anything to do with the water. He was also a member of Palo Alto Church of Christ. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 17 years, Susan Miller of Bayou George, Fla.; a son, Jeffrey Miller Jr. of Bayou George, Fla.; a daughter, Lindsay May Miller of Bayou George, Fla.; mother, Evelyn Miller of Panama City, Fla.; brothers, Gary Miller and his wife Sandy and Robert Miller and his wife Tina, all of Bayou George, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Mildred Whipple and Herbie Whipple of New Berlin, N.Y.; special uncle, Ralph Gough and his wife Frances of Atlanta, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Palo Alto Church of Christ with Mr. Kenneth Grizzell officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Randy Grissett, Matthew Allen, Bob Sullivan, Carl Pace, Tony Pelache, Coy Simpson Jr. and Gary Joins. HUGH ANDERSON MOZLEY
Retired Col. Hugh Anderson Mozley, age 90, of Panama City, Fla., departed this life on Friday, Jan. 21, 2000. He moved to Panama City at the age of seven from his birthplace, Troy, Ala. He began his employment at International Paper and then entered the military, joining the National Guard - 106th Engineer Regiment in 1934. He served as a battalion commander in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II, seeing action in the invasions of Normandy, Holland, and the Bastogne. As a lieutenant colonel, he served as special airborne advisor to Gen. Douglas MacArthur during the Korean Conflict. During his military career, he was awarded several distinguished medals including the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Belgium Croix de Guerre with Palm, the Dutch Orange Lanyard, and the French Croix de Guerre with Palm. After his retirement from the U.S. Army in 1960, he and his family moved to Connecticut and eventually returned to Panama City. He was an active member in local community organizations including the Rotary Club, Friends of the Library (president) and commander of the U.S. Power Squadron. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Panama City He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances King Mozley of Panama City, Fla.; his son, Jack King Mozely and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Danese Mozley of Tallahassee, Fla.; his daughter, Melinda Mozley Pearson and son-in-law Randy Pearson of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, Danese Marie Mozley of Tallahassee, Fla., and Clay and Tyler Pearson of Panama City, Fla. Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Newton and the Rev. Si Mathison officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military honors. Honorary pallbearers will include: Tommy Smith, Howard Sapp, Marion Nelson, Miles Harmon, Joe Tannehill, Frank McGee, Robert Green, Clyde King, Robert Welsh, the First United Methodist Church Sunday School Class, and Beach Rotary Friends. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Sunday, Jan. 23, from 3 to 5 p.m.

ALEXAUNDRA ELIZABETH 'ALEX' WEBER
Alexaundra Elizabeth "Alex" Weber, 28, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Jan. 21, 2000 in her home. She was a lifelong resident of Panama City and was a member of the St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church. She was a 1989 graduate of Bay High School, a 1991 graduate of Gulf Coast Community College, and a 1994 graduate of Florida State University with a degree in International Marketing. She is survived by her mother and father, Elizabeth and Max Weber of Panama City Beach; brother, Kurt Weber of Huntsville, Ala.; maternal grandmother, Ann Youshock of Panama City Beach; and other relatives, the Bock family in Pleasant Mount, Penn., Youshock family in Olyphant, Penn. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church with Father William Gaines officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. today. Graveside services will be held Monday in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Pleasant Mount, Penn. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church, 136 W. Baldwin Road, Panama City, Fla. 32405 or Hospice of Northwest Florida, 502 N. EMILY B. (SALLIE) WOOD
Ms. Emily B. (Sallie) Wood, age 86, of 1027 E. Bus. 98, Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at her residence. She has been a resident of the area since 1972 and was Methodist by faith. Ms. Wood is survived by her daughters: Cecil Jo-An Whaley of Leesburg, Fla., Teddie Gause of Ocala, Fla., Joy Miller of Tallahassee, Fla., and Lana Sue Joseph of Potterville, Mich; a son, Robert D. Wood of Dothan, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Lee Wood. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Chapel of Love in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Mr. Jack Reese officiating. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Jan. 23, from 1 to 2 p.m., an hour prior to service time.

ROBERT EARL CONWAY
Mr. Robert Earl Conway, 82, of 503 Springfield Ave., Springfield, died Saturday Jan. 21, 2000 in a local hospital. Born in Kittanning, Penn., he moved here in 1969 from Ford City, Penn., where he was a retired electrician after owning his own electrical appliance store. Mr. Conway was also a retired veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and was Lutheran by faith. He is survived by his wife, Mary Conway, of Springfield; one son, Gary Conway and wife Linda of Goldfield, Nev.; one brother, Charles Hold of Fairfield, Calif.; two sisters, Donna Hay of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Ruth Meals of Bonita Springs; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Conway will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral chapel. The family will be receiving friends this afternoon at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m.

DAVID LONNIE CRANFORD
David Lonnie Cranford, 55, of 22307 Clark Road, Fountain, died January 21, 2000 in his home. He was an aircraft mechanic for Pemco World Air Service in Dothan, Ala. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had been a resident of Bay County for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Lee and Violet Lorene Cranford; and brothers, Billy Cranford and Orville Cranford. He is survived by his wife, Florence E. Cranford of Fountain, two sons, David L. Cranford and Sean Jay Cranford of Enterprise, Ala.; daughter, Catrina Isbell of Dothan, Ala., five sisters: Mary Lee Spurrier of Corsicana, Texas, Sybil Slocum of Desoto, Texas, Ruby Cummings of Rockwall, Texas, Betty Case of Dallas, Texas, Glenda King of Wilmer, Texas; three brothers: Howard Cranford, of Palmer, Texas, Thomas Cranford, of Kaufman, Texas, James Cranford, of Payne Springs, Texas; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. Those desiring to may make a donation to the Bay County Humane Society in memory of David Lonnie Cranford.
