VEOLA HUDSON
Mrs. Veola Hudson, 88, of 1905 W. 18th St., died Wednesday Jan. 19, 2000 in a local nursing center. She was a native of Troy, Ala., and a resident of Panama City for many years. She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie G. Hudson; two daughters, Carrie Carter and Dorothy Beck; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Rosetta Woods Kenneth of Panama City; four sons: Jessie Hudson Winifred of Houston, Texas, Andrew Hudson of San Diego, Calif., James and Shirely Hudson and Billy and Gwen Hudson, both of Panama City; 14 grandchildren: Kelly, Cathy, Tajuana, Jessica, Justin Hudson all of Houston, Texas, Rosetta Mahone, Toriano Peterson, Mikko Telfair, Kenneth Woods Jr., Antonio, Melana, Yamura, Lasheika, Quattara Hudsson, Lisa and Lakitha Woods all of Panama City, Tori Tubbs of Dothan, Ala., and Louvenia Williams Of Bessamer Fla.; 13 great-grandchildren, a special devoted niece, Mary Gay Woodrow of Panama City; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hudson will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Thomas Jr., as pastor officiating. Interment to follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The remains will repose at the church this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., and will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1905 W. 18th St.

JOHN JOSEPH PALAIMO
Mr. John Joseph Palaimo, age 85, of 704 Tammy St., Lynn Haven, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000 at his home. He has been a resident of the area for 15 years, coming here from Lake Park, and was a native of Massachusetts. Mr. Palaimo served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked in the aircraft industry. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Men's Club at St. John's Catholic Church. Mr. Palaimo is survived by his wife, Esther M. Palaimo of Lynn Haven; a sister, Nellie Waisgerber of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Leo Palaimo of North Port; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000 at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Marty Bratek officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Catholic Social Services or to St. John's Catholic School.

WILLIAM CARL WHITTINGTON
William Carl Whittington, 53, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2000. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today, Jan. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wachob Chapel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Mae Whittington. Survivors are his wife, Dana Whittington of Chipley; two sons, Steve and wife Brenda Whittington of Chipley, David and wife Ami Whittington of Chipley; father, Bascom Whittington of Chipley; six grandchildren: Bo, Brent, Jessica, John, Ed and Cary Beth. Those asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Greg Mathis, Carlos Trawick, Lynn Cope Jr., Gary Abbott, Ronnie Taylor and Keith West.

MICHAEL PAUL BONNER
Michael Paul Bonner, 22, of Panama City, died Monday in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1991 moving here from Marietta, Ga. He was a 1995 graduate of Mosley High School and was a student at Florida State University. He was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Keith Bonner; a brother, Matthew Bonner and his wife, Vyneri all of Panama City; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Jewel Alligood of Wewahitchka, Fla.; and a nephew, Alec Bonner. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Wewahitchka City Cemetery. Active pallbearers are: Keith Lemasters, Dustin Hughes, Glenn Alligood, Clay Alligood, Marcus Sale and Clay Bazzel. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacon Body of St. Andrew Baptist Church, Gordy Pongratz, Dr. Brent Denley, Stan Whittle and Harold Harper.

Mrs. Elaine Pate Daniel, age 79, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 in Panama City. Mrs. Daniel was born June 18, 1920 in Pensacola to Angus Edward and Malzie Ella Ward Pate. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carley Robert Daniel and her father and mother, Angus and Malzie Pate and one brother, Edward Eugene Pate. Mrs. Daniel is survived by one son, Robert Alan Daniel of Mt. Marion, N.Y.; one daughter, Kay Mayne and husband Ron of Panama City; two brothers, Kenna Pate and wife Carol of Bruce, Fla., and Dex Pate and wife Margie of Panama City; three sisters: Zera Denson of Bruce, Pansy Bjorklund of Panama City and Naomi Starr and husband H.E. of Baytown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 at Bruce Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Young officiating. Burial will follow at Dead River Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 27 at Clary-Godwin Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Bill Angelos, Chuck Tucker, Brett Hertzing, Terry Mayne, James Walters and H.E. Starr. Honorary pallbearers will be Nowling Cox, Jimmy Ward, Jimmy Waits, Early Wilson, Earl Godsey and Michael Calumbo.

MARK LANE KELLEY
Mr. Mark Lane Kelley, age 44, of 4427 Fletcher St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000 in Calhoun County, as the result of a hunting accident. He was a lifetime resident of the area, a member of Boilermakers Local No. 199, and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. Kelley loved hunting and fishing and being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Glenn Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Justin Lane Kelley and Jason Ian Kelley, both of Panama City, Fla.; step-sons, Jeptha Alan Davis and Taylor Lee Davis, both of Albertville, Ala.; mother, Kathryn Lane Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; sister, Jennifer Kay Alford and her husband Dan of Inlet Beach, Fla.; brothers: Jerry Elliot Kelley and his wife Margie, Jimmy Ray Kelley and his wife Petra, and Gary Steven Kelley and his wife Gale, all of Panama City, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elliott Kelley. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29 at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. EDWARD JOSEPH KNIGHT
Edward Joseph Knight, 77, of Port St. Joe, died on his birthday, Jan. 19, 2000 in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Gulf County since 1979 when he retired as General Manager of General Motors Overseas Operations in N.Y. City to pursue a dream of campground ownership at Cape San Blas. Born in England in 1923 he became an engineer prior to immigrating to Ontario Canada where he became a professional engineer, began raising a family and was active Skipper of Sea Scout Troop 56. 1959 brought him to the United States where his busy career, a boy scout troop leader, a 4-H and square dancing filled his schedule. Running and cycling were his passion for the years to follow his move to Florida. He was a member of Panhandle Runners and Triathletes Club, setting several course time records for his age group which still stand. He was a founding member of the South Gulf County Fire Department, completing fire fighter training in the early 1980s. More recently he served a two year term as president of St. Joe Bay Chapter of the AARP. At the time of his passing he was district coordinator of AARP/IRS Tax Aide for four counties. He will be missed. Edward is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gwendoline; a son, Terence of Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Heather of Washington, N.J., and Pamela of Sugarloaf, Penn.; and six grandchildren. At Ed's request memorials may be sent to Voyageur Outward Bound School, Suite 120 Mill Place, 111 Third Avenue South, Minniapolis, Minn. 55401. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. at Southerland Funeral Home.
