Mrs. A. Mae Wilhite, 78, of 2812 W. 13th St., St. Andrews, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of the area for 55 years, moving here from Hartford, Ala., in 1945. She was a member of the St. Andrew Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilhite was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, past member of the Panama City Woman's Club, and Garden Club. Mrs. Wilhite is survived by her son, Michael W. Wilhite and his wife Judy W. of Panama City; one brother, the Rev. Floyd C. Enfinger Sr. and his wife June of Fairhope, Ala.; three grandchildren, Michelle W. Weed of Ft. Lauderdale, Michael L. Wilhite of Fort Lauderdale, and Marcus W. Wilhite of Panama City; nieces, Annie Lee Riley of Hartford, Ala.; Carolyn Fondren of Huntsville, Ala., Bebe Cleveland of Fairhope, Ala., Robin King of Atlanta, Ga.; nephews, Carl Enfinger of Hartford, Ala., and Floyd C. Enfinger Jr. of Fairhope, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Leona Enfinger of Hartford, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Wilhite. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Britton and the Rev. Floyd Enfinger officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at Hurricane Methodist Church Cemetery in Hartford, Ala., Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at 3 p.m. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are, Michael L. Wilhite, Marcus W. Wilhite, Carl Enfinger, Joe Riley, L.L. Redd, Bill Faulk, and Buster Hollis. Honorary pallbearers will include: the members of the Order of Eastern Star and Amaranth. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, today, Feb. 2, 2000 from 6 until 8 p.m.

STEPHEN A. 'OPIE' ARCHIBOLD
Mr. Stephen A. "Opie" Archbold, 31, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died early Monday morning, January 31, 2000 in Walton County as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Bethesda, Md., he moved here in 1987 from Herndon, Va. He was a waiter at the 83rd Central Square in Seaside and at the Café Sublime. Stephen is survived by his mother, Audrey Archbold of Coral Gables, Fla.; and his father, Emerson E. Archbold of Barnesville, Ohio; one brother, Michael Edward Archbold of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; three sisters: Susan Elizabeth Edwards of Coral Gables, Fla., Kathy Jean Archbold and Laurie O'Brien and husband Jeff all of Sterling Va.; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Archbold, Joseph O'Brien, Sarah Edwards and Megan O'Brien. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 4, 2000 at 10 a.m. in the Cross Point Baptist Church in Santa Rosa Beach. The family will receive friends at the church, which is located on Hwy. 393 in Santa Rosa Beach this evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

ALYCE MAE BENGTSON
Mrs. Alyce Mae Bengtson, 84, of 1128 S. Gay Ave., Panama City, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area for 10 years, coming here from Colorado Springs, Colo. Mrs. Bengtson was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 8205, the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 38 of Security, Colo., AmVets No. 2298, Air Force Seargent's Association Auxiliary No. 553, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Security, Colo., and Women of the Moose Chapter No. 256. She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne Thro of Panama City; sons: Marvel Hansen of Stillwater, Minn., David Hansen of Yakima, Wash., Phillip Hansen of Hastings, Minn., Ted Moe of Stillwater, Minn., and Norbert Moe of Columbia Heights, Minn.; sisters: Velora, Georgia, Vivian, and Winifred; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bengtson; and a son, Clinton Bengston. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 from 6 to 8 p.m.

WANDA MAE CARTER
Mrs. Wanda Mae Carter, 57, of Youngstown, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 in Oklahoma. Born in LeFlore, Okla., she moved here in 1959 from Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a homemaker, a nurse and a member of the Sand Hills Community Church. Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her parents, Nora and Allen Knight and her husband Wallace L. Carter. She is survived by three sons: Lonnie Allen Tarvin of Wilburton, Okla., Glenden LeDell Carter of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Kenneth Ray Carter of Wilburton, Okla.; two daughters, Merzel Ann Norton and husband Randy, Nora Mavis Fox and husband Charles all of Callaway, Fla.; two brothers, Jimmy Dean Knight and L.A. Knight and wife Flo; two sisters, Kathryen Graham and Lola Paxton and husband Ronnie all of Wilburton, Okla.; six grandchildren, one great-grandson, nine stepchildren and 13 stepgrandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Cromer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

VALERIE CATHERINE CREAMER
Mrs. Valerie Catherine Creamer, 61, of Southport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000 at her home. She was born on Jan. 20, 1939 in Liverpool, England. Mrs. Creamer is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Burdette Creamer of Southport; a son, Mark Creamer; and grandson, Alan Creamer of Leyman, S.C.; special aunts: Maggie, Mary and Ann, all of Liverpool, England; special sisters-in-law: Pansy Alday and Eloise Johns of Southport, and Nona Scott of Chipley; special brothers-in-law, Walter B. Creamer of Apalachicola, and Willie Creamer and his wife Ethel of East Point; special friends, Jackie and Cathy Sowell; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her faithful dog, Spike. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Owen Creamer of Southport; and her parents, Catherine and Albert Dunkley of Liverpool, England. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nixon Riley and the Rev. Darwin Glass officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are, Jackie Sowell, Dale Anderson, James Wilson, Tommy Hall, Archie Creamer and Anthony Creamer. FRANK HAROLD DENHAM SR.
Mr. Frank Harold Denham Sr., 83, of Columbia, S.C., a former resident of Panama City for many years, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 at Providence Hospital. He was born in Laurel, Miss., the son of the late Ennis Pinckney Denham and Claudia King Denham. Mr. Denham worked for many years in commercial refrigeration and later went into home building. He retired as president of Standard Homes, Inc. in Albany, Ga. He was also a lay minister in his church for many years and was a member of Trinity Assembly of God. Mr. Denham is survived by his five sons: Frank Harold Denham Jr. of D'Iberville, Miss., J.D. Denham of Brandon, Miss., Alva Robert Blocker of Crestview, James S. Blocker of Port Charlotte, and the Rev. Richard Ronald Denham of Manteo, N.C.; a daughter, Sandra Denham Roberts of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, J. Don Denham of Natchez, Miss.; two sisters, Aline Myrick of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Louise Barnett of Rome, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 3, 2000 from 7 to 9 p.m.

NANETTE 'NAN' BARNES DOWLING
Funeral services for Nanette "Nan" Barnes Dowling, 79, of Gulf Breeze, who died Sunday, January 30, 2000 in a Gulf Breeze nursing home, will be held today at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Marty Bratek officiating. Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in the Fort Barrancus National Cemetery, Pensacola, with the Rev. Jack Gray officiating. Active pallbearers are, Bob Hodges, Augi Yanke, Tim Tierney, Jim Kleback, Lance Logue and Jimmy Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Crocker, Tom Demonbrun, Don Miller and Jim Girard. JOHN M. GALBRAITH JR.
Lt. Col. John M. Galbraith Jr., Ret., 82, of 128 Linda Ave., Panama City, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2000 at a local hospital. He was born in Palmetto, in 1917 to Laura Harllee Galbraith and J.M. Galbraith Sr. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1938 with a B.S. in Forestry (with honors). This was the first class of forestry offered. Upon graduation from college, he received the 2nd lieutenant's commission in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was stationed in the Philippines when World War II began. He served with the 1st Battalion, 57th Infantry, Philippine Division. He survived the Bataan Death March and 31/2 years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. He retired from the U.S. Army in January 1961 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was baptized in the Church of Christ. He was a coordinator and lifetime member of The John Birch Society. He was adjutant and chaplain of the Hutchison-Poplawski Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War. He was predeceased by his wife, Lamarine Dale Galbraith. He is survived by two children, John M. Galbraith, III (26 years with the Gainesville Police Department) and his wife, Darlene L. Galbraith of Alachua, and Janine G. Cosson and her husband, Larry R. Cosson (U.S. Army, Ret.;) three sisters: Cate Thompson of Thomasville, Ga., Rora Cox of Orlando, and Margaret Green of Tampa; three grandchildren: Gil Cosson of Raleigh, N.C., Craig Cosson and Stephen Cosson, both Panama City; two great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 with the Rev. Bruce Raley of First Baptist Church officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow on Monday in High Springs, at the High Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hutchison-Poplawski Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War, 4917 Hensey Ave., Panama City, FL 32404.

ELIZABETH L. HAWKINS
Mrs. Elizabeth L. Hawkins, 73, of 5427-B Hilltop Ave., Panama City Beach, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000 at her home. She has been a resident of the area for two years, coming here from Tampa. Mrs. Hawkins was a retired secretary with N.A.S.A. and was Methodist by faith. She is survived by her daughters: Leta Armstrong-Mazzone of Panama City Beach, Elizabeth Armstrong of Fayetteville, Ark., and Tammy Holland of Duluth, Minn.; a brother, Homer McMahon of Greenbelt, Md.; and five grandchildren: Alexander Armstrong of Panama City, Damien Armstrong and Jasmine Armstrong, both of Fayetville, Ark., and Matthew Holland and Sara Holland, both of Duluth, Minn. Memorial services will be held on a date to be announced.
