KENNETH D. HUGHES
Mr. Kenneth D. Hughes, 71, of 2602 Pembroke Drive, Panama City, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at his home. He has been a resident of the area since 1987 coming here from Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Hughes was the parts manager at S.W.S. Frank Z Chevrolet for 26 years and parts manager at Lloyd Pontiac-Cadillac for nine years. He was a member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church in Huber Heights, Ohio and a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 14 in Troy, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Crile Hughes of Panama City; daughters, Robin Larson and her husband John of Wexford, Penn., and Dail Mengelkoch of Gainesville; a son, William Hughes and his wife Cindy of Piqua, Ohio; a sister, Helen Hall and her husband Lloyd of Troy, Ohio; a brother, Joe E. Hughes of Troy, Ohio; grandchildren: Erik Larson, Brent Larson, Dustin Mengelkoch, Joel Mengelkoch, Amy Hughes and Megan Hughes; and a great-grandson, Nathan Larson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ullery; and a brother, Charles Hughes. Services will be held at a later date at Hiland Cemetery in Covington, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Northwest Florida, 502 N. MacArthur Ave., Suite-B, Panama City, FL 32401.

EDNA L. LEDMAN
Mrs. Edna L. Ledman, 87, of Panama City, died Feb. 1, 2000 in Glen Cove Nursing Pavilion. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1978, moving here from Phoenix Ariz. She was born on Dec. 15, 1912 in Cincinnati, Ohio where she lived until 1952 when she and her family moved to Phoenix. Edna was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur E. Ledman; and her daughters: Janet Ledman, Lois Ledman and Helen Kaiser. She is survived by her son, Wilbur "Bill" T. Ledman and his wife Melanie A. of Panama City Beach; four grandchildren: Cheryl L. Meyers and her husband David of Panama City, Thomas W. Ledman and his wife Sealy of Panama City, Connie Ledman-Pyle and her husband Kirk of Panama City Beach, and Randy A. Ledman and his wife Julie of Panama City Beach; and eight grandchildren. Edna will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers a contribution to either the Alzheimer Foundation or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated. Their addresses are: Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders, P.O. EDNA LOUISE SAULS
Mrs. Edna Louise Sauls, 66, of Youngstown, Fla., died Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, 2000 in a local hospital. Born in Holmes County, she moved here in 1942 and was a homemaker and a member of The House of Prayer. Mrs. Sauls was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Marvin W. Sauls and mother, Mozell Churchwell. Mrs. Sauls is survived by two sons, Marvin Wendell Sauls and wife Melissa of Panama City, Fla., and David Leonard Sauls of Springfield, Fla.; three daughters: Mavis Nowell and husband Bobby of Bayou George, Fla., Edna Jane Morris of Vernon, Fla., and Gaynell Crockrell and husband Chris Goodwin of Springfield, Fla.; two brothers, Horace Slay and wife Irene of Panama City, Fla., and Douglas Slay and wife Sylvia of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two sisters, Nancy Ward and husband Roscoe of Bay County, Fla., and Johnnie Grainger and husband Dwight of Valley, Ala.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Sauls will be conducted on Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

CLARENCE MONROE SMITH JR.
Lt. Col. Clarence Monroe Smith Jr., Ret., 83, of Panama City, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000 in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1987 moving here from El Paso, Texas. Lt. Col. Smith served more than 20 years in the U.S. Army. During his military service, he served as aide-de-camp to the commanding general of the Ordnance Training Command, Santa Anita, Calif., and in Europe as aide-de-camp to the Fifth United States Army Ordnance Office in Italy and as aide-de-camp to the Chief military Government Officer, U.S. Forces in Austria. Lt. Col. Smith received the following awards and decorations while on active duty: Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze stars; World War II Victory Medal; Army Commendation and Occupation Medal (Germany); National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 20 year device; and Italian Partisan Award. He is survived by his daughter, Melodye Smith Prows and her husband, Sherwin of Panama City; sister, Viola Patton; brother-in-law, John William Smith, both of Paducah, Ky.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Nancy Stella Smith; a sister, Glenna B. Smith; and a brother, Leonard C. Smith. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Old Cedar Baptist Church, Monterey, Ky. Interment will follow in the Monterey Masonic Cemetery with full military honors conducted at graveside. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services. RUTH ARLENE STOLL
Ms. Ruth Arlene Stoll, 63, of 2100 Jenks Ave., Panama City, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2000 at her residence. She has been a resident of the area since February 1999, coming here from New Port Richey. Ms. Stoll was a C.N.A. for the Helping Hands Home Healthcare in Clearwater. She was also a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Dunedin. Ms. Stoll is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Bennett and her husband Mark of Panama City Beach; sons, Ronald A. Stoll and his wife Teresa of Eustis, and William Stoll of Spring Hill; a stepbrother, Larry Isenbarger and his wife Nancy of Medina, Ohio; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A private memorial service was held at the home of Mark and Suzanne Bennett.

Mrs. A. Mae Wilhite, 78, of 2812 W. 13th St., St. Andrew, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 at her home. She had been a resident of the area for 55 years, moving here from Hartford, Ala., in 1945. She was a member of the St. Andrew Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilhite was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, past member of the Panama City Woman's Club and Garden Club. Mrs. Wilhite is survived by her son, Michael W. Wilhite and his wife Judy W. of Panama City; one brother, the Rev. Floyd C. Enfinger Sr. and his wife June of Fairhope, Ala.; three grandchildren: Michelle W. Weed of Ft. Lauderdale, Michael L. Wilhite of Ft. Lauderdale and Marcus W. Wilhite of Panama City; nieces: Annie Lee Riley of Hartford, Ala., Carolyn Fondren of Huntsville, Ala., Bebe Cleveland of Fairhope, Ala., Robin King of Atlanta, Ga.; nephews, Carl Enfinger of Hartford, Ala., and Floyd C. Enfinger Jr. of Fairhope, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Leona Enfinger of Hartford, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Wilhite. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Feb. 3, 2000 at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Britton and the Rev. Floyd Enfinger officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at Hurricane Methodist Church Cemetery in Hartford, Ala., today, Feb. 3, 2000 at 3 p.m. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Michael L. Wilhite, Marcus W. Wilhite, Carl Enfinger, Joe Riley, L.L. Redd, Bill Faulk and Buster Hollis. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of the Order of Eastern Star and Amaranth.

MARTIEL SHARPE BONNER
Mrs. Martiel Sharpe Bonner, 89, of 207 S. Claire Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Thursday morning, Feb. 3, 2000, at her home. Born in Headland, Ala., she moved here in 1949. She was the first Director of Nursing of Bay Memorial Hospital and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Panama City. She was a veteran of World War II, serving as a captain in the Army Nurse Corps. in North Africa and Italy, where she was the chief nurse of a station hospital. She was a past director of the local chapter of the American Red Cross and was a member of the Panama City Women's Club. Mrs. Bonner was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carl Bonner Sr. She is survived by one son, Joseph Carl Bonner Jr. and wife Donna of Milton, Fla.; one daughter, Beverly Bonner Frick of Tallahassee, Fla.; three grandchildren: Benjamin Frick and wife Dana of Jacksonville, Fla.; Susannah Frick of Tallahassee, Fla.; and Stacey Bonner Lockett and husband Jeff of Jacksonville, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Walter Cathey officiating. Graveside service will follow in Headland, Ala., at Baptist Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Chuck Hammett, Norman Griffin, Charlie Burgess, Tom Bingham, Julian Bennett and Charlie Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Duncan, Les Jinks, Carl Russ, Paul Boswell, Charlie Abbott and Johnny Reaver. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Mae Carter, 57, of Youngstown, Fla., will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Cromer officiating. CHARLES C. ELLIOTT
Mr. Charles C. Elliott, age 65, of Parker, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at his home. Mr. Elliott was born Feb. 14, 1934, and had been a resident of Bay County since 1979, coming here from Tennessee. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Margaret Elliott of Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Elliott of Parker; his sons: John and wife Cindy of Panama City, Charles and wife Sherry of Tennessee, William of Tennessee and Jim and wife Anna of Florida; daughters: Nan and husband Greg Collins of Graceville, Fla., Susie and husband Robert Felker of Tennessee, Jo Green of Alabama, Lena Prewett of Georgia; 16 grandchildren; five brothers; and four sisters in Tennessee. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Frank Harold Denham Sr., 83, of Columbia, S.C., a former resident of the Panama City area for many years, who died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 4, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Richard Ronald Denham and the Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Interment will follow.
