KENNETH I. BUCHER
Kenneth I. "Ken" Bucher, 86, of Lynn Haven, passed away in a local hospital Friday, Feb. 4, 2000. He had been a resident of Lynn Haven since 1974, moving here from Peoria, Ill. He was a retired school teacher and administrator of 38 years. Ken was a member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. Ken was a very active Rotarian having been past president of both Lynn Haven and Panama City Beach Rotary Clubs. He was also a Paul Harris fellow with Rotary. He took great pride in having had 25 years perfect attendance with this fine organization. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Bucher; son, John William Bucher; and one brother and sister. Mr. Bucher is survived by a daughter, Jane Bucher Smith and husband Charles of Lynn Haven; son, Jim Bucher and wife Lynn of Peoria, Ill.; grandchildren: Chuck and Kenneth Bucher Smith of Lynn Haven, Jeff and Sarah Bucher of Peoria, Ill.; and sister, Ferne Scott of El Paso, Ill. There will be a graveside service today at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are all present and former Rotarians. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rotary International, c/o Rotary Club of Panama City-Northside, P.O. Box 16544 Panama City, FL 32406. The family will be staying at the residence of Ken Bucher, 1205 Massachusetts Ave., in Lynn Haven.

ALMA LOUISE FLEMING
Mrs. Alma Louise Fleming, 78, of 1107 Parker Drive, Panama City, died Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2000 at the Sterling House. Mrs. Fleming had been a resident of Bay County since 1958, coming here from Clarksburg, W.Va. She was a licensed practical nurse for 17 years at Bay Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of the first practical nursing class of Bay County in 1959. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church where she and her late husband designed banners and signs, a former member of the 7th Street Square Dance Club and other square dance groups, and a former member of the Fun and Frolic Group of Lynn Haven. Mrs. Fleming was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph Fleming. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jean Tucker and husband Thomas, of Panama City and Mrs. Marcia Kendrick and husband Richard of Syracuse, N.Y.; one son, Mr. James Fleming and wife Helen of Hillsboro, W.Va.; six grandchildren: Thomas Tucker, of Chicago, Ill., Dr. Liesel Tucker of Birmingham, Ala., Benjamin Kendrick, Hope Kendrick and Timothy Kendrick, all of Syracuse, N.Y., and Suzy Meadows and husband James of Lewisburg, W.Va.; and three great-grandchildren: Katie Meadows, Emily Meadows and Ethan Meadows, all of Lewisburg, W.Va. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 at the newly relocated Messiah Lutheran Church at the corner of 5th and Mercer with Pastor Dennis Schmidt officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will receive friends at the home of Jean Tucker, 939 W. Caroline Blvd., Panama City, from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 6. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church building fund in memory of Mrs. Alma Louise Fleming. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff and residents of the Sterling House of Panama City.

ESTEL NEAL CRIDER
Mr. Estel Neal Crider, 79, of Callaway died Friday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2000 at his home. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he moved here in 1984 from Hialeah. He was a retired truck driver from the Teamster's Union. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Panama City and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Crider is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Crider. He is survived by two sons, Daniel Crider and wife Dorothy of Cincinnati, Ohio, Daryl Crider and wife Pam of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Patricia Ellis and husband Jim of Cincinnati, Ohio, Paula Crider of Inverness; two stepsons, Scott Starling and wife Debbie of Nashville, Tenn., Bruce Starling and wife Cathy of Panama City; two sisters, Bertha Stanton of Mainville, Ohio and Wanita Hayden of Detroit, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at 10 a.m. in the First Pentecostal church with the Rev. Allen Crabtree officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

DANIEL QUITMAN HUTCHISON SR.
Daniel Quitman Hutchison Sr., 81, of 1111 W. 9th St., Panama City, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 in his home. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1941, moving from Dothan, Ala. He retired in 1984 after 43 years as the parts manager for Nelson Buick Company. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1936 and attended Gulf Coast College. He was the past president of the Panama Grammar PTA, served in the Florida State Guard during World War II, was past president of the Panama City Lions Club and was a member of the Panama Country Club. He was a deacon and church treasurer of the First Baptist Church of Panama City for 34 years. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Hallford Hutchison of Panama City; son, Dan Hutchison Jr., and wife Linda, of Tallahassee; daughter, Barbara Hutchison Gorman, of Chipley; two grandchildren, Dan Hutchison III and wife Janet, of Tallahassee, Sheri McArthur and husband Gayle, of Apopka; a great grandson, Christopher Hutchison, of Tallahassee; and a brother, Phil Hutchison and wife Jay, of Marianna. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Conner and the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church or Hospice of Bay Medical Center in memory of Dan Hutchison.

CLEO CLYDE LUNSFORD
Cleo Clyde Lunsford, 82, of Panama City, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 in a local nursing home. He owned and operated the Beach Campgrounds for many years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been a resident of Panama City for 48 years moving here from Deland. He is survived by his wife, Aline Lunsford, of Panama City; two daughters, Dena Kelly of Lynn Haven and Clemaline Wood of Deland; four grandchildren: Mitch Kelly and wife Sondra of Panama City, Suzanne Reader and husband William, Julian Wood and wife Kim, Jason Wood and wife Virginia, all of Deland; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verlie Smith and husband Wade, and Ruth Caswell, all of Panama City; a brother, Leon Lunsford of Defuniak Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Edward Britton officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the St. Andrew United Methodist Church in memory of Clyde Lunsford. Honorary pallbearers are Luther Moore, Mike Moore and Jim Turner.

MAYZA HALL PENEWITT
A memorial service for Mayza Hall Penewitt, 95, of Panama City, who died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 in a local nursing home will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to their favorite charity or the Salvation Army in memory of Mayza Penewitt.

LORA IRENE RAMSEY
Lora Irene Ramsey, 85, of St. Joe Beach, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 in Gulf Pines Hospital. She was a Florida native, born in Calhoun County and had been a resident of Gulf County since 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church. She is the daughter of the late Walter Samuel Newsome and Clara Bertha Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Ramsey and a son, Vernon L. Ramsey. She is survived by two sons, Houston E. and wife Francis L. Ramsey, Preston D. and wife Sharon F. Ramsey, both of Port St. Joe; three sisters: Ruby Watford, Hazel Bridwell and Ruth Blackburn; two brothers, J.W. and Riley Sapp all of Pensacola; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. EST in the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Dave Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Holly Hill Cemetery.

TRUDIE M. SCHMID
Mrs. Trudie M. Schmid, 79, of 6510 Azalea St., Panama City, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area since 1958, coming here from Gadsden, Tenn. Mrs. Schmid was a member of the Howard's Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James R. Schmid of Bayou George; daughters, Joan Whitaker of Germantown, Tenn., and Paula Hayden of Lynn Haven; sons, Barry Hutchinson of Youngstown, and Michael Hutchinson of Panama City; step-daughters: Irene Domico and Sandra Keethler, both of Panama City, Margaret Hudnall of Red Bluff, Calif., and Janice Phillips of Austin, Texas; stepsons, Joseph Courtney and Harold Courtney, both of Panama City; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Otis Mann officiating. Interment will follow at Bayou George Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 6, 2000 from 6 to 8 p.m.

J. CLAYTON BALES
J. Clayton Bales, 81, of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 5, 2000, after an extended illness. Born in Albany, Ga., on May 4, 1918, he had been a resident of Bay County for the past 24 years moving here from Atlanta, Ga. He was a home building contractor and a retired Colonel from the Army Reserve, having served during World War II. Mr. Bales was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary C. Bales of Panama City; three daughters and their husbands: Betty and Robert Arehart of Virginia Beach, Va., Peggy and Neil Daniels of Houston, Texas, Judy and John Belcher of Panama City Beach; five grandchildren: Alan Arehart and wife Robin, Laura Arehart, Mark Daniels and wife Mary, Kim Derry and husband Toby, Beth Belcher; four great-grandchildren: Jennifer Moore, Cynthia Daniels, Meagan Derry and Mitchell Derry; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. Those who wish may make a contribution to their favorite charity or Bay Medical Center Hospice in memory of Clayton Bales.

LOUIS C. DELL JR.
Mr. Louis C. Dell Jr., 73, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at his home. He moved to Panama City Beach in 1996 from Marietta, Ga., and was Presbyterian by faith. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy, was a 50-year Mason and was the president of the Moonspinner Homeowners Association. Mr. Dell was the retired president of Frosty Acres Frozen Foods in Norcross, Ga., dealing with a $400 million controlled label corporation in food and non-food products produced under various labels by 50-plus manufacturers, processors, canneries and freezers worldwide. Products acquired were marketed worldwide by U.S. and foreign companies, including Mitsui of Japan. His overseas experience included dealing with users, suppliers, government officials in Israel, Ireland, Spain, England, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Central America and the Caribbean rim. Mr. Dell worked closely with the Department of Commerce and the Department of Agriculture. He served two terms in the Agriculture Caribbean Basin initiative, which was fostered by President Reagan. Mr. Dell is survived by one son, John Dell, and wife Norma Jean of Novi, Mich.; one daughter, Janice Wharton of Marietta, Ga.; one brother, Barney Rummel of Pittsburgh, Penn.; two grandchildren, Garrett and Hunter Dell, both of Novi, Mich. Funeral services will be conducted at Georgia Memorial Park/ Winkenhofer Chapel on Friday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. with Maj. Donald Wilson, U.S.A.F. and Lt. Col. Robert Wilson, U.S.A.F. retired officiating.
