Affectionately known to his many friends as Bill, he had been a permanent resident of Panama City Beach for six years, having been a seasonal resident for several years. He was formerly of Joliet, Ill., where he received his schooling and spent his working career. Bill was a member of the Hombre Golf Club, being an avid golfer since a young man. During his childhood his family lived on the golf course. Bill was an active member of Noah's Ark Beach Ministries for many years, having been recognized for his volunteer services there. Bill was baptized into the Lutheran Church as a baby and was confirmed as a young boy. The family always joked about his older sister escorting him to confirmation classes, being concerned about his paying attention. This same sister was Bill's mentor while a young boy, as he lost his mother at a very young age. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters and a brother. Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn C. Brookman of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Sue Hileman and husband Dan of Channahon, Ill., and Jo Ann Gilbert and husband Roger of Yorkville, Ill.; three stepsons: Ron S.
