Alma Jean Patterson, 49, of 904 Cone Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at her home. She was a lifelong native of Panama City. She attended Rosenwald High School. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Nicole H. Patterson; one son, James D. Patterson both of Panama City; a devoted companion, L.B. Reynolds; four sisters: Mrs. Betty (Jerry) Gaines of Panama City, Mrs. Shirley Tyler (Larry) of Randallstow, Md., Ms. Evon Patterson, Mrs. Tina Reynolds (Barry) both of Panama City; five brothers: Mr. Nathaniel Wilson, Mr. Junior Patterson, Mr. Charles Patterson, Mr. Robert (Marilyn) Patterson, Mr. Danny Patterson, all of Panama City; four uncles: Mr. Woodrow Anderson (Pauline) of Kalamazoo, Mich., Mr. Alfred Thomas (Eddie Levert) of New York, N.Y., Mr. Richard Thomas, Mr. Buster (Ruth) Thomas, both of Panama City; two aunts, Mrs. Luverne Hoyle (James) of Benton Harbor, Mich., Ms. Bertha Gainer of Panama City; a host of nephews, nieces, cousin, friends, great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Alma Patterson will be held Thursday, March 2 at 1 p.m. in Zion Hope Baptist Church, 1520 Louisiana Ave., with the Rev. Frank Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home today from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

MICHELE POTTER
Mrs. Michele Potter of Panama City, Fla., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. She was a native of Hawaii, moving to Panama City in 1950. Mrs. Potter was a faithful Jehovah's Witness. She is survived by her husband, Sherwood Potter of Panama City; sons, James Mace and John Mace and his wife Bonnie, all of Panama City; a daughter, Rachel Mace of Panama City; Mother, Lucille Patrum and her husband Max of North Carolina; brothers, Allen Poe of North Carolina and Steve Henderson and his wife Laura of Panama City; loving friends, Grace Rowlands and Dorothy Merritt; and numerous relatives in Hawaii and Panama City. She was preceded in death by her father, J. D. Henderson and his loving wife, Dorothy Sue Henderson. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, March 11 at King Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on 19th Street.

NORMA E. 'VERA' WATSON
Mrs. Norma E. "Vera" Watson, 83, of Panama City, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Aldridge, Ala., she moved here in 1994 from Birmingham, Ala. and was a homemaker. Mrs. Watson is preceded in death by her husband, A.R. "Ed" Watson. She is survived by one daughter, Norma Cox and husband Bob; one grandchild, Douglas A. Holcombe all of Panama City. Funeral services will be held today, March 1 at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Starling officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to funeral service.

GEORGE ALVIN COPE
George Alvin Cope, 39, of Panama City Beach, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. George was president of Northwest Florida Air Condition and Appliance Service, Inc., a company he started from nothing and built into a viable air condition service company. He was predeceased by his father, George A. Cope. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Cope; mother, Zelma Cope; sister, Stephanie O'Reilly; daughter, Angel Cope and four sons: Jeremy Cope, Aaron Cope, Troy Cope and Richard Cope. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all his friends and associates. Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2000, at Keystone United Methodist Church in Odessa, Fla., from 12 noon until 2 p.m. EST with services to follow immediately after. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hankins officiating.

DORIS FELIXINE 'COUTO' DAVIDSON
Mrs. Doris Felixine (Couto) Davidson, 75, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000 at her residence. Born in Springfield, Mass., she moved here in 1970 from Montgomery, Ala. She was retired from civil service as an accountant and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Daughters of the Nile. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 4 at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Father Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m.

HARRY SHAHEEN DEEN
Mr. Harry Shaheen Deen of 819 Huntingdon Road, Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at a local hospital. He was born in Mahtarah, Lebanon, on April 5, 1909, and is of the Druze faith. He came to the United States when he was three years old. He has been a resident of the area since 1970, coming here from St. Paul, Va. Mr. Deen was a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple in Roanoke, Va. He was a devoted family man, and loving father, and lived by the golden rule. Mr. Deen is survived by his wife, Adele R. Deen; four daughters: Nadia D. Gorman, L. Adele Leslie and her husband Robert H. Leslie Amelia D. Brown and her husband C. Lynn Brown, and Ada Afaf Yorde; three sons: Kemal Harry Deen and his wife Maj, the Rev. Omar T. Deen and his wife Sandra, and Fred Fareed Deen; 16 grandchildren: Adele el Yorde, Said Yorde, Leila el Yorde, Aida Yorde, Jeffrey Duane Deen, Thomas Fred "Dino" Deen, Freddy Deen, Delilah Dennis, Mary Adele Weiss, Thomas Omar Deen, Amelia Nazeera Deen, Norman Leslie, Kemal Leslie, Tyrone Leslie, Stella Braham, and Robert H. Leslie Jr.; and twenty three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home today, March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his physician Dr. Marwan Obid, who was more than a doctor, a loving friend. ALBERTA W. 'BERTHA' ANDERSON
Mrs. Alberta W. Anderson, 92, of 519 East 13th Street died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, in Gulf Coast Medical Center. Mrs. Alberta Anderson, after being born to her proud parents in Fayetteville, N.C., moved to Panama City and at the sunrise of her youth she invited the Lord Jesus Christ into her heart to live forever and He saved and filled her with His holy spirit. She united with Macedonia Baptist Church under the Pastorage of the Rev. W.J. Johnson and later moved her membership at Greater Friendship Baptist Church under the Rev. W.M. Sutton leadership, where she remained until her death. She met and married Mr. Willie L. Anderson Sr. and to this union eight children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: James Edward (Louise) Shanks of Chicago, Ill., Willie L. (Christine) Anderson of Tampa, Dexter (Tammy) Anderson of Panama City; one daughter who preceded her in death, Willie T. Anderson; four daughters: Mrs. Cathryn Burroughs of Miami, Minister Meriam R. Newsome, Mrs. Barbara (Robert) Duren of Panama City, Mrs. Dannie (Minister John) Dukes of Warner Robins; sixteen grandchildren: John Burroughs III, Reginald (Nora) Burroughs, Samuel Burroughs of Miami, James (Elaine) Shanks Jr., Cynthia Shanks, Joseph A. Shanks, Laticia (Nathaniel) Palm all of Chicago, Ill., Ronald A. Newsome of Orlando, Sgt. Roderick Speights of Maxwell AFB, Rodney (Greta) Speights, Farrell Speights both of Tampa, Darrell Speights of Panama City, Sgt. Eric (Keshia) Duren, SuiSan of Korea, Kevin (Julie) Duren of Panama City; two grandchildren preceded her in death, David Burroughs of Miami and Toni Shanks of Chicago; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; three godchildren: Cassandra Porter of Atlanta, Willanda Woodard of Rhode Island, Gary Spriggs of Panama City; three sisters-in-law: Ruth Mayo of Louisville, Ga., Evelyn McNeil of Panama City, Marene McNeil of Miami and a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson will be held Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m. in Greater Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Newton officiating and Dr. Rory L. Bedford presiding. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Minister Meriam R. Newsome of 4000 E. 7th Circle.

THOMAS FRANKLIN BYNUM
Thomas Franklin Bynum, age 29, died peacefully at home on March 1, 2000. He was born in Panama City and attended Cove Elementary School, Lyman Ward military School and Devereaux in Devon, Pa. He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Sikes; his father and step-mother, John Franklin Bynum and Doris Bynum; his brother, John H. Bynum and wife, Martha; sister, Amy Emery; brother, James Carl Bynum and wife, Valerie; nieces and nephews: John Gray Bynum, James Wells Lowrey, Ashley Lowrey, Peyton Porter, Nicole Bynum, Jessee Porter, Phillip Porter and Benjamin Emery. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Hubert H. and Rosalie F. Sikes; and his sister, Rosalyn Sikes Bynum Lowrey. The family would like to extend special thanks to Tracy Pinson, Chris Bradley and Shannon Houseman, who provided loving care. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2000, at 5 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with Monsignor Crowe and the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating, with a eulogy given by Julian Bennett. Pallbearers will be David Arnold, Robert Arnold, Ben Redding, Julian Bennett, Dwight Rudolph, Frank Sullivan, Steve Wilson, Steve Wilson III, Gene Kyser, Bill Norvel, Dr. Donald Anderson, Warren Middlemas and Ron Clark. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Hospice of N.W. Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Thomas Bynum. The family will receive friends following the service at 206 Hollis Ave., Panama City, FL 32401. Thomas will be dearly missed.
