ROBERT F. CUMBIE
Mr. Robert F. Cumbie, 79, of Fountain, Fla., died early Wednesday morning, March 8, 2000, at his residence. Born in Dade County, Fla., he was a lifelong resident of Bay County. He retired after 38 years of federal service with the Army Corps of Engineers as a welder and the Navy Base in the security force. He was a member of Caverns Road Church of Christ and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant with the 168th Infantry. He received the American Theatre Service Medal, EAME with two Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He is survived by his wife, Vera Cumbie of Fountain, Fla.; one son, Robert Paul Cumbie of Panama City; one daughter, Rebecca McKinney of Fountain; three grandchildren: Catrina McKinney, Nathan McKinney and wife Tiffany and Jessica Cumbie; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne McKinney and Sierra McKinnery. Funeral services will be conducted today, March 9 at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Ben Wiles officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Cemetery. military honors will be accorded at graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service.

DORIS H. OGREN
Mrs. Doris H. Ogren, age 88, of 3014 Lanny Lane, Panama City, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1980, moving here from Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Ogren enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan, the Chicago Cubs being her favorite team. She also enjoyed boating, dancing, playing cards, and attended Forest Park United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ogren is survived by her husband, Gene Ogren of Panama City; two sons, James Howard Ogren and his wife Louise of Brooksville, Fla., and Thomas Eugene Ogren and his wife Cathy of Shrewsburg, Mass.; a daughter, Barbara Firszt and her husband Anthony of Lady Lakes, Fla.; grandchildren: Steven, Vicky, Susan, Pam, Jim, Linda, Richard, and Beth; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 10 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Jim Ogren, Tom Ogren, Tony Firszt, Huey Chisholm, and Lee Cox. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, today., March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Foundation at Bay Medical Center, 615 N. Bonita Ave., Panama City, FL 32401.

WILLIAM HARRY RILEY
William Harry Riley, 70, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1980. He was a retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of East Bay Rotary Club and Air Force Officers Association. He is survived by his wife, Irma Riley of Panama City Beach; son, Commander John Wallace Riley III, Commanding Officer of the USS Curts (FFG 38) and his wife Maria Pilar of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Kim L. Conroy and her husband, Robert of Tallahassee; grandson, William Travis Riley; granddaughter, Cristina Nicole Riley; three step-children: Jack B. Hall of Pace, Fla., Sandra Hall VerCrouse and her husband, Gary of Milton, Fla., Roxanna D. Anderson of Blountstown; three step-grandchildren: Jonathan Hall VerCrouse, Jodie Roxanne Dalton, Jessie Lee Hall; and brother, Robert Courtney Riley and his wife Madelyn of Sun City, Ariz. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Those desiring to may make contributions to East Bay Rotary Club in memory of William Riley.

NEIL G. DAY
Mr. Neil G. Day, age 81, of 2858 Harrison Ave., Apt. B , Panama City, Fla., died Monday, March 6, 2000 at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1984, coming here from Longview, Texas. Mr. Day served in the National Guard and was a sales executive for United States Steel. He was a member of Christian Church of Panama City, was Associate State Coordinator for Committee Operations for AARP, lifetime member of Elks Lodge, on the Prime 55 Advisory Board at Peoples First. He was also on the State Board of the Council on Aging, Bay Med Plus Advisory Board, an honorary member of the Bay County Sheriff's Association, and had 14 years been a member of the Lynn Haven Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Myrtle Day of Panama City; daughters: Rita Maxine-Day Jungman of Chattahoochee, Fla., Ruthanne Thompson and her husband Stephen of Crawfordsville, Ind., Linda Jo Kamoji and her husband Dan of Bloomington, Ind., and Susan Diane Parr and her husband Rolf of Georgetown, Ind.; a son, John Nelson Day and his wife Karen of Clarkson, Ky.; a brother, William "Bill" Day and his wife Donna of Panama City Beach; stepdaughter, Linda Sherrell and her husband Dean of Panama City Beach; stepsons, Wilson Hair of Lynn Haven and Roger Hair of Panama City Beach; 13 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. K.J. Starzinger and the Rev. Clarence Hand officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Scott Jungman, Todd Thompson, David Thompson, Kevin Parr, Kyle Parr, Darren Jensen and David Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will include the Lynn Haven Rotary Club and the B.P.O.E. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

STEPHEN 'STEVE' WAYNE RIGDON
Mr. Stephen "Steve" Wayne Rigdon, age 49, of 1023 Canning Drive, Wewahitchka, Fla., died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at a local hospital. He had been a lifetime resident of the area and was Presbyterian by faith. Mr. Rigdon served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and also worked for the Coastal Systems Station. He was a member of the NRA and loved the outdoors. Mr. Rigdon is survived by his wife, Kathryn "Cathi" Rigdon of Wewahitchka, Fla.; a daughter, Amy Ivey and her husband James of Allanton, Fla.; a son, William Rigdon of Allanton; his father, Cecil Rigdon of Callaway, Fla.; a grandson, Kyle Ivey of Allanton; a granddaughter, Lacey Ivey of Allanton; a sister, Nanisa Owen and her husband Mike of Callaway; a brother, Ross Rigdon and his wife Sherry of Union, Miss.; nieces, Michelle Messick and Kaitlyn Rigdon, both of Panama City; and a nephew, Luke Owen of Callaway. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Rigdon. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today, March 8, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Callaway Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Wendell Cox, Johnny Kirkland, Antony SanFelippe, Jason Pate, Byron Yancey, Tom Reynolds, Kelly Johnson, Jack McKeithen, Rick Lambert and Ray Dunn. RODNEY ALLEN RUSS
Rodney Allen Russ, 55, of Marianna, Fla., died March 7, 2000 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee. He was born in Shallotte, N.C., and had lived in Jackson County for most of his life. He was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 3 and a member of York Rite Bodies and of the Shaddai Temple. He was retired as a beverage agent lieutenant with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation after 29 years of service. He served two years with the Bay County Sheriffs Department. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernice Allen Russ. He is survived by his wife, Sharieta Mitchell Russ; one son, Mitchell Allen Russ; one daughter, Alanna Marie Russ, all of Marianna; his mother, Lucille Russ of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; one brother, Martin Lowell Russ of Panama City; two sisters, Diet Harmon of Norfolk, Va., and Shirley Gore of Wilmington, N.C.; his father and mother-in-law, Judson and Sara Mitchell of Marianna. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. CST Thursday, March 9, at Maddox Chapel in Marianna with the Rev. Perry Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna with James & James Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 CST at Maddox Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing may make memorial contributions to a favorite charity.

RUBY B. WARE
Ruby B. Ware, 67, of Panama City, Fla., left to finish her journey on March 6, 2000. She left behind her children and grandchildren, three sons: Charles Michael Dockery and wife Linda of Seattle, Wa., Timothy L. Doss and wife Kathryn of Lynn Haven, Jeffrey Lynn Doss and wife Molly of Monroeville, Ohio; grandchildren: Michael Dockery, Maggie Dockery, Timothy L. Doss Jr. and wife Allison, Abigail Doss, Dylan Doss, Gina Doss and Jude Doss; great-grandson, Austin Dockery; and a special friend, Brenda Morris. She also leaves behind many friends of Bill W. Memorialization will be by cremation and remember to have a good day if you wish too. There will be a meeting of the friends of Bill W.'s. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, March 9, at 6 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel.

LAURENCE DEAN ALFORD
Mr. Laurence Dean Alford, 43, of 600 E. 8th Court died Feb. 29, 2000, in a Perry, Fla., hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City and attended the public schools of Bay County, He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Thomas and Ara Lee Alford II, and his twin sister, Leslie Kay Alford. He is survived by his wife, Freddie Mae Alford of Panama City; nine brothers: Earthell Alford (Yvonne), Joe Thomas Alford III and Robert Lee Alford (Grace), all of Panama City, Donald E. Alford of Maryland, Danny L. Alford (Stephanie) of California, Darrell Q. Alford of Bonifay, Albert Alford of Blountstown, Mark P. Alford and John E. Alford both of Oklahoma; four sisters: Shirley A. Jackson (L.C.) and Danna Slappey (Robert) both of Starut, Fla., Sharon A. Dempsey (Henry) and Melanie Alford (James) both of Panama City; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Alford will be held Saturday March 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. in St. Temple Church with Elder Emmanuel Dempsey, Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will repose at the Church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state at the Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Sharon and Henry Dempsey 213 N. Kimbrel Ave. Trailer Court Lot-8.

JOHN HENRY BOOKHART
Mr. John Henry Bookhart, 107, of 409 School Ave. Lot B-17, died March 3, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a native of Winnsboro, S.C., and a resident of Panama City for a number of years. Mr. Bookhart confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church and later joined Fellowship Baptist Church in South Carolina where he was an active and faithful member until moving to Panama City. After moving here he attended Redemption Lutheran Church until his health failed. He was educated in Rickland County Public Schools. He was a painter for many years in Rickland County where he retired. He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Daniel Bookhart; sister, Arelia Shell; and a brother, the Rev. Willie Bookhart. He is survived by two daughters, Julia Willis of Panama City, and Harriet Cater (Floyd) of Valdosta, Ga.; two sons, Robert Napoleon Bookhart of Washington D.C., and John Marion Bookhart of New Jersey; sister, Gertrude Epps of Philadelphia, Pa.; a devoted granddaughter, Rebecca Brown (Lorenso) of Panama City; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Bookhart will be held Saturday, March 11 at 2:30p.m. in Redemption Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward Myers, Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state on Saturday at the Church from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Rebecca and Lorenso Brown, 409 School Ave. Lot B-17.
