Mrs. Margaret Estes, age 65, of 141 Kraft Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, March 25 in Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Millville Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, March 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.

JOE FONTAINE
Mrs. Joe Fontaine, 63, of Mexico Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in Bay medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Montgomery, Ala., he had been a resident here since 1971. He retired from Bell South in 1997 after 37 years. He was a dedicated blood donor having donated over 13 gallons in his lifetime. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served three years in Japan. He lived a very joyful and fulfilling life getting the most out of every day. He never met a stranger and there wasn't a soul that he would not help. Mr. Fontaine is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Fontaine of Mexico Beach, Fla.; sons, Joey Fontaine and his wife Becky of Pearl, Miss., Lee Fontaine and his wife Debbie of Dalkeith; daughter, Dawn Fontaine of Mexico Beach; three grandchildren: Lindsey and Trey Fontaine of Pearl, Miss., Bailee Fontaine of Dalkeith; brothers, Ben Fontaine of Lexington, Ky., Winston Fontaine of Pensacola, Fred Fontaine of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Martha Cook of Wetumpka, Ala., Ruth Merkal of Montgomery, Sara Jo Bagley Of Eclectic, Ala., Florine Knapp of Millbrook, Ala., and Betty Bair of York, Pa.; and many friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted today, March 24, at 11 a.m. EST in First United Methodist Church of Port St. Joe. Interment will follow in Holly Hills Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Frasier Myers, Brad Williams, Tom Nolan, George Hunter, Danny Faircloth, Bud Holcomb, Johnny Fortner, Delano Suggs. Honorary pallbearers will be: Ted Walker, Wendell Holley, Harold Davis, Ray Lewis, Jim Diets, Tommy Pitts, Mike Smith, and all past and present employees of Bell South.

HORACE H. FOUNTAIN
Mr. Horace H. Fountain, age 88, of 621 Maine Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at a local nursing facility. He had been a resident of the area for 65 years, coming here from Graceville, Fla. Mr. Fountain retired as the Supervisor of the Water Dept. for the City of Panama City after 30 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God and was a good Christian man who loved people. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Fountain of Panama City; a daughter, Shirley Zacchio of Panama City; two sons, Joe Donald Fountain and his wife Joie of Rockledge, Fla., and Horace Edwin Fountain of Panama City; a brother, "Bill" Fountain and his wife Snooks of Graceville, Fla.; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Phil Edwards and the Rev. Hilton Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Tony Zacchio, Keith Fountain, Chris Barnett, Jim Barnett, Frederick Kolmetz, and Homer Cutchen. Honorary pallbearers will include the Men's Bible Class of First Assembly of God. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.

SHIRLEY T. HICKS
Mrs. Shirley T. Hicks, 64, of Port St. Joe, passed away Wednesday night, March 22, 2000 in Panama City. A native of Bayou la Batre, Ala., she had been a resident here for the past 45 years and was a member of Highland View Baptist Church. Mrs. Hicks was an accountant. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Hicks of Port St. Joe; her children: Robert J. Hicks of Oklahoma City, Okla., Cindy Lee Whatlev of Auburndale, Aaron L. Whitfield of Port St. Joe, and Heidi L. Taylor of Port St. Joe; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four brothers: Irvin Earl Tapper of Grand Bay, Ala., J. T. Tapper of Mobile, Ala., Kimmy Kent Tapper of St. Louis, Mo., and Michael Rav Tapper of Grand Bav. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by a son, a grandson and her parents. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.. EST Saturday, March 25 at Highland View Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Judson Waldrop, the Rev. Charles Scott and the Rev. David Nichols. Interment will follow in the family plot in Holly Hill Cemetery. She will lie in state at the Comforter Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, and at the church on Saturday for an hour prior to the funeral. Those that wish may make donations to the Highland View Baptist Church.

JULIA IDELL PENNINGTON
Mrs. Julia Idell Pennington, age 81, of 6525 Winona St., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area for 40 years, coming here from Clayton, Ala., and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Pennington enjoyed deep sea fishing, raising her family and was a vegetable gardener. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Price and her husband Ronald of Panama City; sons, Edward Dean of Panama City and Jason Dean and his wife Donna of Callaway; sisters: Rehta Smith of Callaway, Ozell Williams and Berdell Cooper, both of Clayton, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Preston and a son, Ladon Dean. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, March 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Roy Leon Roberts, 79, of Parker, Fla., who died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in a local hospital will be held today at 3 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Keith and the Rev. Donald Pickerill officiating. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery with masonic rites to be conducted at the graveside. The family will be at the home of Sherrie and Tommie Pitts, 1102 E. Park St., Parker, Fla. The Parker Masonic Lodge will be open one hour prior to the service. Those desiring to may make a contribution to your favorite charity in memory of Roy Roberts. JOSEPH F. WHITLEY SR.
Mr. Joseph F. Whitley Sr., age 72, of 5003 Highpoint Dr., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He had been a resident of the area since 1975. Mr. Whitley served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, loved the outdoors, and was an avid reader. Mr. Whitley especially enjoyed taking his four-year-old grandson, Brandon, fishing with him. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Whitley of Panama City; a daughter, Telisa Davis and her husband Scott of Panama City; a son, Jody Whitley and his wife Sherrie of Panama City; a sister, Doris Knoles and her husband Bob of Fort Myers, Fla.; and his fishing buddy and grandson, Brandon Davis of Panama City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 25 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Horace Vernon Wilson, age 50, of 1312 Stephens Dr., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at his home. He was the owner and operator of Wilson's Carpets for 20 years and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Wilson is survived by a son, Vernon Eugene Wilson of Panama City; Father, Thomas F. Wilson Sr. of Panama City; five brothers: Robert A. Wilson and his wife Mary of Panama City, Thomas F. Wilson Jr. of Wewahitchka, Otis Braxton and his wife Betsy and Anthony Ray Wilson, both of Fort Myers, Fla., and Ronald Lee Wilson of Panama City; four sisters: Shirley Eileen Davis and her husband Mike, Cynthia Jane Brown and her husband Rupert, Regina Lynn McCabe, and Stacy Ann Hammock, all of Panama City; three uncles: Horace Vernon Wilson and his wife Ethel of Glen Burnie, Md., Seabuh Manoogian and his wife Frances of Ocala, Fla., and Ross Manoogian of Abbeyville, N.Y.; seven nephews; nine nieces; three great-nephews; and four great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Faye Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Melvin and the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Charles Kent, Micky King, Larry Wayne Adams, J. D. LUCY MAE BARRY
Mrs. Lucy Mae Barry, 94, of 1406 Deer Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, March 23, 2000 in a local hospital. Born in Blackwell, Pa., she moved here in 1945 and was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Mrs. Barry is preceded in death by her husband, Pat Barry. She is survived by two sons, Alvin R. Barry and wife Barbara of Panama City, Robert P. Barry and wife Raynell of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren: Alan R. Barry, Gregory M. Barry and very special granddaughter-in-law, Pam all of Panama City, Diane Carr and husband Ted of New Orleans, La., and Donna Barry of Salt Lake City, Utah; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Britton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will be staying at the home of Mrs. Barry's grandson, Gregory M. Barry and wife Pam, 1418 Lake Ave., St. Andrews.

Memorial services for Retha Holland Brannon, 50, of Baker, Fla., who passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2000 will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on State 77 in Lynn Haven today, March 25, at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Holland. Survivors include husband, Kavin Brannon; stepchildren, Stephanie Brannon and Bryan Brannon; mother, Jennie Holland; brothers and sisters: Willard Holland, Nathan Holland, Renece Conkin, Mike Holland, Jennifer O'Neil and Will Holland.
