JEFF DYKES
Mr. Jeff Dykes, 82, of Port St. Joe, passed away Friday night, March 24, 2000, in Bay Medical Center, following a brief illness. A native of Greenhead, he had been a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a highly decorated veteran of World War II. He was a member of the John C. Gainous VFW Post No. 10069. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Watson and husband Raymond of Port St. Joe; a son, Gene Dykes and wife Kay of Port St. Joe; a daughter, Debra Stallings and husband Spike of Panama City; a daughter, Peggy Harris and husband Scott of Panama City; a son, Terry Dykes of Port St. Joe; two brothers, Josh Dykes and Jim Dykes, both of Apalachicola; a sister, Boncile Lanzburger of California; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Dykes, two sisters and three brothers. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EST Monday at the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church, conducted by the Rev. Dave Fernandez and the Rev. Tim Bailey. Interment will follow in the family plot in Holly Hill Cemetery. He will lie in state at the Comforter Funeral Home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. EST.

EDNA BERNICE BULLOCK
Mrs. Edna Bernice Bullock, 74, of 2300 Sherman Ave., Cedar Grove, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of the area for 65 years, coming here from Dothan, Ala. Mrs. Bullock was a member of the Springfield Community Church and the Wal-Mart Coffee Club. She loved to shop and loved people, never met a stranger. Mrs. Bullock is survived by her husband, James C. Bullock of Cedar Grove; two daughters, Jane Johnson and her husband Larry of Callaway, and Dianne Emond and her husband Yves of Foster City, Calif.; grandchildren, J. Michael Johnson of Callaway, Dee Dee Emond and Ralph Emond, both of Foster City, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Larry Johnson, Michael Johnson, Billy Rogers, Calvin Cleghorn, David Brattin and Albert Burkey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. today, March 26, 2000. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association, P.O. BERTIE MAE BARNES
Mrs. Bertie Mae Barnes, 68, of 4915 N. Lakewood Drive in Parker passed away on Saturday, March 25, at a local hospital. Mrs. Barnes has been a resident of Bay County since 1940 after coming here from Decatur County, Ga. She was an assistant office manager for Black Insurance Agency. She was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, was a member of the Presbyterian Women, and was a former clerk of the session. She enjoyed music. Mrs. Barnes is survived by a son, Gregory S. Barnes of Panama City; brother, Roy O'Neal and his wife Abbie of Panama City; two grandsons, Gregory Allen Barnes and Scott Thomas Barnes, both of Raiford, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Lamar Barnes. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, at the Parkway Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stacy D. Wells and the Rev. J. Reid Cameron officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Art Morden, John Robert Middlemas, Rob Middlemas, Jerry Halstead, Warren Middlemas III and Tommy Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be: Joe Cockrell, Marvin Dixon, Warren Middlemas Jr., George Bauman, Harvey Hartsell, Jimmy Yarbor, Mike Gilbert, Gerald Gilbert, Jimmy Gilbert and Walter Krobetzky. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 27. Those desiring to may make contributions in Bertie's memory to the Parkway Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.

MARGARET K. BLAKE
Mrs. Margaret K. Blake, 87, of 119 Gayle Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Dothan, Ala., she moved here in the mid 1970's from Albany, Ga., and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Blake is survived by her sister, Eunice P. Faile of Panama City; nieces, Beth Kingry and Ann Alsobrook of Lafayette, Ala.; nephews, Desso "Bubba" Faile Jr. of Panama City and Joe Kingry of Dothan; great-nephews, Bradley Shea Faile and Jason Brent Faile both of Panama City; great-great-niece Maranda Lee Faile and great-great-nephew Logan Richter, all of Panama City. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 29, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Bradley Shea Faile, Jason Brent Faile, Joe Kingry, Nick Daniels, Jim Mincey and Raliegh Doss. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Walter Lee Bowden Sr., 69, of 2204 E. 16th Court, surrounded by his loving family, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2000. Funeral services will be held today, March 28, at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or Emerald Coast Hospice in memory of Mr. Bowden. Active pallbearers are Kevin Pierce, Chris Pierce, Donald Morrison, Michael J. Mathias, David Buzler, and Bob Folds. Honorary pallbearers are David Bowden, Michael P. SIDNEY MORRIS BROWN
Sidney Morris Brown Jr., 77, of St. Augustine, Fla., died March 13, 2000, at the home of his daughter. He was born in Bronwood, Ga., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1957. He was a retired chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy, and he was a veteran of World War II. He served aboard the USS Arkansas during the Normandy invasion and the bombardment of Omaha Beachhead. His naval career also included service on cruisers, destroyers and battleships. He was retired from G&M Trucking and Fuel. He also worked for Burkhardt Distributing as a route salesman. He was a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 98, F&AM, past treasurer of Scottish Rite Bodies, member of Morocco Temple, Jacksonville, and past president of the St. Augustine Shrine Club. He also served as the club's representative to Shriners' Hospitals for Children. He was a member of McDowell Baptist Church. Funeral services were held March 16 at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine. Interment was at Demascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Graceville. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Watford Brown of St. Augustine; a daughter, Sydney Brown Perry and her husband Neil of St. Augustine; one son, W. Harry Glover and his wife Rose of Oak Hill; a sister, Bettie Brown Bradford of Panama City; one brother, Samuel David Brown of Jacksonville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Morris Brown Sr. and Polly Denton Brown, formerly of St. Andrews; and one brother, James Brown. Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Richard Lewis Kresge, age 54, of 7550 Whisperwood Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at his residence. He had been a resident of the area for 12 years. Mr. Kresge served his country in the U.S. Army during 1965-1972. He worked 30 years for the U.S. Civil Service, which took him all over the world. Mr. Kresge is survived by his wife, Mao Kresge of Panama City; his father, Harvey A. Kresge of Singer Island, Fla.; a sister, Loma Nessen and her husband Jerald of Atlanta, Ga.; and a cousin, Evelyn F. Dorsey of Presidio, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m, Wednesday, March 29, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Daniel Nigolian officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, March 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Emerald Coast.

MARTHA FRANCES PADGETT
Martha Frances Padgett, 77, of Panama City, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1980 moving here from Orlando, Fla. She was a member of the St. Andrew Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Drake Padgett. She is survived by two sisters, Estelle Nelson of Lynn Haven, Doris Morgan of Panama City. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Robert L. Layne and Pastor Gene Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Earl Max Scott, 85, of 502 E. 5th Court, Panama City, who died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in a local nursing home, will be held today at 10:30 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Eastside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1846, Panama City, FL 32402 in memory of Max Scott. Active pallbearers are Jamie Warren, Mark Warren, Jonathan Scott, Ed Scott, Scotty Norton, and Barry Adair. G. GORDON SHURTLEFF
Mr. G. Gordon Shurtleff, age 85, of 3134 W. 22nd Street, Panama City, Fla., passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2000. Mr. Shurtleff had been a resident of the area for 58 years, moving here from Clearwater, Fla. He was a Jet Aircraft Inspector at Tyndall Air Force Base for 20 years. He had a B.S. degree in Automotive Engineering from McKinley College, graduating in 1946, after having attended Virginia Episcopal Prep School in Lynchburg, Va. He was an accomplished inventor and was past member of the Bay County Gem Club. He was Episcopal by faith. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Shurtleff of Panama City; sons, Michael Shurtleff and his wife Patricia of Clermont, Fla., Gordon Shurtleff and his wife Patricia of Raleigh, N.C.; a granddaughter, Tracey Lyn Kuhn and her husband John Randolph of Herndon, Va.; a cousin, Mrs. Jane Moylan of Scranton, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29.

ROYAL STEPHENS
Captain Royal Stephens, a resident of Deatsville, Ala., died Friday, March 24, 2000. Graveside services were held Sunday, March 26, 2000, at 2 p.m. from New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Denny Rogers officiating and Ellison Funeral Home directing. Captain Stephens is survived by his wife, Nan Comer Stephens of Deatsville, Ala.; one daughter, Lean Allen of Panama City; two sons, Royal Stephens Jr. of Lynn Haven and Neil J. Stephens of Clinton, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were members of Lightwood Volunteer Fire Department. Captail Royal owned and operated a charter boat service at Captain Anderson's in Panama City for 25 years.
