WOODROW W. GAY
Mr. Woodrow W. 'Woody' Gay, 78, of 2006 W. 14th St. died Saturday April 15, 2000, in his home He was a native of Lake Wales and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was an automobile mechanic and a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Gay of Panama City; two devoted stepdaughters, Rebecca Hill (Charles) and Beauty Hendricks both of Panama City; stepson, Jerome Hamilton of Cleveland, Ohio; granddaughter, Natasha Hill of Panama City; three grandsons, Christopher Hendricks of Panama City, Jermey and Jason Hamilton both of Cleveland, Ohio; a very special friend, Gene Smith; a very special cousin, Lucille Young; friends: Cora Williams, Mildred Grady, Mr. and Mrs. Newxell; godddaughter, Ann Samuel; devoted nieces: Yvonne Starks, Cheryl Williams and Belinda Wright; six sisters- in-law; five brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, five uncles, two aunts and a son-in-law. Funeral services for Mr. Gay will be held Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. in St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Thomas Jr., Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 2006 W. 14th St.

ANNIE BELL (DAVIS) JOHNSON
Mrs. Annie B. Davis Johnson, 79, of Wewahitchka, Fla., died Friday, April 13, 2000, in Sunrise Bay St. Joseph Nursing Center in Port St. Joe. She was a life long resident of Gulf County. She leaves to cherish in loving memories children: Flabell Davis, Ronnie L. Small (Callie), Raymond T. Johnson of Wewahitchka, Mary Beach, Harold W. Small (Marilyn), Diane Small all of Panama City; two adoptive granddaughters, Miss Loretta A. Elders of Panama City and Miss Eunice Holmes of Wewahitchka. She leaves 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Saturday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in St. John Freewill Baptist Church in Wewahitchka with Dr. Willie E. Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery. Public visitation for viewing will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state three hours prior to services at the church.

Memorial services for William David Neville, 36, of Lynn Haven, Fla., who died Monday, April 17, 2000, in his home, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating.

CALVIN NICEWONDER
Mr. Calvin Nicewonder, age 75, of 7752 Shadow Bay Dr., Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at a local hospital. He has been a resident of the area since 1960, coming here from Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Nicewonder enjoyed working in the yard, 3-D puzzles, and reading. He also enjoyed drawing, painting, canoeing, and Civil War history. Mr. Nicewonder was the former owner of Nicewonder Real Estate. He has been a builder in the Panama City area since 1961, building thousands of houses, apartment complexes, and some commercial buildings. Mr. Nicewonder was the former owner of Bay Front Development Co. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Mr. Nicewonder was a member of Callaway United Methodist Church. He was a former City Commissioner of Callaway, member of Parkway Lions Club, and past President of Homebuilders Association. Mr. Nicewonder is survived by his daughters: Linda Arnold and her husband the Rev. David Arnold of New Port Richey, Fla., Judith Shull and her husband Dr. Dean of Winter Haven, Bunny Moses and her husband Everette of Warsaw, Va., Theresa Grissett and her husband Melvin (J.R.) of Panama City, and Kimberly Nicewonder of St. Petersburg; brothers: Curtis Nicewonder of Bluefield, W.Va., C.W. Nicewonder of Panama City, and Willard Nicewonder of Covington, Ky.; sisters: Ruth Atkins of Fountain and Peggy Marsh of California; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Irene Nicewonder; and his second wife, Lucy Nicewonder. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 2 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: David Arnold, Everette Moses, Dr. Dean Shull, Ellis Ball, Melvin Grissett, and Stevie Nicewonder. Honorary pallbearers will include: Ret. Col. James Knisley, Ret. Lt. Col. Dick Beach, and James Thompson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, April 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. Those desiring may make donations to Callaway United Methodist Church , 6619 Hwy. 22, Callaway, Fla. 32404, in honor of Mr. Nicewonder.

EARL R. O'MELIA
Mr. Earl R. O'Melia, 59, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Cranston, R.I., he moved here in 1995 from Gwinn, Mich. He was a retired civil service worker, was a member of American Legion in Lynn Haven and was Catholic by faith. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 24 at 10 a.m. in Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mr. O'Melia.

HAZEL WILLENE TAYLOR
Graveside funeral services for Hazel Willene Taylor, 78, of Panama City, Fla., who died April 15, 2000, in her home will be held today at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Humane Society of Bay County in memory of Hazel Taylor.

EVELYN SEWELL PETTIS
Mrs. Evelyn Sewell Pettis, age 74, of 311 Maine Ave., Panama City, Fla., devoted wife and loving mother, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2000. She loved flowers, working in the yard and fishing with her husband. Mrs. Pettis loved cooking and vacationing with her family. She also loved being with her family and friends. Her favorite color was pink. Mrs. Pettis loved going to church, her pastor and was a Prayer Warrior. She was a member of Springfield Community Church. She took great pride in herself. Mrs. Pettis celebrated her birthday and her anniversary on the day that her husband was hired at the paper mill, July 9, 1946. She was also able to celebrate her husband's birthday before she passed away. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sam Pettis of Panama City; a son, Wayne Pettis and his wife Angie of Panama City; two daughters, Linda Hoskins and her husband Ervin and Carolyn Lord and her husband Bill, all of Panama City; seven grandchildren: David Pettis, Wayne Pettis, Michael Jennings, Michelle Hoskins, Verlean Anglin, Pam Grisset and Renee Mears; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Coates. She was preceded in death by her parents, M.K. Sewell and Cora Sewell; a brother, Roy Sewell; and a sister, Lorene Coon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 23, at Springfield Community Church with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and the Rev. Warren Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: George Outlaw, Gene Ford, Donnie Corbin, John Hall, Lance Lord, Jerry Keith, Gene Wills and Steve Lachina. Honorary pallbearers will be Brother Hunts' Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Saturday, April 22, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Funeral Service for Mr. James D. "Red" Roberts, age 78, of 8822 Jeffery Rd., Southport, Fla., who died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, will be held at 10 a.m. today, April 21, at Kingswood Baptist Church in Southport with the Rev. Joel Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kingswood Baptist Church Building Fund, 9206 Kingswood Rd., Southport, Fla. 32409.

ROBIN ADAIR SMITH
Robin Adair Smith, 69, resident of Vero Beach, Fla., and formerly of Panama City Beach Fla., and Marietta, Ga. died April 15, 2000 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Patricia; his son, Paul; his daughters, Jennifer Farrier and Robyn Smith; and his grandchildren: Eric and Amy Smith, Michael Farrier and Paul "P.J." Smith. Robin had a great love of the water, especially the ocean. He had many different kinds of boats throughout his life-from a 1960 classic "woody" ski boat named "Yesterday" to his favorite 38' cabin cruiser "The Double L". After retirement, while in living in Panama City, Robin and his wife Patricia were very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He attained the highest level of certification and served as an officer. Many a pleasant weekend was spent with his children and grandchildren enjoying boating, water skiing, and fishing. His good friend from Marietta, Ga., Joy Camp, nicknamed him "Hot Dog" because of his legendary water skiing skills. Robin was born Feb. 17, 1931 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to Emily and Ralph Smith. He spent much of his childhood in Vero Beach, Fla. where his stepfather, T. Harvey McMullen was the manager of the airport. His fond childhood memories of Vero Beach brought him back to live out his final days them. Robin served his country in Korea in the Marine Corp. from 1951 to 1953. He and his wife Patricia were high school sweethearts and were married for 48 years. He attended Georgia military Academy and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He retired from Bambi Auto Leasing in 1987. Robin also enjoyed classical music, old classic movies; bird watching; but most of all playing with his precious Westie, Andrew. Robin spent so many of his last days in Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, Fla. Despite his serious illness he was always interested in the lives of those who cared for him, making many friends. After cremation, a brief service was held at Humiston Beach Park, Vero Beach, Fla. where as a young boy he played after school with his dog Spanky. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to NAMI of Florida (National Association of the Mentally Ill) at 1020 East La Fayette St., Suite 102, Tallahassee, Fla. 32301.

HOMER E. BURLINGAME
Homer E. Burlingame, 85, of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in Glencove Nursing Pavilion. Born in Cambridge, Ohio, he moved here in 1950 from Ohio. He was a postal worker and was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Burlingame is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Nancy Burlingame of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Donald Baker of Panama City; three grandchildren: John Burlingame, Ronald Baker and Thomas Baker; three great-grandchildren: Cody Baker, Tyler Baker and Jesse Baker. Graveside funeral services will be conducted today, April 22, at 10 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with Mr. Steve Southerland Sr. officiating. military honors will be accorded at graveside.
