Johnie Ringley, 85

Narcy Williams Brown, 56, died at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Georgia, on Friday, August 7, 2009. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. in Glennville where she served as the church treasurer, as a member of the steward board, as a trustee, and as a member of the usher board. She also served in the bus ministry. She was employed with Health Department Home Health Services for 16 years. She was a member of the Star of Glennville #162, Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, Timmy Brown of Glennville; one daughter, Cynthia Conner of Glennville; one son, Robert (Sandra) Nunnally of Hinesville; seven grandchildren; one special great - granddaughter; two sisters; three brothers; two aunts, Annie Joyce Lett of Glennville and a special aunt, Geraldine Henry of Glennville; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 15, at 11 a.m. at St. James A.M.E. in Glennville, with burial in the Sandhill cemetery in Glennville.
King and Sons Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mollye Nancy Eason, 32

Mollye Nancy Eason, age 32, died on Saturday at her residence. The Bulloch County native was a graduate and valedictorian of the 1995 class of Pinewood Christian Academy. Mollye was a 2001 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a BA in Communication Arts. She was a sister in the Kappa Delta Sorority. Mollye had a love for travel, traveling extensively over Europe, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. She lived in Hilton Head, SC, and in Waipo, HI, where she worked for Kolina Golf Club. Mollye was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and was actively involved in the drama ministry. She moved back to Statesboro in 2003 and was employed by Burns World Travel Agency. Mollye loved her family, friends, the beach, sun and water. She never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Arnold Lavon and Evelyn Jones, and her paternal grandparents Homer and Mary Eason.
Surviving are her parents Rev. Joe and Nancy Eason of Nevils; a sister and brother - in - law Elizabeth and Barry Bauman of Arlington, TN; a brother Joseph Eason of Statesboro; nieces and nephews Emily Bauman, Brett Bauman, Benji Bauman, Ellie Bauman; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Sean Kent, Russell Davis, Ross Mims, Chad Starling, Robb Kicklighter, Trent McEwen, and Jarred Reddick.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Kappa Delta Sorority, and the 1995 Class of Pinewood Christian Academy.
Burial will be in the Trinity Baptist Church Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, 1172 Nevils - Denmark Road, Nevils, GA 31321

Roy A. Godbee, Jr., 38

Roy A. Godbee, Jr., 38, of Manassas, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009, at Hospice Savannah, after an extended illness. He was a 1989 graduate of Claxton High School and a graduate of Georgia Southern University.
He is survived by his parents, Roy and Katy Godbee; brother and sister - in - law, Michael and Ashley Godbee; niece and nephew, Jackson and Presley Godbee; grandmother, Thelma Godbee, all of Manassas, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial funeral services will be held at a later date.

Julia “Judy” Kennedy Hook, 67

Mrs. Julia “Judy” Kennedy Hook, 67, of Savannah, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009, at Memorial Health University Medical Center, after a short illness. A native of Tattnall County, Judy lived in Tattnall and Toombs counties before moving to Savannah several years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Hook of Savannah; her parents, Barney and Lillie Green Kennedy and brother, Wilbur G. Kennedy, all of Collins.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Williamson of Lyons; two grandchildren, Cody and Charli; one sister and brother - in - law, Betty K. and Raymond Brown of Collins; three brothers and sisters - in - law, Billy and Joan Kennedy of Cobbtown, Edward and Linda)Kennedy of Collins, and Larry and Juanita)Kennedy of Vidalia.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 20, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Bonaventure Cemetery.

Jerry Dale Kennedy, 62

Jerry Dale Kennedy, 62, died Monday, August 24, 2009. The Long County native had lived in this area most of his life. He was employed with Wayne’s Mobile Homes for many years and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his family and friends and was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Bo) Kennedy and Dorothy Weaver Kennedy, and son, Johnny Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Kennedy of Glennville; a daughter - in - law, Joy Kennedy Ellis of Glennville; his siblings, Larry Kennedy of Glennville, Randall Gilmore of Pearl, MS, Martha Oliver of Stonewell, LA, and Cathy Cole of Morton, MS; two step - children, Jason Culbreth and Christi Culbreth; three step - grandchildren, Jonathan Culbreth, Michael Hallowell and Jeremy Hallowell; one step - great - grandson, Aden Hallowell.
Pallbearers were Kenny Watson, Danny Watson, Michael Hallowell, Jeremy Hallowell, Charlie Bryant and Joey Summerall.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Little Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Russell “Rusty” Wallace, 52

Russell “Rusty” Wallace, 52, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at his residence. The El Paso, Texas, native moved to Glennville in 1988. He was a member and former deacon of Antioch Baptist Church, employed in the construction industry and a motorcycle enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Luster (Pete) Wallace; step - father, C.D. (Mac) McFarlin; aunt and uncle, Dottie and Russell Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Michele B. Wallace of Glennville; children, Peter and Robert Wallace of Glennville; mother, Jeanette McFarlin of Mexia, TX; sister, Linda Fox of Mexia, TX; brother, Steven Wallace of El Paso, TX, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Kenny Edwards, Reverend Edward Brannen and Reverend Eric Rentz officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joey Todd, Walter Rush, Jamey Glisson, Jerrell Larisey, Segal Glisson and Allen Durrence.

Lalia K. Whitaker, 65

Lalia K. Whitaker, 65, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at The Doctors Hospital of Tattnall. She was a native of Evans County and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maner David Kirkland and Lula Mae Roberts; her children, Mary Ann Whitaker, James Whitaker Jr. and an infant son.
She is survived by her husband, James Lewis Whitaker of Reidsville; two daughters and sons - in - law, Lorie and William Kicklighter of New Orleans, Kimberly and Raymond Pittman of Virginia Beach; five brothers, James Kirkland of Claxton, GA; Talmadge Kirkland of California, Clifford Kirkland of Florida, Gary Kirkland of Vidalia, Lloyd Kirkland of Statesboro; four sisters, Beatrice Blocker of Glennville, Jeanette Rushing of Statesboro, Ann Kirkland of Reidsville and Jean Kicklighter of Statesboro; aunt, Cecila Bacon of Pembroke; four grandchildren, Amanda Whitaker, Jason Price, Cierra Whitaker and Tyler Harris, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 24, 2009, at Mellie NeSmith Chapel, with Reverend Kenneth Green officiating. Burial followed at Georgia Veterans Memorials cemetery in Glennville, GA.
Pallbearers were Randy Kirkland, Jeremy Kirkland, Casey Kirkland, Roger Boyette, Michael Kirkland and Jesse H. Wright.
Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton was in charge of the arrangements.

Johnie Ringley, 85

Johnie Ringley, 85, died Monday, August 17, 2009, at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born in Overton County, TN, and lived in Cobbtown since 1977, moving from Lafayette, IN. He was an Army veteran serving in World War II.
Mr. Ringley was a plumber and retired from Ft. Stewart in 1986. He was a member of the Hillside Church of God since 1946 and served as clerk. He was an Elder and on the Pastors’ Council for many years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was an outdoorsman and a part - time carpenter. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Ringley.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Dowd Ringley of Cobbtown; daughters and sons - in - law; Shirley and Mac Sims of Cobbtown, Connie and Doug Harmon of Lafayette, IN; son and two daughters - in - law, Jackie and Naomi Ringley of Warner Robins and JoAnna Ringley of Ft. Wayne, IN; a brother and sister - in - law: Ray and Jimmie Ringley of Livingston, TN; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, at the Hillside Church of God with Pastor F.M. Henderson and Pastor Jason Burns officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Creek Cemetery, with military honors being observed. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Remembrances may be sent to Hillside Church of God, 1058 Hillside Church Rd., Cobbtown, GA 30420.

Billy Selestok, 60

Billy Selestok, 60, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Pennsylvania native lived most of his life in Evans County. He was of Catholic faith, was a member of Boilermakers Local 26 and Ezel Lodge 335. He was owner of J&W Welding in Claxton. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at Fisherman’s Lodge at Shellman Bluff.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Selestok of Hagan; one son and daughter - in - law, Jimmy and Michelle Selestok of Collins; three daughters and sons - in - law, Paula and Lee Miller of Sylvania, Christina and Jeremy Screen of Collins and Bekki Selestok of Hagan; one brother, Mike Selestok; seven grandchildren, Wesly and Jessica Selestok, LeAnna and Bubba Miller, Kayla and Bo Screen and Marah Lamie, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

Derrell Lewis Davis, 71

Derrell Lewis Davis, 71, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Tattnall County. The Tattnall County native had lived in Pooler many years before moving to Lilburn in 1978. He was a retired engineer with the Department of Transportation. Derrell loved to hunt and fish and was a wonderful “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, DeAnn Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Pennington Davis of Lilburn; a daughter and son - in - law, Debra and Jeremy Jones of Conyers; a brother, Bo (Peggy) Davis of Savannah; a sister, Gail (Larry) Walker of Alpharetta; three grandchildren, Zane, Justus and Hope Jones.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, August 6 at 11:00 a.m., at the Gazebo at Lake cemetery with burial to follow there. Rev. Robert Woodall will officiate. Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity.
