Terry Mitchell Sands, 62

Terry Mitchell Sands went to his heavenly home Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends with the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born in Tattnall County, Georgia on December 30, 1946, to Harold Bernice and Willa Mae Brannen Sands. He was a Marine Corps Veteran and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 32 years of service as a Civil Engineer. He was employed with EMC Consulting Firm of Savannah and was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing and teaching young people how to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Kristy Baker Sands of Ludowici; children, Wendy and Robert Clark of Fleming, GA, Courtney L. Kickligher of Cherokee N.C. and Carling R. “Sissy” Kicklighter of Wilmington Island, GA.; sisters, Lucy Nall, Ermadean Long, Marilyn Browning, all of Glennville; brothers, Beach Sands, Jerry Sands, Gary (Tub) Sands, all of Glennville; grandchildren, Tyler Fincher, Rebecca Clark, Robert Clark Jr.; special friend, Ricky Burkhalter of Glennville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday October 21, 2009, at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev Steve Dees officiating. Burial was private.
Remembrances may be made to: Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia 30459 or to the National Wild Turkey Foundation, Coastal Chapter, 7139 Leon Coffer Hwy. Fleming, GA. 31309, for the future education of young hunters and outdoorsmen.

Helen Dawson Ray Smith, 94

Helen Dawson Ray Smith, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at her son’s residence under the care of her family and Pearls of Life Hospice. She was a life long resident of Tattnall County and taught school for 32 years in Tattnall and Long County Schools. She was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, the Golden Age Club, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carnell Ray and John Smith.
She is survived by her son and daughter - in - law, Howard and Edith Ray of Glennville; brother and sister - in - law, Gene and Frances Lawson of Savannah; grandchildren, Vickie Ray, Hal Ray, Rodney “Bob” Ray (Teressa), Cameron Ray, Janet Maddox and Scott Bryant; two great grandchildren, three great - great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held October 16, 2009, at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Brother Ernest Dyal and Brother Steve Miller officiating. Burial followed in Watermelon Creek Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cameron Ray, Reginald Ray, Walter Ray, Kevin Howard, Johnny Dawson, Bobby Cowart and William Lambert.

Richard Erington Barnes, 30

Mr. Richard Erington Barnes, the son of Mr. Basil E. Barnes and the late Carolyn T. Barnes, was born December 27, 1978, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He departed this life on October 4, 2009.
Richard graduated from Dillard High School and was in constant pursuit of his interest in new innovations and inventions. He re - committed himself with baptism and became a member of the Vidalia Church of Christ. Richard was a member of the Pineland community and affiliated with Volunteers of America (VOA). He was well known for his smile, friendliness, good heart, and a great sense of humor. With a flood of good memories, he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Richard is survived by – a loving father, Mr. Basil E. Barnes; one sister, Ms. LaKeena S. Roberts; one great grandfather, Mr. J. C. Campbell, host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Graveside services were held Friday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at Brewton cemetery in Collins, GA, with Minister Reba King Feliciano officiating.

Glenda Bacon McRae, 45

Glenda Bacon McRae, 45, of Reidsville, GA, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA.
She attended the public school in Tattnall and was a 1982 graduate of Reidsville High School. She was a member of Abundant Life Apostolic Church of the Living God in Glennville, GA, where she served as a Missionary.
She is survived by her husband, Deacon Lankin McRae of Reidsville; two sons, Steven McRae of Seattle, WA and Brian McRae of Reidsville; her father, Rudolph Bacon of Reidsville; four sisters, Regina Grubbs of Glennville, Linda Randolph of Murfreesboro, TN, Carol Bacon of Snellville, GA and Diane Jinks of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three brothers, Rudolph Bacon Sr., of Carson, CA, Victor Bacon of Glennville, GA and Emory Bacon of Greenville, SC; a host of sisters - in - law, and a brother in law, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Mt. Zion #1 Baptist Church in Tyson with burial following in the Robert Chapel Cemetery.

Willie Nunely, 51

Willie Nunely, 51, of Reidsville, GA, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009, at The Doctors Hospital of Tattnall in Reidsville.
He attended public schools in Tattnall County and was a graduate of Glennville High School, class of 1976. He was a member of First African Baptist Church in Glennville, GA, where he served as a former choir member.
He is survived by one son, Frank Vreen of Clearwater, FL; one grandson, Frank Vreen Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Roberta M. Forest of Reidsville; one brother, Jerry Roberson of Reidsville; three sisters, Velinda Moore and Nina Bell Forest both of Reidsville, and Marie Moore of Jonesboro, GA; a close friend, Ernestine Lovett of Reidsville; close friends, Joe Lester Miller and Willie Henry Smith of Reidsville; his step - father, Ben Forest of Reidsville, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 10, 2009, at First African Baptist Church in Glennville, GA, with burial following in the church cemetery.

David Stanfield, 43

David Stanfield, 43, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele. The Evans County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He attended the Tattnall Evans Training Center and was preceded in death by his father, Frank Stanfield.
He is survived by his parents, Simmie and Mary Grace Driggers and Willie Joe and Katie Lee Baker, all of Glennville; brothers, Gerald Stanfield of Jesup, Simmie Driggers Jr. (Susan), Blair Driggers (Amanda), Kenny, Jason, Sean, Bryan, Sheldon (Ashley), Santo, Corey, Joshua, Thomas and Manuel, all of Glennville, Mark Lampp of Jesup; sisters, Lisa Stanfield of St. Mary’s, Debra Ann Quick (Chris), April, Marcia, Nikki, Laurie, Asa, Tanya, Victoria, Amanda, Susie, all of Glennville, Danielle Mott (Jonathan) of Swineford, Germany, Stephanie Daughtery (Steve) of Honolulu, HI and Connie Thompson of Athens, GA.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 12, 2009, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, with Reverend Earl Kicklighter officiating. Burial followed in Beards Creek Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chance Quick, Santo Driggers, Corey Driggers, Sheldon Driggers, Simmie Driggers III, and Sean Driggers. Honorary pallbearers were Tattnall Evans Training Center Special friends and staff.

Vera Weaver, 74

Mrs. Vera Weaver, 74, passed away Tuesday morning, October 13, 2009, at the Community Hospice Inpatient Center in Vidalia. The Anderson, SC, native had lived in Collins for the past two years. She retired from Orr - Lyons Mill as a spooler. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Jackson Woodall and Lillie Eskew Woodall; daughter, Vicki Johnson; sisters, Ruby Woodall Murphy and Lucille Woodall Nicholson; brother, Albert Jackson Woodall.
She is survived by: her husband, Huie Weaver of Glennville; two daughters, Barbara Eaton of Collins and Bobbie Crone of Piedmont, SC; brother, Dewey Woodall of Anderson, SC; granddaughter, Kala Brown of Peidmont, SC; grandsons, Kory, Dylan, and Kameron Crone all of Piedmont; nieces, Betty Jean Williams of Iva, SC, Belle Duncan of Star, SC; nephew, William J. Nicholson of McCormick, SC; along with other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC.

Ronald Eason, 46

Mr. Ronald Eason, age 46, passed away Friday, October 02, 2009, at his residence under the care of his family and Community Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Vidalia for the past 25 years. He was a truck driver and attended North Thompson Baptist Church in Vidalia. He loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Martha Eason; and brothers, Ramond and Richard Eason.
He is survived by his faithful companion, Ann Rowland of Lyons; sons, Jamie, Michael and Chris Conway both of Vidalia and Joey Conway of Augusta; sisters, Leona (Raymond) Sanders of Lyons, Mary Rewis of Collins, and Genneva (Sam) Stover of Newnan; brothers, Louis (Rose) Eason of Collins, Marcus Eason of Newnan, Daniel (Sandra) Eason of Twin City; sisters - in - law, Emmagean Eason of Collins and Mary Eason of Waycross; grandchildren, Keegan, Dylan and Alex Conway, and Charlotte Powll; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 3, 2009, from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Reverends Glen Waters and William Prince officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Wilma Barrow Jarrell, 85

Wilma Barrow Jarrell, age 85, died Saturday morning, October 3, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Jarrell was a homemaker and a longtime member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting and was an excellent cook. She was also an honorary member of Culyer Hunting Club.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters - in - law, : Jimmy and Shirley Jarrell of Blitchton, Daniel and Doris Jarrell of Blitchton, Donald Jarrell of Blitchton, and Ben and Angie Jarrell of Reidsville; two daughters and sons - in - law, Jackie and Ron Ienn of Columbus, NE, and Diane and Carl Sherman of Blitchton; one sister, Doris Mullaney, of Cheshire, CT; sister - in - law, Leona Jarrell of Garden City; 19 grandchildren; two step - grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; six step - great - grandchildren; four great - great grandchildren and several other relatives.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Jarrell will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Charlotte Marik Lowe, 60

Charlotte Marik Lowe, 60, of Cobbtown died Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. She was born in Dayton, OH, and moved to Cobbtown in 2005 from Boynton Beach, FL. While living in Del Ray Beach, FL, she was an attendant at Morikami Museum for many years.
Charlotte had many hobbies — woodworking, drawing and oil painting, fishing, cooking, spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Cobbtown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lowe; her parents, Harry and Martha Marik; two brothers, Larry and Duke Dorton.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom Lowe of Cobbtown; four daughters, Carolyn Wells of Cobbtown, Diana Foster of Hannahan, SC, Deborah Keesler of Bradenton, FL, and Kimberly Casabona of Coral Springs, FL; a brother, James Marik of Brooksville, OH; six grandchildren, Rachele, Kenny, Breanna, Ryan, Johnny and Samantha; four great grandchildren, Johnny, Jr., Cassie, Lexy and Kylie.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. K.C. Seabury officiating. Burial followed in the Sunlight Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Harvey, Dave Hiser, Nick Hiser, Chris Hiser, Robbie Wells and Kenny Wells.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
