Annie Harvey, 83

Mrs. Annie Harvey, 83, of Glennville, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton. She was a native of Tattnall County and a member of Beulah No. 1 Baptist Church in Mendes.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Earl Harvey of Glennville; two stepchildren, Ervin Kent of California and Earlene Kent of Macon; one granddaughter, Mrs. Gloria Cooper of Glennville; one grandson, Tim Kent of Macon, and six great - grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Katherine Middleton and one brother, Mr. Henry Watson, both of Glennville, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Beulah No. 1 Baptist Church in Mendes, GA. No wake services. Viewing will be held Friday, December 4, 2009, from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph E. McDaniel Jr., 62

Funeral Services for Mr. Joseph E. McDaniel Jr., 62, of West Eighth Street, Louisville, GA, who entered into rest December 3, 2009, will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Louisville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Hardy G. Owens and Rev. Andy Carter officiating. Veteran’s Honors will be accorded. Private interment will be held in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Mr. McDaniel was a native of Louisville and a former resident of Reidsville, GA. He was a member of the Louisville First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of Viet Nam and a retired Correctional Officer with the Georgia State Prison at Reidsville with 34 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Darlene McDaniel; a son and daughter - in - law, Joey and Angela Curl; a daughter and son - in - law, Tisha and Bob Holland, all of Collins, GA; two sisters, Flora Parker, Niceville, FL and Florence Lord, Davisboro, GA; seven grandchildren; stepchildren, Garrett Clavier, Dalton Clavier and Samantha Clavier.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Correctional Officers of the Georgia State Prison. Active Pallbearers will be Willard Sikes, Earl Sikes, Larry Sikes, Stevie Smith, Kenny Claxton and Tony Smith.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will be at the residence of Florence Lord, 508 Lee Street, Sandersville, GA.

John Robert (Bobby) Brown, 46

John Robert (Bobby) Brown, 46, died Friday November 27, 2009. The native of Portsmouth, VA, lived most of his life in Metter, was a member of New Life Baptist Church and the Encouragers Sunday School Class. Bobby served in the Navy, owned and operated his own trucking company, loved fishing, grilling out, following Dale Jr. on the NASCAR circuit, and called himself a number one golf hacker. He especially enjoyed his morning walks and referred to that time as his GOD time. He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Brown; son, Jackson Brown; daughter, Victoria Brown; stepdaughter, Jade Scism; mother, Jane Brown; grandson, Elijah Scism, all of Metter; sisters, Teri Bidne of Metter, Renee (Mike) O’Dell of Atlanta; brothers, Gary (Lavonna) Johnson, of Portland, TN, and Herman (Lynn) Johnson of Foley, AL, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 30, at New Life Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Lake Cemetery.

Destiny Shynashia Guest, seven months old

Miss Destiny Shynashia Guest, seven months old, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga.
She is survived by her mother, Fulena Guest and her father, Dantrel Dunson; one brother, Dajuan Brown and one sister, Kimyra Dunson; grandparents, Angela Guest and Karen Dunson, all of Glennville, GA.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 27, 2009, at King and Son’s Funeral Home Chapel in Glennville, with burial following in the Old Halltown cemetery in Glennville.

Richard Wayne Kicklighter, 70

Richard Wayne Kicklighter, 70, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital in Dublin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired lineman from Fort Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Kicklighter of Cobbtown; son, Richard Kicklighter of Glennville; daughter, Jessica D. Kicklighter Tapley of Reidsville; stepchildren, Joseph C. Jarriel of Ellabell, Dewy Lee Jarriel of Collins, Joyce M. Prewitt of Collins, Wanda June Parnell of Cobbtown and Debra Ann Hassol of Manassas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home with Chaplain David R. Julian officiating. Burial was in the Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery in Glennville with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Doug Hassol, Roger Prewitt, Charlie Anderson, Larry Moody, Cecil Rich and Jimmy Hughs.

Marjorie K. Rogers, 90

Marjorie K. Rogers, 90, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at The Griffin House in Claxton.
Her childhood years were spent in Collins, GA, but she has resided in Evans County for over 70 years. She was one of the first members of Eastside Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She was also a former member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raleigh Rogers.
She is survived by one son, Pharis Rogers of Claxton; one daughter and son - in - law, LaDonna and Jimmy Tucker of Claxton; two grandchildren, Matt and Leslie Tucker of Claxton and Christy and C. A. Dyson of Ellabell; one great grandson, Tucker Dyson of Ellabell and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 28, 2009, in the Eastside Baptist Church sanctuary, with Reverend Gatus Cheatham officiating. Burial followed at Brewton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Tootle, Ray Todd, Danny Livingston, Edward Oglesbee, Phillip Richey and Neal Hammock.

Patrick Lester Rolls, 90

Patrick Lester Rolls, 90, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tattnall County on October 2, 1919, to Thomas Patrick and Maggie Jane DeLoach Rolls and lived in Glennville all of his life. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart. He was a member of Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Rolls and a son, Richard Rolls.
He is survived by his daughter and son - in - law, Geraldine and Bob Henry of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter - in - law, Mary Rolls of Glennville; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great - great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church cemetery with Dr. Rick Cason officiating.
Remembrances may be made to Pledger House or Sunshine House, 125 North Caswell St., Glennville, GA 30427.

John E. “Bully” Sands, 77

John E. “Bully” Sands, 77, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native had lived in St. Petersburg, FL, for many years before moving back to Glennville in 1983. He retired from Gulf Oil Corporation in St. Petersburg in 1983 and the Tattnall County Board of Education as a bus driver. He was a member and deacon of Ella Grove Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of 30th Avenue Baptist Church in St. Petersburg. He served in the Georgia National Guard during the Korean War and was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Sands Harrell and a son, Johnnie Sands Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Sands of Glennville; grandchildren, Jonathan Harrell (Jennifer), Andrew Harrell (Christina), Abby Harrell, all of Kissimmee, FL; great - granddaughter, Emmerson Noel Harrell and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Ella Baptist Church with Reverend Dwight Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Anderson, Brad Bacon, Jeremy Bacon, Chris Sands, Mickey Sands, and Robert Sands. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Sands, Kerry Bacon, Gene Lee, Tebe Tippins, Jimmy Dubberly, Brent Walker, Jackie Dasher, Dale Dutton, Dr. Paul Thompson and members of the Men’s Adult Sunday School Class of Ella Grove Baptist Church.

Joann Canipe, 43

Joann Canipe, 43, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, at community Hospice Center in Vidalia. She was born in New Jersey and lived in Jacksonville, FL, for many years before moving to Glennville in 2006. She was employed with Ashe Facility Services at Ft. Stewart.
She is survived by a son, John Taylor of Lake City, FL; sister, Tanya Austin of Orange Park, FL; brothers, John Taylor of Jacksonville, FL, and Tommy Winbrow of Valdosta, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville. Burial will be private.

Honie William “Bill” Lunceford, 78

Honie William “Bill” Lunceford, 78, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran and also retired from the Department of Corrections at Georgia State Prison. He was a member of the Reidsville VFW and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Rewis Lunceford, two sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Myrtice Cox and husband Jerry of Reidsville; two grandsons, Michael Shuman of Statesboro and Phillip Shuman; great granddaughter, Jessica Willis of Reidsville; two great great - grandsons, Lange and Gavin Willis of Reidsville and several other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home in Reidsville. Burial followed in the Reidsville City cemetery with full military honors.
