Sande Dawn Jordan, 17, died October 11, 2006, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital, New Orleans, LA. She was born on January 8, 1989, and lived in Reidsville much of her life.
She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Armstrong Jordan and grandfathers David Jordan Sr. and David Stalls of Reidsville.
Sande is survived by her father, Ted Jordan of Reidsville, and her stepmother Elizabeth Stewart; sisters: Brande Kirk, Mande Jordan and Tiffany Jordan; brother by love, Lee Rucker, and step - brother Devin Burgess; grandparents: Meredith Stalls of Reidsville and Dot and Frank Brinson of Sevierville, TN; adopted Pawpaw, Wes Bassett of Atlantic Beach, FL; aunts and uncles, Mary - Catherine and Reggie Ray of Reidsville, Leon and Chanda Stalls of Reidsville, Emily and Gary Leggett of Rincon, David and Mandy Jordan Jr of Great Falls, MT, Patricia Palmer of Portsmouth, VA, Ricky Poss and Kenneth Metz of Sevierville, TN. She is also survived by many cousins and loving friends too numerous to count.
Sande succumbed to Epithelial Ovarian Cancer. Her last gift to others, by her request, was the donation of her hair to Locks of Love.

Diann Byrd Williamson, 57
Diann Byrd Williamson, 57, of Passaic, NJ, died December 2, 2006, after an extended illness. She attended the public schools of Tattnall County and was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Cobbtown. After graduating from high school in 1967, she relocated to New Jersey. There she joined Union Baptist Church. She was employed at the Urban Crisis Council Day Care Center in Passaic for over 30 years.
She is survived by one son and daughter - in - law, Covey Lee and Carrie Williamson of
Garfield, NJ; one daughter, Crystal B. Williamson of Passaic, NJ; her parents, Bill and Ernestine Eason of Cobbtown and Nathan and Bethrotha Holloway of Willingboro, NJ; three grandchildren, John Hughes and Jone’t Williamson, both of Garfield, NJ, and Christoni Williamson of Passaic, NJ; one brother, Ben Eason of Cobbtown; five sisters, and two brothers - in - law, Judy Wilson of Pooler, Lynell and Steve Durden of Cobbtown, Opal Shavers of Bonaire, Rosa Maria and Daryl Byrd of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Linda Mercer of Metter; many other relatives and friends also survive.
The funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Union Baptist Church, Passaic, NJ. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, at the Eden Church cemetery in Cobbtown. The remains will be viewed at Whitaker Funeral Home on Friday, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Syndle E. Kicklighter, 81
Syndle E. Kicklighter, 81, of Brunswick died on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Southeast Georgia Health System. The Tattnall County native was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, and had lived in Glennville most of his life, moving to Brunswick four years ago. He was a farmer and a member of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church and attended Glendale Baptist Church while in Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife, Claudine T. Kicklighter of Brunswick; daughter, Brenda Kicklighter of Brunswick; son and daughter - in - law, Roger and Harriet Kicklighter of Glennville; sister, Wanda Kinard of Jesup; brother, Lowell Kicklighter of Hinesville; two grandchildren, Mandy Kicklighter of Brunswick and Paul Kicklighter of Gainesville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville with Rev. Ken Creekmore officiating. Burial followed in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Joey Waters, Ray Brannen, Willie Joe Kicklighter, Bill Daughtry, Henry Mock and Wayne Rowell.

George William Lane, Sr., 65
George William Lane, Sr., age 65, passed into eternal rest Friday morning, January 19, 2007, at Tattnall Health Care Center. He was a Reidsville native and served in the United States Air Force for several years, where he received an Honorable Discharge. He was a handyman by trade.
He was preceded in death by his son, George W. (Chuckie) Lane, Jr.; his parents Retha Lovett Holmes, William K. Lane and Surrena K. Small; a brother, Joseph Small and his long time companion, Annie Bell Mincey.
He is survived by his daughters: Stephanie L. (Samuel) Murphy of Reidsville, Cheryl D. (Tommy) Jones of Columbus, GA and Sheila B. (Richard) Wheeler of Stone Mountain, GA; sons, Gregory (Diane) Hunter Sr. of Gainsville, GA, Lewis Harris of Reidsville, and Kenneth (Cynthia) Mincey of Miami, FL; sisters, Marjorie B. (Archie) Johnson, Vickie (Rodney) Miller all of Reidsville and Queen Jackson of Fayetteville, NC, Valencia (Danny) Meredith of Nashville, TN; sister - in - law, Annie L. Charles Bacon, 56
Charles Bacon, 56, passed away Monday morning, January 15, 2007, at the Community Hospice in Vidalia. The Toombs County native had lived in Reidsville for 15 years, recently moving back to Vidalia. He was retired from the Farm Service Division of the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Bacon and his parents, J.C. and Hazel Bacon.
He is survived by his son, Lee and Jennifer Bacon of Reidsville; two daughters, Rachel Ailstock of Pratt, Kansas and Amanda Bacon and Sylvester Singleton of Lyons; a brother Fred Bacon of Vidalia; two sisters, Renee Gaskins of Nashville, GA and Melanie Taylor of Vidalia; an aunt, Bobbie Callahan of Lyons; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.
Pallbearers were Mitch Taylor, Brian Smith, Gerald Cox, Bob Bacon, Stanley Holland and Chris Crawford.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Lyons First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Callahan officiating. Interment followed in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Edward Sterling Bargeron, 74
Edward Sterling Bargeron, 74, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007. The Toombs County native had lived in Texas and Savannah for many years before moving to Glennville eight years ago. He was retired from Union Camp Corporation.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bargeron, of Reidsville; children, Leah and Gene Luke, of Griffin; James S. Bargeron, of Valdosta; Allen Bargeron, of Abilene, TX; and Mimi Ingle, of Cumming; stepson, Barry McGlashan, of Glennville; sister, Geraldine Fox (Phil) of Merritt Island, , FL; brothers, George Bargeron (Cynthia) of Ellabelle and Charlie Bargeron of Fruitland Park, FL; 14 grandchildren, six great - grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, January 13, 2007, at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home in Reidsville with Reverend Jeff Spencer officiating. Burial followed in Lyons City Cemetery.

Maxine Boles Bruner, 85
Mrs. Maxine Boles Bruner, 85, passed away on January 15, 2007. Mrs. Bruner was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on October 23, 1921.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Benjamin Boles; her mother, Edith Owen Boles; her brothers, Tom and Bus Boles; her sister, Carrie Boles; and her grandson, John Michael Bruner.
Mrs. Bruner was a beautician for over 60 years. She began her career at age 17 at the Elizabeth Arden Studio in New York City and ended her career at age 79 by closing Maxine’s Beauty Shop.
During the years she ran her beauty shop and raised her children, she found time to be a member, President, and a study leader for both the Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Women’s Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bruner’s hobbies were gardening, sewing, canning, reading Civil War history and cooking. The loves of her life were her great - grandchildren who fondly referred to her as “Ping, ” a name by which she became known to most everyone.
Mrs. Bruner will be remembered for her knowledge of the Bible, her beautiful handcraft work, her gardening, her exceptional cooking, her love of Civil War history, her stubbornness and her love of life.
She mothered and ministered to many, including all of those who were members of her Sunday School Classes and Bible School classes during the 42 years she was a teacher at the First Christian Church of Glennville.
She is survived by her children, Sandi Bruner and Annette Ford of Fayetteville, GA; Dianne and Billy Crapps of Glennville; Tom and Rochelle Bruner of Pensacola, FL; her grandchildren, Monica and Stacy Howard; Misti and Wes Kicklighter, all of Glennville; Chris and Kathy Bruner; Sonya and Tyler Pickett, all of Pensacola, FL; great - grandchildren, Dalton Howard, Chalmus Kicklighter, Reagan Kicklighter and Bonnie Bruner and several nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend James Crockett and Reverend Jack Hudson officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Micky Wasson, Wes Kicklighter, Scott Parker, Brant Kicklighter, Stacy Howard and Chris King. Honorary pallbearers were the Elders and Deacons of First Christian Church.

Corene Cannon, 96
Mrs. Corene Cannon, 96, passed away Monday morning at the Tattnall Community Hospital. The Cobbtown native had lived in Reidsville most of her life and was retired after 30 years of service from the Rotary Corporation. She was a member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church and the Tommy Thompson Sunday School Class. Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Cannon and her son - in - law, Bill Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen C. Nelson of Reidsville; grandson, Ed (Jeannie) Nelson of Glennville; granddaughters, Tara (Don) Martin and Traci Heilman all of Reidsville; great grandchildren, Ashley Nelson, Laura (Will) Maybin, Olivia Nelson, Austin, Caylee, Tyler and Avery Martin and Courtney, Landon and Blake Heilman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services was held Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the Reidsville United Methodist Church with Reverends Doug Walker and David Hudson officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Buddy Nail, Elbert Alberson, Austin Martin, Carroll Oliver, Al Sikes and Tyler Martin.

John H. (Jimmy) Marcum, Jr., 44
Mr. John H. (Jimmy) Marcum, Jr., 44, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 13, 2007, where he was met at the pearly gates by his dad, Revis Turner. Jimmy was a graduate of the class of 1980 of Glennville High School, a Mason and member of Ezel Lodge 335 F&AM in Claxton, a member of Sons of the Confederate Veterans Tattnall Invincible Camp #154. He was employed by Claxton Oil Company and attended Harmony United Methodist Church. Hunting and fishing brought joy to his life.
Jimmy leaves his wife, Tami Marcum, to cherish the love they shared. He also leaves his mother, Evelyn Turner of Glennville to remember him as her special, loving son. Jimmy was the baby brother to sisters Brenda Waters of Glennville, Polly Cowart of Reidsville, DeAnn Odum and Pam Griggers of Lyons; step - children, Tara and Lewis Van Meter of Glennville. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends will have an empty space in their lives that he once filled. For the past year of Jimmy’s life, his heart was filled with love and happiness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 16, 2007, in the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Truett Leveritt officiating. Burial followed in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Lee Ann Purvis Smith, 50
Mrs. Lee Ann Purvis Smith, 50, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at her residence. The Tattnall County native lived in Glennville all of her life. She was a 1974 Graduate of Glennville High School and was employed with the Tattnall County Tax Commissioner, Tattnall County Clerk of Courts and Georgia Department of Corrections at Rogers State Prison for many years before retiring. She was a member of Glennville Church of God where she was active in the Women’s Ministry. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Lee Purvis.
She is survived by her husband, Donald J. Smith of Lyons; her mother, Vernice Purvis; a sister, Kelly Brown; a nephew, Matthew Brown, all of Glennville; brothers - in - law, Wayne (Sophie) Smith of Lyons and Sammy (Sheri) Smith of Albany; an uncle, several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
