Myra Lynn Gagnon, 70

Myra Lynn Gagnon, 70, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2007, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and attended the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Bazemore of Higgston; three sons and a daughter - in - law, Randy Lynn of Five Points, Ricky and Darla Renee Lynn of Vidalia, and Danny Lynn of Michigan; fouro sisters, Erma Lloyd of Waycross, Louise Whitaker and Mary Alice Fennell, both of Reidsville, and Betty Slater of Oak Park; a brother, Louis Lynn of Reidsville; seven grandchildren; four great - grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Carroll Fennell, Wayne Lynn, Tommy Rollins, Jerome Lynn, Steve Lynn, Tommy Champion, and Billy Whitaker.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Williams and Elder Terry Lynn officiating. Interment followed in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Odell Oliver Martin, 93

Mrs. Odell Oliver Martin, 93, of Sanford, FL, died Sunday at Longwood Healthcare Center. She was born in Collins, the daughter or Ernest and Alavan Anderson Oliver, and moved to Florida in 1946. She was a homemaker and the widow of Joe Martin.
Survivors are a son, Donn Martin of Baltimore, MD; a daughter, Sue Chariker of Sanford, FL; two sisters, Jean Williams and Jewel Knowles; five grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Green officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Issac “Calvin” Sharpe, 79

Mr. Issac “Calvin” Sharpe, born March 22, 1928, in Tattnall County, GA to the late Joe Sharpe and Carrie Mobley Sharpe, peacefully departed this life December 4, 2007, at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA, at 11:53 a.m.
He joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tyson, GA at an early age and served faithfully. He truly enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves!
He labored many years as a Logger for Tatum Brothers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Henrietta Berry Sharpe; two sons, Van and Carman Sharpe and a daughter Virginia Sharpe.
He is survived by four daughters, Maria Arthur and Lois (Alvin) Scott, adoptive daughters, Jerroline (Joshua) Harris all of Glennville and Joan Berry Mays of Los Angeles, CA; five sons, Marvin and Sylvester Sharpe of Glennville, GA, Ivory (Eva) Sharpe of Temecula, CA, Kenny Sharpe of Virginia Beach, VA; an adoptive son, Stevie Coleman of Miami, FL; one sister, Jewel Hill of Glennville, GA; one aunt, Annie Kelly of Lithonia, GA; three sisters - in - law, Nancy Usry of Miami, FL, Annie L. Berry and Patricia Berry, both of Glennville; one brother - in - law, Rudolph Bacon of Reidsville; 30 grandchildren; 32 great - grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and special friends, Cheryl Howard, Rosa Melvin and Carolyn Gibson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tyson, GA with Reverend Donnell Benjamin, officiating. Interment followed in the Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville, GA. Pallbearers were Ronnie Berry, Donald Jinks Sr., Marvin Sharpe (son), Percie Brown III, L.C. Wilcox and Charles Berry. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and grandsons.
King and Sons Funeral Home of Glennville was in charge of the arrangements.

Sue Ellen “Coon” Sharpe, 56

Sue Ellen “Coon” Sharpe, age 56 of Uvalda, died Sunday, December 9, 2007, in Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Tattnall County, living in Toombs County several years and had resided in Montgomery County since 1985. She was a homemaker, was previously employed at Federal Pacific in Vidalia for 15 years, a member of the Uvalda Baptist Church and she loved to fish.
Mrs. Sharpe is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe “Jody” Sharpe of Uvalda; three stepchildren, Diane Ford of Lyons; Robin Stanfield of Glennville and Bobby Allen Sharpe of Reidsville; her mother Maxine Conner Claxton of Cedar Crossing; two sisters, Elaine Conner of Reidsville and Debbie Fowler of Reidsville; one brother, Kenneth Claxton of Reidsville and several nephews.
Funeral services for Sue Ellen “Coon” Sharpe were held Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Sharpe Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Dickerson, Max Conner, Bruce Johnson, James Dickerson, Emmette Fulford and Allen Sharpe.
Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.

Esther “Jeannie” Waters, 48

Esther “Jeannie” Waters, 48, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Candler General Hospital in Savannah after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a native of MA and lived in Liberty County for the past 11 years. She was Catholic by faith.
She was a lieutenant in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Jeannie worked as a director of a childcare center “Open Arms” in Reston, VA, also Maggie’s Morning School in Savannah. She worked with the Judges in the yachting event in the ’96 Olympics. Jeannie was a legal secretary at the District Attorneys Office in Hinesville. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and boating and had a love of children. She had a love of fashion and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Horace Waters of Midway; her parents, Fred and Julie O’Dea of Gloucester, MA; brothers and sisters - in - law, Fred, Jr., and wife Toby of Gloucester, MA, and Michael and Alison of Gloucester, MA; sister and brother - in - law, LeeAnn and Jack Lichman of Cape Cod, MA; two very special stepsons, Charles I. Waters and Jessica, Chad and Courtney Waters, all of Millen; grandchildren, Duvon Eason Waters, Robert Lane Waters and Presley Claire Waters; brothers - in - law and sisters - in - law, Terry and Cherrie Waters of Glennville, Joann and Harry Bowser of Richmond Hill, Jack and Linda Waters of Midway, Cynthia and Earl Boyette of Reidsville, Lisa and the late Paul Oliver of Claxton and Teresa and David Perkins of Claxton. She was the granddaughter of Benedetto and Margaret Randazza.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hinesville with Reverend Sterling Bargeron and Pastor Harry G. Coursey officiating. Interment will follow in Glennville City Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Criminal Justice System.
Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Aldeen Dasher Baxter, 83

Aldeen Dasher Baxter, 83, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native was a member of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer for 25 years. She was formerly employed as a sales clerk at Lipsitz’s Department Store and was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Barnie R. Baxter of Glennville; daughter and son - in - law, Brenda and Dann Patrick of Goldsboro, NC; sister, Nelwanda Purcell of Glennville; brother and sister - in - law, Deryle and Emmajean Dasher of Glennville; two grandchildren, five great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Glennville Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Dann Patrick, Reverend Lee Patrick and Reverend Stephen Windham officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Byron Dasher, Ivan Livingston, Richard Barnard, Tracy Durrence, David Baxter and Charles Winge. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Agnes Rolls Rowe Faulk, 88

Agnes Rolls Rowe Faulk, 88, passed into eternal rest Saturday, December 1, 2007, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The long County native had lived in this area all of her life. She worked as a floral assistant for many years and was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great - grandmother. She was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons and daughters - in - law, Thomas and Diane Rowe and Eddie and Sybil Rowe, all of Glennville; brother, W.H. Rolls, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL; four grandchildren, ten great - grandchildren, three great - great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 3, 2007, from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Miller and Reverend Oscar Rowe Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Branch, Anthony Branch, Danny Rowe, Shane Rowe, Greg Rowe, Nathan Rogers and Toby Wilson.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Grace Blocker Mitchum, 74

Grace Blocker Mitchum, 74, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Coffee County native lived in North Carolina for many years, prior to moving back to this area in 1990. She worked as a waitress and was a member of Dallas Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Mitchum.
She is survived by a stepson, Bobby Mitchum of Mt. Holly, NC; sisters and brother - in - law, Myrtle Lee Futch, Jean Gumm and Eunice and Jack DuRose, all of Glennville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 1, 2007, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Bryan Anderson and Ronnie Butts officiating. Burial followed in Pigott Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen DeLoach, Tommy Rogers, Jason Butts, Dean Bland, William Dunham and Hunter McCall.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Alice McMahon Tootle, 86

Alice McMahon Tootle, 86, beloved wife of the late Dr. George S. Tootle died on November 27, 2007, at Cumberland Hills Assisted Living Center in Aiken, SC.
She was born in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Dr. and Mrs. James Henderson McMahon, III and lived most of her life in Duluth, Georgia, where she was a member of the Duluth United Methodist Church and was active in many community activities. She attended Cumberland Mountain School in Crossville Tennessee, and was a graduate of Emory University School of Nursing in Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Lisa Lanora Tootle, and her brother, James H. McMahon IV.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Tootle Minter (Tom) and Jane Tootle Hinnant, both of Aiken, SC and Mary Tootle Wilkie (Woody) of Prosperity, SC; grandchildren, Amy Hinnant Parrott (Will) and Holly Hinnant of Aiken, SC, Michael Minter (Jaimee) of Shellman’s Bluff, GA, Melissa Minter Wells (Adam) of Boone, NC, Elizabeth Wilkie Wick (Capt. Steve USAF) of Altus, OK, 1st Lt. Adam Wilkie, USMC of Pensacola, FL, Bonnie Minter of Atlanta, GA, Dr. David Minter (Rhonda) of Augusta, GA, Noele Hinnant Lang (Chris) of Pendergrass, GA, and Stephania Hinnant Putt of Charlotte, NC; great - grandchildren, William and Elaina Parrott, Madison Wick, Mackay Minter, Catherine Minter, Aaron and Evan Lang, Michael and Michelle Sims and Joshua, Daniel, Samuel and Caleb Minter; nephew, James H. McMahon V. (Betty) of Oak Ridge, TN; sister - in - law, Helen McMahon of Oak Ridge, TN and caregivers, Wally Bright of Augusta, GA and Edith Scarboro of Aiken, SC.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, GA. Interment followed in Glennville City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to your local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for the support of patients and their caregivers.
